  1. Bling! The light comes on! Great observation - thank-you! thanks, nebula. i hope i'm right!
  2. why would anyone believe in God Almighty, but then suggest doubt in His ability to create the earth in six days? God's Word is God's Word, right? just the same way i dare to believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for me and rose again BECAUSE HIS WORD SAYS SO, that's the same way i believe God created the earth in six days. unless there's some allegory about salvation which we've not found yet. honestly, if we go down this imagery road, which parts of the bible can we believe at all - and you know if that's the case then everyone's gonna have their own different parts. then the Word of God loses its meaning and truth. either it's all true, or just throw it out with the rest of the trash.
  3. it doesn't really surprise me, to be honest. various branches of the 'public' church that claim to stand for Christ are compromising the truth with this world's version of life at an alarming rate, just to seem credible and 'with it'. as a result, our witness actually becomes tainted. Lord help us.
  4. we are told over and over again by the Lord: "Fear not." i know it's one thing to talk about something, and quite another to do it, but if you're feeling really brave you can smile at them and say: 'that's just not true', and walk away. they have an opinion about a matter, and you just happen to have the opposite opinion. they probably know it's true but just figure because you don't say anything back then you must be easy to pick on. just because someone's respectful doesn't mean that they're automatically a push-over; you have nothing to prove to them, you just need to get on with you're job. walking away shows strength and self-control - the same spirit that timothy tells us God has given us. this can feel even more daunting if you're having to deal with someone in authority over you - but if that's the case there's no real need to feel, as we follow others as they follow Christ, and if they're not following Christ then you're actually the one in true authority over them (Spiritual has more value than man-appointed authority). what matters is how you use the authority Christ has given you - i find the best way to use it is in prayer and blessing, as others have already said. i genuinely feel for you, as i have been in this situation many a time - sometimes in the work-place too. let us know how it works out:thumbsup:
  5. are you saying that balaam did disobey and followed the greed in his heart? some seem unsure of that...
  6. Numbers 6: 24The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
  7. Numbers 22: 9And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee? 10And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying, 11Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out. 12And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed. 13And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you. 14And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us. 15And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable than they. 16And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me: 17For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people. 18And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more. 19Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more. 20And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do. 21And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab. 22And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him. PLEASE feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but: in verse 12 God clearly tells Balaam not to go with these men and curse Israel and He tells him why. Balaam obeys this time and sticks to the plan. in verse 18, Balaam seems to continuing obedience by asking God what to do again. however, God tells Balaam in verse 20 that this time around, only if the men come to him should he go with them, and at that only to speak what He tells him to. the problem came in verse 21 when Balaam just went ahead anyway without waiting to be collected, and so we see in verse 21 God's anger kindled because he didn't wait til the men came for him - he just went. he ignores the instruction given to him and does his own thing. for me it's not a contradiction, but two separate instances. one time, Balaam obeyed, one time he didn't. simples.
  8. Ask the LORD whether what I am saying is true. I admit that I was off on a couple of details, however, the conclusion that persecution coming to believers in America, is certain. When I made the comparison between the school board shooting and what happened to the KJV translators it was not to cause contention among the body of Christ, but to let us know that dark times are coming upon us, and what we can do about it. We are never instructed in the Bible to pray for a revelation of truth. Second, Christians have always been subjected to some form of persecution, right from the beginning of the church. Good times, dark times, happy times, sad times - bring it on, baby, God's in control and it's all going to be okay. We might be a little uncomfortable from time to time but it's all going to turn out alright. you have GOT to be kidding me. we're not instructed to pray of a revelation of many things specifically, but i'm sure God won't mind. after all, He did say, "Ask Me anything in My Name, and it shall be given unto you." Jesus' disciples were always asking Him for revelation of His parables, and He even gave them a very long an detailed answer about the end times - warning of a tribulation that was to come at the very end the likes of which has never been seen before it - not to mention: Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Go and read your Bible, Paul, you've got some brushing up to do.
  9. i must say, as a young child Christmas was the utmost sacred event for me, but as i have grown older and seen how the world treats the day as a commercial money-grabbing milk-out and treat the message behind the celebration with contempt, it has certainly lost some lustre in my eyes. i pray i can maintain the joy for my little ones in grasping the gospel truth, and that i will be able to enjoy it myself once again, and not feel so dissappointed about the whole affair.
  10. psalm 139, Isaiah 54 from verse 11 onwards, 1 Corinthians 12. Know that you are loved. Amen!!!!
  11. where in the Bible does it identify satan as a dragon of egypt?
  12. hi, i see no reason to doubt you, just wondering where you got that info from:)
  13. matt, i'm afraid you're right on the nose. we all need to wake up.
  14. i'm not sure if 'v' really stands for anything, apart from what it is in the film, and even if it does have parallels to guy fawkes, the gunman may not have been aware of them at all. however i do believe that God can use anyone & any situation to speak through, even without their knowledge or them having to be christian. i do believe that history repeasts itself and i do believe persecution is coming. interesting stuff, thanks for the post:thumbsup:
