  1. Oh it happens from time to time...... 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. 43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned , the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. 44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. Luke 2:42-44 Btw, ever tried babysitting ten children??
  2. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. Psalm 19:1-4
  3. Amen Reminds me of a story that happened a few years back. There were these two guys who lived in an occupied country. Both of them had been called to fight the Lord's enemies and both had been given weapons. Fear was leaning on his sword hiding under a pomegranate tree with 600 men, while Faith took one of his mates and went round beating down the enemy's strongholds.
  4. As I see it, Solomon says that man's duty is to glorify his Creator through living a life of worship, submission and obedience to God. As to how this is specifically applied varies from person to person as God has predetermined their place of service. There seem to be two main commands in the Bible regarding man's purpose in life (that I can see). #1 Be fruitful and multiply, subdue the earth and have dominion over it. #2 Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. I am somewhat puzzled though as these two seem to be for the most part irrelevant to my own personal circumstances. Can can anyone add any other commands pertaining to man's purpose? Please? And regarding V11 and 12, do you think Solomon is saying all wisdom has only one Source, God ; and that it is to be understood just as it is written without getting all highfalutin interpreting the terminology? Or another possibility ; wisdom has only one Source hence beware of all other sources of 'wisdom'?
  5. Has anyone already made a youversion group?
  6. I have put this outside of the original thread because it is somewhat long and only deals with one area of the topic and is not intended to distract from the whole topic. For me the following story shows clearly and powerfully why Biblicaly-founded governments were not intended to have the authority to use public funds to finance social welfare or other charitable-type schemes. From "The Life of Colonel David Crockett", by Edward S. Ellis
Published by: Porter & Coates, 1884. Now in the public domain. "I was one day in the lobby of the House of Representatives when a bill was taken up appropriating money for the benefit of a widow of a distinguished naval officer. Several beautiful speeches had been made in its support
  7. (When I click the link it takes me to a page that asks me do do some strange ceremony. Logging I think they called it. I'm not even sure why you'd want to be felling trees in cyberspace?? Wait -maybe this is like that sign 'in' thing. I didn't used to know any sign language before, but now all the sites these days want you to sign 'in' before they'll let you in. ) Anyway, I looked at the youversion site. They have a 'connect with Facebook' option. Does that mean that if a study group was set up in youversion, someone with a Fb account could set it to automatically copy the posts from the Facebook group?
  8. Is there any way for people who don't actually have a fb account (me ) to access this?
  9. *submits a expression of interest* I understand that the personal benefit will be proportioned to the amount of time and study put in, but can you please detail what would be expected from a participant besides the scheduled readings? Thanks.
  10. Exodus 20: [4] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: [5] Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; [6] And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments
