  3. Ahhhh the voice of sanity in the midst of chaos. I agree with Leonard.
  4. Most of this is just proselytizing but I did find this to be interesting "I have had many instances of answered prayers including miraculous healing..." but then you go on to say "Prayer isn't all about asking God for various or sundry things. Prayer is about having an intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ..." So at least in your mind ellie, you can ask God to intervene on your behalf. So if someone were sick and you pray hard enough God may at decide to answer your prayer and change the outcome of a situation for you. Is this correct? Still waiting -SS <{POST_SNAPBACK}> God may intervene in any given situation and change the outcome for anyone, not just me. I used myself as an example because God has miraculously healed me. I could use other instances of miraculous healings that I have personally witnessed as well. But also, when I say prayer is about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ I am again referring to my own experience with prayer. I commuticate with Jesus through prayer as many other Christians do. I am a Christian so it should not surprise you SS that I would proselytize any chance I can get In His Love and Service, Ellie
  5. I have read almost all of Randy Alcorn's book except his latest, with that raving review I will definitely be reading it. Randy Alcorn has been blessed with a ministry that has the 'long view'. He writes from that perspective. Thanks for the glowing review. In His Love and Service, Ellie
  6. I agree with Dad Ernie, now is the time to cultivate a relationship with Jesus, that is the most important thing Christians should be doing right now, the other number one thing is to be preaching the gospel. The Holy Spirit will guide you. The Book of Revelation is not where any new Christian should start, the first four books of the NT is where I started out, howerver all the NT books are a great place to begin, saving the Book of Revelation. Revelation is a book which should be studied with the other prophetic books of the Bible found in the OT. God will lead, I always pray and ask for wisdom before studying the Bible, I ask the Lord to open His word for me to understand. This is where the Holy Spirit comes in, He is our teacher and guide. Grow close to Jesus, the rest will come. In His Love and Service, Ellie
  7. Good advice Super Jew. However, you almost gave me heart failure with the title. Here is a hug if you are feeling neglected In His Love and Service, Ellie
  8. The Ten Commandments are displayed prominently in the Supreme High Court right behind the justices, however they often decide cases such as the one of Alabama Chief Justice Roy S. Moore and the right to publicly acknowledge God, by displaying the Ten Commandments in his court. Which is crazy to say the least. Anytime religion is mentioned within the confines of government today people cry, "Separation of Church and State". Many people think this statement appears in the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution and therefore must be strictly enforced. However, the words: "separation", "church", and "state" do not even appear in the first amendment. The first amendment reads, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." The statement about a wall of separation between church and state was made in a letter on January 1, 1802, by Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptist Association of Connecticut. The congregation heard a widespread rumor that the Congregationalists, another denomination, were to become the national religion. This was very alarming to people who knew about religious persecution in England by the state established church. Jefferson made it clear in his letter to the Danbury Congregation that the separation was to be that government would not establish a national religion or dictate to men how to worship God. Jefferson's letter from which the phrase "separation of church and state" was taken affirmed first amendment rights. It was meant to keep goverment from interferring with the people's right to worship, not the opposite. The reason Jefferson choose the expression "separation of church and state" was because he was addressing a Baptist congregation; a denomination of which he was not a member. Jefferson wanted to remove all fears that the state would make dictates to the church. He was establishing common ground with the Baptists by borrowing the words of Roger Williams, one of the Baptist's own prominent preachers. Williams had said: When they have opened a gap in the hedge or wall of separation between the garden of the Church and the wilderness of the world, God hath ever broke down the wall itself, removed the candlestick, and made his garden a wilderness, as at this day. And that there fore if He will eer please to restore His garden and paradise again, it must of necessity be walled in peculiarly unto Himself from the world." The "wall" was understood as one-directional; its purpose was to protect the church from the state. The world was not to corrupt the church, yet the church was free to teach the people Biblical values. So, you can see how very misunderstood the First Amendment is by this brief history lesson. Imagine if the First Amendment were ever inacted as intended. I am sure the results would be quite different from what we see in this country today. Food for thought.
  9. I have recounted this incident elsewhere on the board, but I will tell it here as well. A while back we met a homeless couple who were working in the oil field and living out of a tent. We began ministering to them and ended up giving them a trailer to live in. They started coming to our nightly prayer meetings. On one such night my husband and the director to our ministry were discussing the demoniac of that threw himself at the feet of Jesus for deliverance. This couple was listening intently and suddenly the wife looked at me and asked me if she could talk with me alone outside. We went outside. She told me the devil was riding on her back and asked me if I knew what she meant. I asked her to clarify what she was saying. She said "There is something evil in me and I want it out, I used to serve Jesus but I fell in with drugs and such and I want this evil thing out of me", then she started crying and asked me if we could help her. I told her we could. Before we went back inside she said "My husband won't like it if I come back to Jesus but I need some help, I think he will be angry, what should I do?" I told her that she should stand up when we got back to the prayer meeting and ask for deliverance, then we went back inside. The prayer meeting commenced and I could tell there was a battle going on with her so I prayed silently for her. After a half hour or so the husband said they had to leave and go let their dog out. Right away the wife stood up and blurted out "I have something evil in me and I want deliverance from it". You can just imagine the look on everyone's face at that moment. My husband and Scott (our director) stood up and everyone went to lay hands on her to pray. While my husband was asking the Lord to rebuke the demons from her, her husband began crying then they both said they wanted Jesus. The wife said afterwards she felt the evil leave like a coldness and when she asked Jesus into her heart she felt like she was filled with warmth. We led them to Christ at that point. Later that evening as we were getting ready for bed both my husband and I sensed an evil, malevolent presence which we rebuked.
  10. Beautiful brother, that brought tears to my eyes. Jesus always wants to draw us to Him. I am blessed, so blessed by this post. God bless Michael. Hope you and Jesus have a wonderful day together. In His Love, ellie
  11. This is a topic very near to me, you see our youngest daughters are twins, identical twins, they had troubled teenage years and both of them left the Lord. In Rebellion they both got involved with drugs etc. One of them ended up getting pregnant out of wedlock and one of them announced to us one day that she was gay. First of all I want to say that both of our daughters have come back to the Lord, and the daughter who said she was gay has left that lifestyle. I have had some in depth discussions with her about it. She does not believe that God made her that way. What she has discovered through much soul searching is that several things affected her choice. She revealed to me that when she was eleven years old a babysitter's husband molested her she feels this incidence led her to the gay lifestyle. I Praise the Lord that she is serving Jesus today and has turned away from that lifestyle. I do believe it goes against nature and the Bible clearly says that it does. I also know several other people who have come out of the homosexual lifestyle and are serving the Lord Jesus today. These people found help here:Exodus International . I will be praying for you. God bless you and guide You. In His Great Love, ellie
  12. Amen Brother, amen
  13. Agreed Pastor Marc, I will be praying, but I am finished with taking SS seriously. He is not here to learn, he has proven he is here to provoke and to ridicule. In His Love, ellie
  14. I have to disagree about one practice being like the other. Female mutilation as it is being discussed here is not done in a hospital setting with anesthesia and neither is it performed for the reasons Young Pastor Marc stated circumcision is. By saying 'your own offensive practices' are you saying these are Christian practices exclusively? In His Love, ellie
  15. Praise the Lord, Katie, that is awesome. Glory to God in the Highest.
  16. Hi Everyone: I had a discussion recently with a Christian brother who felt that miracles were only for the beginning church and are not for today I had to beg to differ with him, very lovingly of course, for I have witnessed so many first hand that I can hardly keep track of them all. Here are just a few: 1. two years ago my little niece who was born with a serious heart defect (hole in her heart and other cardiac problems with the aorta) was completely healed by God. When the doctors cracked open her chest to do the surgery (which should have taken 5 hours) they found her heart healed, glory to God. 2. Last November I slipped and fell in the shower dislocating my shoulder and breaking my upper arm. It was a blizzard here in Pinedale WY, and it happened after clinic hours. The nearest ER was Jackson Hole which is 78 miles away and the road was closed. After getting dressed with the help of my husband we decided our best bet was to trust God. My husband laid hands on my upper arm and we prayed for an hour over it. It felt considerably better afterwards. Even though my shoulder still hurt (I had dislocated it in the past and had xrays) we went to bed and decided to visit the local clinic in the morning for a follow up. The doctor took xrays and came in to show them to us. She pointed to a small tear in my rotator cuff and said that my shoulder had dislocated and had already gone back in position and that was what the tear was from. Then she said, "When did you break your upper arm?" I told her last night. She said, "No this is an old break it is healed so beautifully that the fracture has calcified already". I told her that might be so, but I had never before last night broken my arm. She then asked for an explanation, we witnessed to her for over twenty minutes on God's power and prayer. Before we left she asked my permission to look at the old xray from years before where I had dislocated my shoulder to see if the fracture was evident on it. We agreed, and she then said she would send them to a radiologist in Jackson. The greatest part was what she said before we left "Just in case there is something to this prayer thing, I am interviewing a doctor today for a position here at the clinic, would you pray that he will come on board I really need the help." We prayed and he was hired by the clinic. Two weeks later I got a call from her office, the fracture was not evident on the former xray and the radiologist concluded that the fracture was healed and fused beautifully, they stopped short of calling it a miracle, but I was praising God to anyone who would listen, and still am. How about you, seen any miracles?
  17. This practice can be dated to the time of Moses and was given to the Jewish race, it isn't a Christian practice exclusively, it originated as a Jewish practice, some Christians do have their male babies circumcised but I know many unbelievers who do this as well. Done in a hospital setting with anesthesia it is a common practice, and is much more prevalent and ceremonial in the Jewish race. Here it is explained in the books of Acts chapter fifteen beginning in verse three: 3So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, describing the conversion of the Gentiles; and they caused great joy to all the brethren. 4And when they had come to Jerusalem, they were received by the church and the apostles and the elders; and they reported all things that God had done with them. 5But some of the sect of the Pharisees who believed rose up, saying,
  18. I am ready, not only for Jesus to return, but ready daily to lead others to Christ for salvation. Live in a state of readiness, but be found on that day doing the Father's business, bringing souls into the Kingdom. Even so, Come Lord Jesus, your bride has made herself ready. All Glory to God. In His Love, ellie
  19. Tolerance in itself is not really a Christian teaching, as the definition of tolerance is to literally 'put up' with something. Christian's are not to tolerate evil for example. Jesus did not 'tolerate' the money changers in the temple, he may have still loved them, but He didn't 'put up' with them. I will respect others to have and espouse their own belief, but I will never tolerate evil. Tolerance has led to atrocities in many instances, for instance suppose we had tolerated Hitler's beliefs to eradicate all Jews (and anyone he considered to be defective in the human race)? Not a pretty picture as to what might have happened there. I can have respect for your right to be an agnostic but if that belief then led to mass murder I certainly wouldn't tolerate that. There really is a difference. Many people are confused about this, and that is why so often Christian's are labeled intolerant bigots. I guess the question would be, "would you rather be loved and respected, or tolerated"? In His Love, ellie
  20. Marc Thanks, for that wonderful defense of God's word, I just wanted to add one more thing to it. The Bible is the most quoted book in history, so if by chance anyone were ever able to destroy it (and like you said many have tried) it could be reconstructed in its entirety by compiling quotes of scripture from the books found in an average library. Praise God, for His truth marches on. Way to defend the faith brother. In His great Love, ellie
  21. I think faith is the factor here, you either want to believe in the Bible as the inerrant word of God or you don't. The same thing with Jesus Christ, you either want to believe in Him or you don't, and if you don't then no amount of convincing on my part or any other Christian's part will sway you. I happen to believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior, I happen to believe in the inerrant Word of God set forth in scripture. But I also respect your right not to believe. We all have free will, so I guess I have to wonder what are you still waiting for S.S.? Will any amount of evidence be enough for someone who doesn't want to believe in God? Because that is truly what faith is about, I believe the Bible to be true and I believe that Jesus said "Blessed are those who do not see, yet still believe". Faith is acceptance, I didn't need to be convinced, when the good news of the gospel was presented to me I had the faith of a little child and I just believed it to be so. I guess if you are waiting for evidence S.S. there is plenty to be found in the study of nature, and you could always ask Jesus to reveal himself to you. Free will means not having to bend someone's arm behind their back to get them to believe. You can choose not to. It really is that simple. As a follower of Jesus Christ I want to believe and so no amount of evidence that anyone would present to me that would seem to dispute what I believe in to be the truth would sway my belief. In short, I do not bother with arguing, my job as a Christian is to point others to the Person of Jesus Christ in order for them to be forgiven and come to salvation. I don't need to argue with them in order to get them to believe or to convict them, that is the Holy Spirit's office. In His Wonderful Love, ellie
  22. Hi Chad, I hope that you do not let the atheists chase you away, don't give them that much power in your life. Keep your eyes on Jesus, brother and keep on shining your light. God will sort it all out in the end. The truth will be known in the end and the only thing that will matter then is did each of us choose well. There will always be people in this life we do not agree with, we can still treat them with the love of Jesus no matter what they do or do not believe. Matt. 5:44 44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
  23. Goodbye
  24. I'm starting to find more favorites after reading all of yours.
  25. Brother Andrew, we can learn a lot from him, Leonard. My husband and I read God's Smuggler out loud once a year, we are currently on chapter ten. I just love how God met all of his needs in a Royal Way. Rees Howells too was an incredible intercessor. He lived in an attitude of prayer. Glory to God for these fine expamples.
