  1. Would like to find out anything I could about this Christian Sect and it's beginnings. I know that their are two views of when the Waldenians beginnings were, (hoping I spelled this right) looking for information of both views, but especially of the early view which links them to Leoist in 3rd or 4th Century AD some would even say to Christ. But am also interested in the view that states they started with Peter Waldo. Any information would be much appreciated.
  2. Challenging Times I have no idea what you are talking about. II Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
  3. They are a married couple first mention in Acts 18:2-3, both were Jewish Believers (Romans 16:3). Who's occupation was tentmaking. They had moved to Corinth because Emperoer Claudius had commanded that all Jews leave Rome. Thee fellow believers expounded unto Apollo (an eloquent man) the way of God more perfectly. Acts 18:24-26. More than likely there are also mention in II Timothy 4:19. Priscilla is called Prisca in II Timothy. Some Scholars believe Priscalla may have written the Book of Hebrews, but being a woman she did't sign it. I still think Paul wrote Hebrews, but it would be interesting if Priscilla wrote it.
  4. Wonderful....sort of makes me think of Pilgrim's Progress, my favorite book in the world after the bible. Great Post mjrhealth. Miss Elly, I agree though are my favorite books also.
  5. I love all the Left Behind Series books also, don't agree with the End Time theories but they present the Gospel message very will. Have you read the prelude to this series about the rise of the antichrist, I can't think of how to spell the characters name something like Nicolye , yea I'm a terrible speller.
  6. This is a Good Point by Mr. Marcus. I still can't forget Juan Williams a black reporter being fired by NPR because of his connections to Fox News.
  7. There are many people who want that sort of experience but don't get it. Thats one of the main arguements i hear from people. Anectdotal evidence just isn't taken seriously. Well, Paul didn't need to see God to believe in His existence (like Atheists). Why I believe Jesus would have revealed Himself to Paul is because Paul loved God. He states in one letter that He was very zealous. That kind of zeal is born out of love. He truly thought he was wiping out idolatry, as commanded by Torah. (Unlike the Sanhedrin, who were power-hungry.) Great Point, Nebula ! To me, I really think God has reveal Himself though the nation of Israel. First He help to established it as a nation. Then twice in history He disporse it. The first time He disporse the two Kingdoms of Israeal and Judah for idoratry, Israel was conquer and disporse by the Assyrians, and Judah by Babylon. And seventy years after the Kingdom of Judah destruction they became a Kingdom again. Than because they rejected Jesus as Saviour this nation ceased to exist for nearly 2000 years. But God restore then as a nation about 60 years ago. I always think to myself how could a nation cease to exist for nearly 2000 years, but than become a nation again, only by the power of God.
  8. Thank you, Lomi! For my weak faith is made stronger, by your Strong Faith. Remember Solomon the Second wisest man in the world stated in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8--"1) To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven... 4) A time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn...8) A time to love, and a time to hate... Paul wrote "Be ye angry, and sin not let not the sun go down upon your wrath." Ephesians 4:26 It is okay to be angry about something or at someone but if you dwell on it to much it will destroy you not the one your angry at. I will be praying that God will give you His peace to keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).
  9. Can anyone with a Jewish background tell some of the things that are practice on this eight day assembly (Leviticus 23:39; Numbers 29:35)?
  10. Thanks HP, that kinda what I getting confused at. From the Ryrie Study Bible Footnote section b of Matthew 13:33--"Others regard the meaning of leaven in this parable in a good sense, as indicating the growth of the kingdom of heaven by means of the penetrating power of the Gospel." What confuses me, from what I have studied and understand everywhere else in the Bible when leaven is spoken of; it is a type of impurity or evil, I guest I confused especially by Paul statement in I Corinthians 5:6-8. I know this may not mean anything but why would God use leaven as symbol of His kingdom.
  11. Could you tell me about this principle Nebula? I was reading a footnote in my Ryrie Study Bible about a certain principle that has me completely dumbfounded .
  12. Mathhew 13:33 Another parable spake He unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. So from this verse who or what do you think is the leaven?
  13. Hi Shalhevet, one of the first things one needs to remember is that the Apostle John was writing this epistle of I John to correct the false teaching of the gnostics. The gnostics had two great false teaching one was that the spirit of a man could not sin. So John deals with this in I John 1:7-10. The second false teaching was that the physical body could be involve in all sorts of sin and it would not matter because it did not involve one's spirit this is what the Apostle John was speaking of in I John 3:6-8. He was not saying a Christian will never sin, but rather a Christian should not continue living a sinful life which gnostic where so falsely teaching was okay because your body was sinful but not your spirit. But I believe John was also truely trying to convey to the Christians that the New Commandment that Jesus gave us was to love God and our neighbour (Matthew 22:37-40; John 15:12; I John 4:7-8; 20). For just shortly after John wrote these verses we read: 10) In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. 11) For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 12) Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother were righteous. 13) Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. 14) We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 15) Whosoever hateh his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. 16) Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17) But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 18) My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth." I John 3:10-18 We see that Cain slew his brother because he was evil, but Abel was righteous , v.12. For we are righteous in Christ Jesus (I Corinthians 1:29-31; II Corinthians 5:21). But because we have this righteousness given by the Holy Spirit, we will love others. If you will notice how similiar I John 3:16-18 is to James 2:14-17. The righteousness that John is speaking of here is the Work of Faith that James speaks of, which as Pauls states is: LOVE Galatians 5:6; 13-14 6) For in Jesus Christ neither circumsision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. 13) For, brethren, we have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14) For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Just my opinion for whatever it is worth.
