  1. The canonization of Scripture is not a topic that can be easily covered, but let me give a brief overview. I will not talk about the Old Testament much other than to say that Jesus accepted the Old Testament as we have it through His use of it and His calling it the word of God. The New Testament process (very brief sketch) works this way: 1. Apostles or prophets wrote letters, gospels, and other literature. 2. The church received this work and viewed it as being authoritative for life and practice. 3. Distinctions were made between writings which were helpful, and writings which were Authoritative. 4. Very early on those authoritative books were called Scripture. Paul refers to Luke's writing as Scripture in 1 Timothy and Peter refers to Paul's writings as Scripture in 2 Peter. 5. When heretics begin to gain sway the church wrote down, which documents they were authoritative and which were not. This was not done arbitrarily, but rather had certain criteria, with the main one being its connection to an apostle. Hope this helps. www.studyyourbibleonline.com
  2. Fullness in Scripture is a loaded theological word. It is not so much an arbitrary number, but instead "fullness" refers to all the Gentiles that will be saved. Not a single Gentile who will be saved, will be left out of God's salvation. God has room for them all! www.studyyourbibleonline.com
  3. I would start with Exodus 25 and work my way through that, then i would go over to Hebrews and see the fulfillment of the Tabernacle and the work and ministry of Christ. http://www.studyyourbibleonline.com My link
  4. How does this fit with Paul's clear teaching that the Advent will come like a thief in the night in 1 Thessalonians 5? www.studyyourbibleonline.com
  5. I do think we need to spend more time teaching the word of God and less time dealing with personalities. On my website I make the word of God paramount and stay away from name calling. Even if I have to deal with a teaching that I believe is outside the realm of God's revealed truth I think it is important to spend my time on the argument than on the man. I know there are times when we need to warn people of certain individuals, but I think some of these heresy hunting sites have taken it to an unhealthy extreme. I think in general man needs to spend more time in the word of God, and less time worried about what preacher "so and so" is saying. www.studyyourbibleonline.com My link
  6. The problem with word of faith is what you are believing God for? Christianity and our relationship with God is not simple about getting more money and possessions. In fact the book of Luke states that riches are a curse not a blessing. James warns us not to ask because of our selfish desires. Also what about passages that teach we are to suffer like Jesus suffered (I Peter 2:18ff). The early church was a suffering church. A despised church. A poor people, but God was pleased with them. The promises of God are that He will be there in the storm, not that He will remove all storms. www.studyyourbibleonline.com
  7. It is easy in today's world to put God on the backburner. We have so many blessings that should point us to God, but instead they seem to be curses. Instead of giving God our all. Giving him our time, our hearts, our talents. We live God with the leftovers. Shame on us. Shame on me. I recently went more indepth on the subject of leftovers from Malachi. I do not want to take over the comments section, but you can read it here.
  8. I think John's gospel emphasizes this point the most. John measures Jesus ministry by passover feasts. John the Baptist introduces Jesus as the Lamb of God. On the cross John quotes the Scripture about no bones being broken. This is a quotation from the passover lamb section in Exodus. The point John makes is Jesus is now our passover lamb. www.studyyourbibleonline.com
  9. Holy/Holiness has two parts. First God declares us Holy when we are justified before Him. This is normally called initial sanctification. God declares someone or something holy. In the case of the 1 Corinthians verse this is God calling the marriage holy. Second, we become holy and behave in holiness as Christians. This is a process (normally called sanctification) where we live the world and draw closer to God. I like to illustrate it like a journey. God puts you on the road at the beginning and then as Christian (with the continual help of God and His Spirit) we walk that road, away from our life of sin and into a life in line with Jesus. www.studyyourbibleonline.com
  10. Fellowship is something that is misunderstood. It is not simply a gathering together, but instead it is a joint participation in "spiritual activities." This would include prayer, bible study, working together for the advancement of the gospel, edification, etc... Fellowship can be hard work, but it does include amazing benefits. I wrote about this recently at http://www.studyyourbibleonline.com/bible-study/new-fellowship/
