  1. This will be my last posting on this thread. I leave for China early in the morning and need to get a few hours of sleep. To all who stand for the pre-born, I pray that you are successful in saving lives and reaching their mothers. To all who have a heart to spread the gospel, I encourage you to do it with urgency. To those of you who disagree with our methods of saving babies, we'll just have to agree to disagree. I've been in the battle for many years and would change any method that I found ineffective or unbiblical. Much thought and prayer goes into our ministry methods and I will always follow as my Father leads before yielding to popular opinion. The opinions of others are important to consider, but in the end, I must follow the Holy Spirits leading. Follow close to our King, Denny Life and Liberty Ministries P.S. Please pray for our team as we evangelize in North Western China over the next three weeks. Our target groups are Hui Muslims and Tibetan Buddhists. The areas we will reach are unreached with the Gospel.
  2. Showing pictures of healthy babies with their mothers is what the abortion fight started out with long ago and it didn't work. But you show somebody what a dead baby looks like all chopped up after an abortion and it will make an impression. Did you ever consider that God has called them to do what they do? I mean what could be more radical then to call your only son to become a tortured bloody spectacle to be mocked in front of hundreds when He didn't even commit sin? I do believe that there is a line which should not be crossed in the battle against abortion but putting graphic pictures of reality in the faces of those who are about to or who have already committed an atrocity that is far worse then showing the pictures. Is not beyond what God has already done in the bible and in fact doesn't even come close to what to the radical stuff God has already done in the bible. Like striking a man dead just because he spilled his seed on the ground. Or killing a man when all he did was to put his hands on the ark to keep it from falling to the ground. Or how about making the enemies of Israel turn on each other in the battle field and kill each other by the hundreds of thousands. How do these things compare to showing graphic pictures of the truth? What statistical evidence do you have that shows these tactics are successful in stemming the tide of abortions?? I would like to know how viewing the nearly pornographic vile pictures of little children who never had a chance at survival has made a difference in a growing trend in abortions?? Sadly it hasn't and all it does do is take away the dignity of these lifeless precious babies and puts them on sideshow display! The growth of Crisis Pregnancy Clinics that counsel young women and give them a place to have babies and live and go to school while there are adoption services offered would make more sense than this horrific practice that is graphic grandstanding and doesn't really have a mass effect on women using the services of abortion clinics. It's a practice that must stop and is horrific to me and other Christians... but these practices do nothing more than offer disgusting shock value. I share the gospel with, and offer help to abortion bound mothers 4 days a week (on a normal week) and have for the past 15 years. I don't need statistics. I'm there with them and see the success on a daily basis. Crisis Pregnancy Centers don't reach the women we reach. It is past that point when we encounter them. I don't preach the gospel, share a tract, or offer help to an abortion bound mom to change the world. I do it to save that baby, that day at that abortion clinic. It's not about vague statistics. I see babies saved regularly by God's grace and for years have heard those on the sidelines talk about what they think should be done. I seldom see those with all of the "right answers" and all of the "right tactics" on the street saving lives. They are usually too busy criticizing others on message boards. An assumption of yours? Nice touch. Another guilt tactic I see. So, tell me, why did you post here in the first place if you were not looking of replies? Feel free to reply. This is off topic though. Refer to original posting.
  3. One day a lady criticized D. L. Moody for his methods of evangelism in attempting to win people to the Lord. Moody’s reply was “I agree with you. I don’t like the way I do it either. Tell me, how do you do it?” The lady replied, “I don’t do it.” Moody retorted “Then I like my way of doing it wrong better than your way of not doing it at all.”

  5. You may not be violent, but I find the gory pictures of aborted babies you use for shock value extremely distasteful. Not because I am pro-abortion, I am about as anti-abortion as one can get, however, there must be a better and less-insulting way to get your point across. I am the parent of a still-born child and there is no way I would allow my child to be used in the way you use these babies on your signs. It is bad enough that they are already the victims of abortion, but your use of the images of them violates them once again. So they get victimized twice. How can you rationalize and/or justify that? Why do we show the bloody photographs of the murdered preborn? “A picture is worth a thousand words” In this case however, it is worth much more. Approximately 1.2 million preborn babies are murdered by abortion every year in America. An atrocity of this magnitude must not remain hidden. These photographs expose the suffering of the preborn child. Let us briefly explain our purpose for displaying these photographs. Ending Censorship We display these photos because the media has censored the preborn child from the “abortion debate”. The American press refuses to show the American people what these babies look like who are dying in the womb. We are simply attempting to bypass that media blackout by going to the streets and displaying these photographs. Now the American people can see for themselves exactly what a preborn child looks like after he or she has been in the hands of an abortionist. Most believe the myth that abortion is just the removal of some benign tissue. These photographs expose just how mythical such thinking is. The displaying of these photographs reveals to this nation that a great holocaust is going on in our midst, that our indifference towards it must cease, and that we must act on behalf of those who are oppressed. Faithful to Messiah Messiah taught, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If we were in the position of our preborn neighbor threatened with an unjust death, we would hope someone would speak up for us, so we speak up for them. Some say our photographs are disgusting and hurt our Christian witness. Our response: have you ever seen a pretty picture of a murder? Murder is disgusting; abortion is murder; therefore, our pictures are disgusting. Beyond that, what hurts our Christian witness more – being silent while our neighbor is unjustly killed or exposing the atrocities being committed against our neighbor (Ephesians 5:11)? We think the former. We also display these photographs to inform our nation that it has violated God’s Law, and to therefore call its people to repentance. Our photographs stand as a haunting indictment upon our nation. What a pathetic people we are if we want to tolerate the oppression of an entire people group, but then become outraged at someone for displaying the suffering of that people group. It is important to note that the displaying of these photographs has saved many preborn babies from death by abortion and has spared many women and men the grief of having aborted their own son or daughter. Historical Precedents There are many historical precedents for displaying such photographs. Just as we have seen photographs of lynched black men, Jewish corpses, and lifeless Vietnamese children, so we need to look at the frozen horrid images of preborn babies torn from their mother’s wombs. At the end of WWII, our American soldiers marched the citizens of Germany past the remains of those who died in the death camps. They marched men, women, and children past the remains of those who died in the death camps. Why did they do it? Because those citizens all stood guilty for having tolerated the atrocities that went on in their midst. So it is in America today, we all stand guilty for being silent while this atrocity goes on in our nation. Matthew Brady, the famed Civil War photographer, took and displayed many photographs of the war dead. In 1862, the New York Times wrote the following about Brady’s photographs: “The dead of the battlefield come up to us very rarely, even in dreams. We see the list in the morning paper at breakfast, but dismiss its recollection with the coffee. We recognize the battlefield as reality, but it stands as a remote one. It is like a funeral next door. It attracts your attention, but it does not enlist your sympathy. But it is very different when the hearse stops at your own door and the corpse is carried over your own threshold. Mr. Brady has done something to bring us the terrible reality and earnestness or the war. If he has not brought bodies and laid them in our dooryards and along our streets, he has done something very like it.” So our photographs have brought you “the terrible reality and earnestness” of abortion. Our prayer is that people would be moved with compassion for the helpless preborn when they see these photographs and act to see this bloodshed outlawed. Otherwise, God will use His sword of justice and bring retribution upon a nation of people whose hands are covered with blood. When something is so horrifying we can’t stand to look at it, perhaps we shouldn’t be tolerating it.
  6. The statement that speaks of a "protest" at Longwood University is not true. It is a fabrication. There were no anarchists or opposition to our ministry outreach of any kind.
  7. Don't think that this is a hoax. Active Christians need to be aware that they are being named by the Federal Government as being potential domestic terrorists. How do I know this? Life and Liberty Ministries has been specifically named by Homeland Security as being a terrorist threat in the recently released "2009 Virginia Terrorism Threat Assessment", produced by the Virginia Fusion Center. The Gospel and pro-life messages are perceived as dangerous to a government that hates and opposes Biblical Truth. We live in a day when you must be sure to seek out the truth before you quickly believe statements being made against fellow Christians. Lies about our Ministry are being spread through the government report and we have been characterized as being something that we are not. This is a similar tactic that is used against faithful Christians in Socialist nations were they have be slandered and labeled as criminals in an attempt to silence them. What will be LLM's response? We will continue to uncompromisingly stand for and spread YHWH's truth. Let hell and her minions rage. Isaiah stated in Is. 58:1, "Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins." Ezekiel 22:2 states, "Now, thou son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city? yea, thou shalt shew her all her abominations." Dennis Green Director Life and Liberty Ministries
  8. CBNNews.com - The battle for peaceful expression of pro-life views goes to a new level in the case of one Virginia man. Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) are appealing a free speech case involving the rights of pro-life advocate Dennis Green. Five years ago, Green was silenced by authorities in Raleigh, N.C. for peacefully expressing his views on abortion in a public place. Green was threatened with arrest for violating the city's so-called "permit process" and was warned his sign would be confiscated if he didn't leave the area. "Christians shouldn't be discriminated against for expressing their beliefs," said ADF Senior Counsel Nate Kellum. "Raleigh officials clearly violated Mr. Green's First Amendment right to publicly express his pro-life views." In 2005, ADF filed suit on behalf of Green and then filed a federal appeal in the case in 2007. But a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit ruled against Green on April 16, last month. Now, ADF is asking the same court to take another look at Green's case. "The government can't require citizens to request permission before they exercise their First Amendment rights," Kellum said. "The policy used by Raleigh officials to silence pro-life speech is clearly unconstitutional. The panel's decision stands in direct conflict with other 4th Circuit decisions, the decisions of other federal circuits, and even the U.S. Supreme Court," he added. ADF attorneys are asking for either the panel or the full court to rehear the case because of key factual and legal matters the panel overlooked in its decision by Sarah Miracle - CBNNews http://www.lifeandlibertyministries.com
  9. Jeff Johnson - OneNewsNow - 2/12/2008 11:00:00 AM Eleven Christians arrested for expressing their beliefs publicly during a so-called "gay pride" festival in Philadelphia several years ago were in court Monday, seeking to have their lawsuit against the city reinstated. The 11 individuals were arrested in 2004 at Philadelphia's "OutFest," a pro-homosexual event held on public property. The Christian activists were charged with various crimes for quoting scriptures while walking on a public street set aside for the event. Charges were dropped almost immediately against all but five of the Christians, and those five were later found not guilty of all charges. According to attorney Joseph Infranco, those actions paved the way for a civil suit against the City of Philadelphia and the OutFest participants, claiming that his clients suffered constitutional harm as a result and arguing no one else should be subjected to such actions. "So this is a civil suit now, to make them accountable for their actions -- and filing those criminal charges was part of that," he adds. Infranco, senior legal counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, was at Monday's hearing, which asked appeals court judges to reinstate the lawsuit dismissed by the initial civil trial judge. The consensus at that time, he shares, was that the judges were more sympathetic to his clients than to those accused of violating their constitutional rights. "They got the point," says Infranco, referring to the judges. "They got the point that when somebody goes into the public square and has an event and exercises their First Amendment rights -- [that] when you open such an event to the public, then you have to anticipate that some members of the public who disagree with that speech are going to be present, as well." According to the ADF attorney, the same would be true if the tables were turned. "If you had a Christian event and you invited the public and it was in a public place ... well, you would have to expect other people would come along who want to express a contrary view," he suggests. "We're not trying to shout them down or anything like that. [but] what you're talking about is both views being expressed, side by side." Infranco says winning the lawsuit is important to protect other Christians from what he describes as "constitutionally abhorrent" actions against them in the future. "We ... want what's called declaratory relief, so that the court ... says there should not be a repeat of this at a future event," the attorney explains. "It's the most basic form of discrimination because the police did not like the content of the message -- and that's completely inconsistent with the First Amendment." A decision from the appeals court is expected in approximately two to three months, adds Infranco.
  10. Actually open air preaching goes back to John the Baptist and the Apostles. The Old Testament Prophets were also open air preachers. They weren't much liked either.
  11. Open Air Preaching Clips Two new open air preaching clips have been added to the Life and Liberty Ministries website. The first clip is from a late night outreach in the club district of Miami Beach. Listen to it here. Miami Beach Clip The video is an older campus preaching clip from Virginia Commonwealth University. Watch it here. Exhortations from Proverbs I encourage all true believers to be bold and to share the truth.
  12. RELIGIOUS HOLIDAYS AND CALENDARS - AN ENCYCLOPAEDIC HANDBOOK, 1993 Christmas Day December 25 Christmas is the day on which Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. The Roman Catholic Church designates it as a day of holy obligation on which members of the Church must attend services. Originally, the birth of Jesus was commemorated in the East on the Feast of Epiphany (January 6) but by 354, the Christmas Feast had taken hold in the West and was observed on December 25. Since the fifth century, most Eastern Orthodox Churches have celebrated the Nativity on December 25; however, some Eastern congregations, called "Old Calendarists," still use the Julian calendar and honor the birth of Christ thirteen days later, on January 7. The Armenian Church continues to celebrate "Old Christmas" on January 6. As with many traditions surrounding Christmas, the selection of December 25 as a commemoration of Jesus' birthday may be an example of the blending of Christian ideas and the pagan traditions they replaced. December 25 was the date of the Mithric observance of the "Birthday of the Invincible Sun." This also coincided with Saturnalia and the Winter solstice during the period when Mithraism was practiced in Rome. Since the day was already being kept as a holiday, Christians may have adjusted the symbolism of the day, declaring it the birthday of their "Invincible Son." According to events in the Gospel of Matthew, the date of Jesus' birth may actually have taken place much earlier in the year. The word "Christmas" means "the mass of Christ," and originated in the 11th century as a name for this feast. It was one of the most popular and universally celebrated holidays in Europe during the Middle Ages. During the Reformation, however, the celebration of Christmas began to decline in importance. Reformers engaged in complex doctrinal arguments in an attempt to prove the celebration of Christmas was unscriptural. In some countries, the Protestant reforms brought about a ban of Christmas celebrations. By the time of the Restoration in 1660, however, the celebration of Christmas as a much more secular holiday was revived in these countries. In New England, Christmas remained outlawed until the mid-nineteenth century, and in Boston classes were held in the public schools on Christmas Day until 1870, with pupils who missed school that day being punished or dismissed. The mass immigration of Irish Catholics to New England brought about the reinstitution of Christmas celebrations. _________________________________________________________________ "Christmas.", DICTIONARY OF CHRISTIANITY IN AMERICA, 1990 Both the northern European and North American custom of exchanging gifts at Christmas... are possibly related to pre-Christian celebrations at the close of the year. The celebration of Christmas has sometimes been opposed as pagan by religious leaders. New England Puritans* considered Christmas "popish" idolatry, and the Massachusetts General Court in 1659 passed an act against its celebration, though the law was repealed in 1681." _________________________________________________________________ "Christmas", THE WORLD BOOK ENCYCLOPEDIA, Vol. 3, "C-Ch", 1997 "The first mention of December 25 as the birth date of Jesus occurred in A.D. 336 in an early Roman calendar. The celebration of this day as Jesus' birth date was probably influenced by pagan [unchristian] festivals held at that time. The ancient Romans held year-end celebrations to honor Saturn, their harvest god; and Mithras, the [sic] god of light... As part of all these celebrations, the people prepared special foods, decorated their homes with greenery, and joined in singing and gift giving. These customs gradually became part of the Christmas celebration." "In the late 300's, Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire... The popularity of Christmas grew until the Reformation, a religious movement of the 1500's. This movement gave birth to Protestantism. During the Reformation, many Christians began to consider Christmas a pagan celebration because it included nonreligious customs. During the 1600's, because of these feelings, Christmas was outlawed in England and in parts of the English colonies in America." _________________________________________________________________ "Christmas", COLLIER'S ENCYCLOPEDIA, Vol. 6, 1992 "... The suppression of the Mass during the Reformation led to a sharp change in the observance of Christmas in some countries. In England, the Puritans condemned the celebration and, from 1642 to 1652, issued a series of ordinances forbidding all church services and festivities. This feeling was carried over to America by the Pilgrims and it was not until the nineteenth-century wave of Irish and German immigration that enthusiasm for the feast began to spread throughout the country. Objections were swept aside and the old traditions revived among Protestants as well as Catholics." _________________________________________________________________ "Christmas," COMPTON'S INTERACTIVE ENCYCLOPEDIA, 1997 THE CHRISTMAS WREATH The use of evergreens and wreaths as symbols of life was an ancient custom of the Egyptians, Chinese, and Hebrews, among other peoples. Tree worship was a common feature of religion among the Teutonic and Scandinavian peoples of northern Europe before their conversion to Christianity. They decorated houses and barns with evergreens at the new year to scare away demons, and they often set up trees for the birds in winter. For these northern Europeans, this winter celebration was the happiest time of the year because it signified that the shortest day of the year--about December 21--had passed. They knew the days would start to get longer and brighter. The month during which this festival took place was named Jol, from which the word yule is derived. Yule has come to mean Christmas in some countries. THE CHRISTMAS TREE Trees and decorations. Ancient, pre-Christian winter festivals used greenery, lights, and fires to symbolize life and warmth in the midst of cold and darkness. These usages, like gift giving, have also persisted. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHRISTMAS GIFT GIVING Gift giving is one of the oldest customs associated with Christmas: it is actually older than the holiday itself. When the date of Christmas was set to fall in December, it was done at least in part to compete with ancient pagan festivals that occurred about the same time. The Romans, for example, celebrated the Saturnalia on December 17. It was a winter feast of merrymaking and gift exchanging. And two weeks later, on the Roman New Year--January 1, houses were decorated with greenery and lights, and gifts were given to children and the poor. As the Germanic tribes of Europe accepted Christianity and began to celebrate Christmas, they also gave gifts. Excerpted from Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia Copyright
  13. Life and Liberty Ministries asks that you let your voice be heard! WARNING! THIS CALL TO ACTION CONTAINS OBSCENE AND OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE! Gay Pride Virginia presented its Pride Fest at the 17th Street Farmers Market in the City of Richmond on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006. Life and Liberty Ministries was there to share the Gospel with the attendees. The event sponsors stated the following on the Gay Pride Virginia website, "The event will be family friendly so feel free to bring the kids for face painting, balloons and magic! Vendors and food and beverage stands and will be set up throughout the marketplace for shopping along with many other attractions and activities that will cater to all members of the GLBT community." There were many children in the crowd and near the stage as one of the performers, a cross dressed man by the name of Lady Bunny, presented the most obscene and vulgar performance I have ever witnessed. During the performances, many crude statements such as the following were made. Visit ***LINK REMOVED by MODERATOR*** to read quotes from the homosexual performer. The quotes are obscene and offensive. [AGREED] This is just a small sampling of the obscene statements were said from the stage in the presence of children at this event that was touted as being open to children. Many children were at the event with homosexual couples and other irresponsible parents. Even the Richmond Times Dispatch ran an article stating the following, "If the political conversations at the Gay Pride Virginia Festival didn't move people, the upbeat and often-vulgar musical medley from drag artist Lady Bunny probably did the trick. In clear platform heels, a sparkly dress and sky-high blond hair, Lady Bunny's voice carried over the crowd that filled the 17th Street Farmers' Market yesterday afternoon." On numerous occasions several Richmond Police Officers were approached and asked to do something to protect the children who were being subjected to the vulgar display and they simply told us that if we didn't like it, we could leave. "Gay Pride Virginia says that this was to be their "first annual" event. For the sake of the innocent children that were exposed to such vile filth, I sincerely hope it's their last," stated Dennis Green, Director of Life and Liberty Ministries Please contact the following Officials to express you outrage at this lack of concern for innocent children by the homosexual community and the City of Richmond.
