  1. What did you like in your aunt's Bible? What confused you? Rhonda I only read the beginning, but I skipped around a lot. It just seems like God is more punishing than loving, so far.
  2. I have a very analytical personality and I need at least some evidence to believe certain things. I love to explore different religions, I actually just found a Bible in my aunt's bookshelf and she's letting me borrow it. I like to base my own opinions on what information I can get. I signed up on these forums a few days ago, I think maybe a week ago actually, being a newly saved Christian. But now, I guess you could call me a confused Christian. If you can call me that. I have too many questions, and usually whenever I ask other Christians, they're all like OHHH JUST HAVE FAITH IN GOD. I want answers. But, at the same time, I'm always up for a good debate. It's important to keep in mind that the odds of changing the other person's opinion is as likely as for them to change your opinion. I kind of got off track, here... But no matter how much I learn, I think I'm always going to have a belief in some sort of God. I don't think I'd be where I am today without Him, and the belief is already in me.
  3. Does God love Homosexuals too? I don't know. I believe He should. You can't control who your heart lands on, and God should understand that. Keyword is should. I don't know if it's true though, since the Bible says it's sin. And I don't think we'll ever know for fact as long as we're alive. Well, I won't at least. I have too much of an open mind apparently.
  4. I hope so. Something to chew on, our young sister! Deuteronomy 18:9-14 (New King James Version) Avoid Wicked Customs
  5. Where does Harry get his power from? God?? You seem to be missing the fact that witchcraft is being accepted as OK. But it's FANTASY... Should we not like movies where dogs can talk, too? God didn't make dogs talk! Insanity, we shouldn't let our kids watch this! I'm very sorry if I'm coming off as a little bit rude, I'm trying not to, but I just think Harry Potter is harmless. While God has never made a dog talk he has made a donkey talk and made a ruler graze on his hands and knees for I think it was 7 years. All paganism whether it be witchcraft, Hinduism, Buddhism, satanism or anything else is made up of nothing but pure fantasy because there is no such a thing as any other god except for the only living God. Any other god ever spoken of came from the vain imaginations/fantasies of men and are pure garbage and that includes Harry Potter and all of his powers. Garbage in Garbage out. If you want your children to ingest garbage into their minds then let them watch, read and even memorize all that they can about Harry Potter and their head will be full of garbage and that will be what comes out of their mouths one day and probably sooner then later. To defend Harry Potter as nothing more then mere fantasy is defending that which God HATES. If one is defending Harry Potter that person is helping satan in his efforts to pull people away from God and Yes fantasy is one of satans most effective tools. As a Christine if a person has defended Harry Potter as nothing more then fantasy that Christian needs to ask God for forgiveness because it is a slap in the face of the word of God and God Him self for that matter. I am willing to bet that you Bethany are defending Harry Potter as nothing more then fantasy because you have already let your children and most likely your self fill their heads with the garbage of Harry Potter. What is the difference between Harry Potter and Wicca? It is a nature based religion and how can a religion that is based on nature be harmful to any body? Right? Why don't you let you children or yourself (if you have any children) read the book of Wicca? On those merits alone it is a harmless religion and a fantasy as well. It is man making that which God created for man into a thing of worship that can't even talk back. What Wicca does do is lead those who get involve with it into deeper and darker witchcraft. It plants the seeds of curiosity into the minds of those who participate and they just want to know. They don't intend to go to far but guess what? The first time they opened that book or even entertained the idea of Wicca it was already to late. They can be rescued but only by Christ but first they need to be told or convinced that they have been deceived and your statment "But it's FANTASY" tells me that you have already been deceived Bethany. Really you shouldn't be telling us that Harry Potter is harmless. You should be telling God that Harry Potter is harmless. ... Read the above, I explain that I'm only 14. I'm flattered that by the way I "defend" makes it seem like I'm older though, thanks. I'm a newly saved Christian, still learning, and so I'm probably going to have a tendency to be wrong once in a while. I'm trying to absorb as much lessons as I can through this forum and other websites that a few other members were kind enough to let me know about. And I'm naturally stubborn, so I do get very opinionated. Sometimes what I need is a good lecture like that. My opinion on Harry Potter is the same, however. Maybe it'll change. Who knows? My mind has changed so many times about so many things. But I still believe that Harry Potter is harmless IF the person watching the movies or reading the books knows in their mind it's not real. Self-control is a very important factor... I guess children shouldn't be exposed to it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it shouldn't be "not watched" if you're only watching it for entertainment. Just my opinion, there's still plenty of time for me to be proved wrong.
  6. This is kind of ironic, I was just asking my aunt what "Apologetics" meant Then she explained to me and I still didn't understand it. Yeah, I agree with you, WolfBitn.

Yes, and that is the problem. This "Fantasy", as you call it, teaches that there is such a thing as good witchcraft. IT places a seed in the mind of those who do not know Christ, and as seed do, they sprout and grow into it's fullness. I am sorry you do not see this. BTW, God does use animals to talk at times ... Parents should explain to their children then, about how it's wrong and should only be entertainment, shouldn't they? If they're Christian parents they would. And if they aren't Christian parents, then really, shouldn't it not really matter? I'm 14, I've grown up with Harry Potter. I love it. Agnostic mother, Agnostic/sorta Jewish father. Christian girl. Maybe that's why I don't think Harry Potter has much of an affect. It didn't on me.

  9. I agree with the whole putting-your-focus-on-something-else thing. Whenever I feel upset or stressed, I usually just whisper a little prayer. Then go for a walk, call a friend, or go online. Usually the problem isn't as big as I thought it was. This really only works with problems that are out of your control, though. I don't think if you're broke you should pretend like it's not true. But, if you have a problem, and can't do anything about it, why worry? Put your trust and faith in God and believe that He'll make it better, it'll all work out in the end, it should. =)
  10. What? I don't see the problem with Harry Potter. It's a book/movie series, it's fantasy, fiction. It's not real. As long as we remember that, it should be fine, shouldn't it? As for the dirty comedy, all I can say is that, I guess, some of it is extremely raunchy, but some people enjoy that. I don't, so I don't watch it. People have the right to express themselves, and even if it's in an obnoxious behaviour, just ignore it and turn the other cheek.
  11. I don't like the argument "You may be in love, but if living together causes chaos, maybe marriage isn't the best." Living together isn't the main foundation of a marital relationship, it's also maturity, chemistry, and committment. If you're positive that you've found your true love that you want to be with them for the rest of your life, you're probably going to be able to live with them just fine. I don't think that living together should determine whether you're right for each other. If you're truly in love, I'm sure you could manage.
