  1. Thank you for the clarification Yes, but the Scripture you used had nothing to do with the context of creation. The reference was to fulfillment of prophecy. Yes, I got that the first time. You missed the point. You inferred that Nebula said that said that Jesus ONLY appeared to his disciples. I simply pointed out that Nebula did not say that Jesus only appeared to His disciples.
  2. Hi again, This is a very interesting argument. The question I suppose is...."did life actually die BEFORE Adam sinned and was cast out of the 'Garden of Eden'". In order to believe that this did not happen...you must assume that dinosaurs were actually a myth OR you have to assume that when the ice age that killed dinosaurs happened, man existed at that time and actually survived it. Either this...or you have to believe that when God said in the Garden of Eden 'If you eat of this tree you shall surely die', you must assume that he was speaking of a literal death. Of course, we know that didnt happen. In fact, Adam and his wife were cast out. Perhaps you guys could post your views on this, if you have an understanding of it. Wouldn't that infer death pre fall?
  3. Hi Heatherfeather, Christ existence is a matter of historical fact. Some question if he was in fact the mesiah, (which can also be rubutted) however, the fact that he existed, walked the earth was crucified by the Romans was historically documented by several Romans including Flavus Josephus, one of the largest historians of that day. Many theologist believe that this is why God delived him to the Romans instead of King Herod, who would have had juristicion over Christ's life because of his coming from an area under his rule. Herod did not keep records, the Romans did. I can provide you websites that explain more about that if you would like. Your faith is the most valuable thing you have and needs to be treasured and protected. Going to atheist sites like that is not a wise way to protect your faith if you feel vulnerable in that area. There is a lot of historical evidence that Jesus is real and people who deny that are being intellectually dishonest. I will come back with some evidence of His existence on earth, in the mean time, I'm praying for you.
  4. Hi Shiloh, Thanks for the post. I clarified the first comment about in the response to Candice. As far as the Luke verses, the bible doesnt specify that the travelers on the "Road to Emmaus" were disciples of anyone at all. As a matter of fact, it infers that they were just people interested in Jesus who thought he might be the true savior but were disappointed. . At least thats what I read when I read those verses. The verse out of Peter is not meant to be a fomula. Peter is not saying that 1,000 years =24 hrs. to God. Peter was answering scoffers who mocked the claim of Christ's return because it seems that since He has not come yet, we are trusting in an empty promise. Peter's point was that what we deem as slack, or slowness on God's part isn't. Christ's return is coming but the delay is an act of mercy so to give time for the mockers and the skeptics to repent. Peter simply made a comparison to what we deem is slackness on God's part when in fact, God is moving things along in His time. Nebula didn't say that Jesus ONLY showed himself to His disciples.
  5. Hi Candaice, My point wasnt meant to infer that there was literally 4,000 years between man and dinosaurs. In fact, I dont think the bible clarifies the time frame at all. My point was that the bible is specific about the fact that God's timing and our timing are not the same. So the fact that the bible says "on the 7th day he rested" cannot infer that 7 days would be 24 hour time periods. 7 days could in fact be millions of years. Darwinist use the 7 day period as a way of proving that the bible cannot be fact. However, the explainations can be found quite easily in the bible. Brother... a few points. The verse about a thousand years is not applicable to creation. And secondly, if there were 4000 years between dino's and man, doesn't that infer pre fall death? I might be in dire need of caffeine but it seems as though you are purporting OEC as an apologetics tool rather than a position from rightly dividing the Word. Can you clarify? Ta (thats ozzie for, cheers mate).
  6. Beyond that....it is greatly mentioned that indeed the bible has no explaination for dinosaurs at all. Clearly they existed 'before' man, although, there is scientific evidence that man existed at the end of the time of the dinosaur. However, if you read Job 40, this "behemoth"....well if I see an animal like this, I am calling the national guard! "Eats grass like an ox, strength in the hips, power in the stomach muscles, moves his tail like a cedar, thighs tightly knit, ribs like bars of iron"..sound like anything you have heard of pre-historic. Here is the next verse...."He is FIRST of the ways of God". "Only HE who made him can bring near HIS sword". How did dinosaurs perish? Nature! An ice age. An act of God. Your next question would be....what about the scientific evidence that dinosaurs existed quite a long time before humans. If in fact, God created the earth in 7 days, how does the bible explain this scientic difference? 2 Peter 3:8 "Beloved do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as one day". If you were to take this literally according to our watches today, the difference between the creation of animals in Genesis and the creation of man would be at LEAST 4,000 years (present time). The bible can explain the presence of creation. As far a Jesus just showing himself to his disciples....well according to Luke 24:13-32 that isnt true at all. Neither of the men walking the "Road to Emmaus" were disciples of Christ.
  7. Really? One of each? <One of each pair, should I say > (1) If dinosaurs were here long before man, why are there fossils of human footprints right next to dinosaur tracks? Soft tissue has been found in the bones of the T-Rex. How could soft pliable tissue be preserved for 70 million years? (2) Explain the presence of marine fossils on the tops of mountains. <Very good! No explaination. It proves of course that at one point these mountains were underwater. So you either have mountains growing from the sea floor or you have water covering the mountains at one point in time. Thus proving, the flood. > (3) The Garden of Eden would be physical proof of God's handiwork. Proof of His existance. If there was physical proof of His existance, there would be no need for faith. If people had access to the Garden of Eden, there would be no need for Jesus, because the Tree of Life is located within the Garden. <I like that answer too>
  8. Sensational fairy tales or historic document. For non-believers that is the biggest quesiton! Bar none. Are you kidding? The stories in the bible....you have to have true faith to believe them. A flood of the earth? One old man builds an ark that carries one of each animal? How big would that ark have to actually be? If in fact God created the earth in 7 days, how to do you explain the scientific proof that dinosaurs existed for thousands of years before man ever came along? Where was this 'Garden of Eden' if it did exist. Why cant we 'tour' it. When most Christians hear these questions, they become dispondent and get upset. "How could you question God". "God's ways are not our ways". True. God created us though and he knew we would be natural born skeptics. So he left scientific proof that these events actually did occur in the way the bible says. In my article (which you are free to view or not), I examine some of the proof in Part 1 of a 3 part series. http://www.examiner.com/christianity-in-west-palm-beach/dear-skeptic-is-the-bible-a-historic-document-or-fairy-tale-part-1 So here is the thread question. When you have non believers ask you 1) What about the dinosaurs? How could God have created the earth in 7 days if there is proof they were around a long time before man 2) Where is the proof the whole earth was once under water 3) Where is the Garden of Eden....what do YOU say? How do YOU respond?
  9. Folks....I cant stand to see this! Not at all. We are all believers. We come and we post for the fellowship of the believers and for the edification of non believers. If I am a non believer and I read people "going at each other" on a Christian forum, I think to myself "Is this what being a Christian is?". Remember, how Christ said the world could identify his followers. "How they love ONE TO ANOTHER". Let us have open conversation and pray for an open heart and ears to hear. No, it wasn't too harsh, because I don't care that you were talking to Fez. It would not make any difference who you were talking to. You were wrong in your assessment and that is why I responded. I edited my post to give it more substance. No, I don't. Nothing you were saying to Fez was fair or true. The narrative as I presented it is there for anyone to see. I am not speaking for Fez. He is capable and has spoken for himself. Even when he does you pile on the false accusations. I am affirming what Fez said in the spirit and intent that he presented his claim. YOU have tried at least twice to misrepresent his remarks to be something they are not and twice it has been demonstrated to you that your assessment was wrong and still you persist trying to protect your wounded pride. The problem was already there. You don't think making false accusations about Fez is a problem? Or is it only a problem when your claims are demonstrated to be false? I am not belittling anyone. I am pointing to your unfair and dishonest treatment of Fez. YOU were making false accusations about Fez. You simply don't possess the integrity to admit that you read Fez wrong. I don't really care who you have talked to. I have crossed the line; I readily admit that, but that does not sanitize your dishonest handling of Fez's comments. I don't abandon my friends. I certainly am not going to abandon them to false, and unfair criticism, from other spiteful and dishonest posters over something those posters are either unable to understand, or are simply too wicked to want to.
  10. I think I understand what you are saying. If what I am understanding is correct, you are saying that simply asking for forgiveness of sin without accepting Christ is in and of itself not enough. I would agree with that. If you dont accept Christ as your Lord and savior, I am not sure who you would be expecting forgiveness from. This sounds correct. Not quite the same thing.... Explain. It's the reason why forgiveness of sins is not enough to be saved, we must be born again. Because there is a sin nature that has to die, as well as the acting out of that nature (sins). The physical and spiritual consequence of sin is bodily death and separation from God. When we are born again, the spiritual consequence has been removed but we still bodily die. Sins, the fruit of our sin nature, were forgiven on the cross, however the earthly consequences of those actions still remain and affect us. Not just our sins, but the sins of others as well.
  11. Have you ever been sitting in a men's fellowship group and all of the sudden, one of the brothers admits he is a porn addict? All of the sudden....crickets. For some of you, even reading this topic may turn your stomach. It's almost like its better to admit that you struggle with an addiction to cocaine...but sexual depravity? All you need to do is flip on your TV to see that our world is festooned with people that struggle with this. Rep. Anthony Wiener sending naked pics to 6 woman through Twitter. The man just got married to one of the most beautiful woman in Democratic politics. Why do this to your wife? What about the woman who were sending pics back, knowing the man was married? What does that say about them? For many people, this is a sickness. Its an addiction and it's Satan's way of seperating you from your relationship with God through lies, depravity and thats just the start. Then comes the judgment of those who care about you, yet were let down by your actions. Pretty soon, the life you have been living becomes a prophecy in your life. Porn, sending inappropriate pics through phone, facebook or twitter, emotional relationships while you are married. Its Satan's way of breaking your spirit, breaking that of others and seperating you from God. But there is GOOD NEWS! Jesus overcame the world and he overcame Satan as well. In my brand new article, I talk about overcoming sexual depravity and a search for unhealthy love. I'd love you to check it out (only if you wish) http://www.examiner.com/christianity-in-west-palm-beach/dear-captive-being-free-from-lust-and-a-want-of-unhealthy-love Thread topic: Have you struggled with temptation? How has the Lord worked in your life to either avoid that pit or get out of it if you were ever in?
