  1. The above is from your original post when you started this thread. I have given you scripture, you may not like the advice or the questions; but if you wish to start a thread and expect everyone to agree with you, I'm afraid that is not going to happen. This is not about attacking you, but rather about trying to show you too look at your problem in another light. Perhaps, you just wanted everyone to say how sorry they felt for you? Pro 19:20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
  2. You seemed to miss the part in my original post when I mentioned how I gave the lady a token of my appreciation during Christmas, and how I did try to reach out to her in other ways. She simply overstepped her boundaries. I have a right to say who does and does not come onto my property, and whom I do and do not choose to share my life or time with. You're entitled to your opinion, and I am entitled to mine. God bless. Yes, you do have any right that you wish to enforce but does that make it the right path? A person is not there just at Christmas time, what would happen if GOD said,. not receiving prayers today, not listening, come back next week? Do you think Jesus would have said to someone , sorry you have overstepped your boundaries, don't have time today? We are called to be Christ like , 1Jn 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
  3. "Adopt an elderly person now, my witness of HIS LOVE goes beyond my privacy" My door is always open, good food, a shoulder to cry on and a prayer, or just a chat. I live on a foundation ,have about 207 neighbours and they all know that. Yet my neighbour is also someone up the road or across the pond. What example are we showing our youngsters? Sorry but when we turn someone away, we have lost the plot. Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. 1Co 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
  4. It's not about telling you what colour to wear. You can wear what you want. It's meant to be a symbol of solidarity. Do you refuse to wear a poppy as a symbol of war remembrance because you don't want to be told what flower to wear? So if you don't see a need for this in church, then where should it be done? If you believe that it is a fad that will be forgotten, then it probably will be... if everybody has the same attitude as you. Likewise murdered Christians will be forgotten as well, if everybody believes that there is no need for this sort of thing in church. Perhaps we should all go to church to feel good about ourselves and forget about others who are being persecuted. After all, it's not happening to us so why should we bother? Oak, while I happen to know what the poppy is all about, in the us we do not use the poppy the way you brits do. I doubt many on this forum in the us have any clue what it means. The story of the poppy During the First World War (1914–1918) much of the fighting took place in Western Europe. Previously beautiful countryside was blasted, bombed and fought over, again and again. The landscape swiftly turned to fields of mud, bleak and barren scenes where little or nothing could grow. Bright red Flanders poppies (Papaver rhoeas) however, were delicate but resilient flowers and grew in their thousands, flourishing even in the middle of chaos and destruction. In the spring of 1915, shortly after losing a friend in Ypres, a Canadian doctor, Lt Col John McCrae was inspired by the sight of poppies to write a now famous poem called "In Flanders Fields". McCrae’s poem in turn inspired an American academic, Moina Michael to make handmade red silk poppies which were then brought to England by a French lady, Anna Guerin. Such was the demand for poppies in England in 1922 that few were reaching Scotland. Earl Haig's wife established the 'Lady Haig Poppy Factory' in Edinburgh to produce poppies exclusively for Scotland. Over 5 million Scottish poppies (which have four petals and no leaf unlike poppies in the rest of the UK) are still made by hand by disabled ex-Servicemen at Lady Haig's Poppy Factory each year. Also, for over 90 years, "The Poppy Factory in Richmond, Surrey", has been making poppies, crosses and wreaths. Millions of people each year stop what they are doing and observe a Two Minute Silence at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, commemorating the original Armistice of 1918 which signalled the 'stilling of arms' and led to the formal end to the First World War (eventually signed in 1919). Over 40 million poppies are distributed by the Legion every year at the end of October and up to 11 November. Each and every poppy is a symbol of Remembrance (Source The Royal British Legion) At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.
  5. Amen. God wants us to pray before we do anything, not just when the going gets tough. Our prayer should be , Dear God, please guide me as I walk through this life. Help me not to act only by my own wisdom, but to seek Your will in every situation. Amen. "Don’t pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it. A man is powerful on his knees." ~ Corrie Ten Boom
  6. As you have enough posts now , I have moved your thread to this forum, leaving a link in the Welcome forum. Loneliness is one of the worst feelings in the world, especially for an elderly person. One day you too will be elderly. Reach out to this lady, there are far worse neighbours. Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. God Bless, Nigel.
  7. What is PS2? PS2 = Play station two, a home video game console.
  8. Yes, it was a historical date not only for Tesco but dare I say for all? Shopping reached a new level.
  9. "Tesco is a British multinational grocery and general merchandise retailer headquartered in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, England, United Kingdom. It is the third largest retailer in the world measured by profits Tesco is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. It had a market capitalisation of approximately £20.5 billion as of 4 August 2014, the 28th-largest of any company with a primary listing on the London Stock Exchange." More important are their innovated technologies, which bring a new meaning to shopping as demonstrated in this thread. It is said, that trampoline inspired bouncy aisles will be adopted by other large supermarkets in the USA. However, this will only be after new legislation is passed by the senate due to health and safety regulations.
  10. Oak, Good post and clear insight to what is going on.
  11. As this topic has arisen , I’ll post this for the newer members. For some threads, we clean the thread by removing provoking/insulting posts, ban certain members from a thread and reopen the thread so those who wish to seriously converse can continue. For others, we may remove some posts, but leave it locked so others can read the discussion due to some solid replies already given. When we discuss inside the ministry , we do not take any one person’s desires or comments into account, we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us and we move accordingly. Then there are threads that we delete all together. If a member wishes to have a thread removed that they started, please pm a Board servant or report your own thread and ask for it to be removed. Every servant lives in a different time zone and this allows most of the time for Worthy to be covered by servants. However, please keep in mind that we are all volunteers; have other things going on in life such as, family, work and personal obligations. When one of us log on to Worthy, we not only need to write and respond to PM’s but a host of other things. We try hard to keep up with all the threads and postings, the report centre for threads ,checking new members, etc. We would far rather all spend our time ministering on the threads but often this is not possible due to the; amount of traffic and other issues. We also minister to members in private. I'm sure this will now have given you a wider scope to what servants responsibilities are, and what actions can be taken regarding the threads on the boards. If you need more help or have a question please feel free to pm one of us. God Bless, Nigel.
  12. Thanks for posting this George
  13. I wonder if a lot of any agreement will not be actually told to us.
  14. An outline agreement on the future shape of Iran's nuclear programme has been reached after marathon talks with six major powers in Switzerland. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-32166814
