I think the Assyrian person is not the Antichrist person, but the leader of the muslim nations involved in the Gog/Magog event. The Jews have always believed and still do that messiah is going to be anointed as King of Israel. Part of the role of being the King of Israel is to have the law of Moses read to the nation of Israel, on the feast of tabernacles, from the place of God's choosing, on a 7 year cycle. That the Jews rejected Jesus, does not change what is written in Deuteronomy 31:9-13.

A Jew can be from the EU. The Jew expect their messiah to confirm the Mt. Sinai covenant in the manner given by Moses in Deuteronomy 31:9-13 on the 7 year cycle in the text. The manner is the reading of the law to the nation of Israel, from the place of God's choosing - which the Jews presently consider to be the temple mount. 9 And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and unto all the elders of Israel. 10 And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles, 11 When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing. 12 Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law: 13 And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

John in 1John2:18 as he spoke to those Christians referred to the Antichrist that they were aware who was coming. So how did they become aware ? Most likely it was John preaching to them of the fact. The person has to be a Jew as well, and his religion Judaism in order to become the Antichrist - King of Israel thought-to-be messiah by the Jews, for a while. Whoever the person is, he has to become over a panel of ten EU leaders. It will not be long before that person is made known. It has to happen before the Gog/Magog event because the 7 years following the destruction of Gog army (Ezekiel 39:1-6) in Ezekiel 39:9-10 is the 7 year 70th week of Daniel 9:27. Gog/Magog event, Gog's armies destroyed, verses 1-6. followed by 7 years, verses 9-10 followed by Armageddon, verses 17-20 Jesus returned to this earth, His Second Coming, verses 21-29

The dream is for what shall be in the latter days. Daniel 2:28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Charlie, it is only one kingdom, the fourth kingdom manifested in the end times. Referring to Jesus as Christ Jesus or Jesus Christ, for example, is talking about the one person - Jesus. You are trying to make a nowhere argument.

Charlie, Daniel 2:41 is a end times verse. The verse does not give the specific name of each of the ten toes kings of the end times. Their kingdom though is the EU. In Revelation 17:17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. The beast-king will thus be dictator of the EU, for 42 months, Revelation 13:5, and during that 42 months, will be the time, times, half time of Daniel 7:25 (about the little horn person wearing out the saints) and Daniel 12:7, at the time of the end, Daniel 12:9 Daniel 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. So all the theories about the pope, papacy, being the little horn and Antichrist, begun at the time of the reformation are wrong, since the understanding is sealed till the time of the end.

The clay is the weaker nations of the EU. And the iron is the stronger nations of the EU. The strength of the iron is the military ability of the stronger nations of the EU. At the time of Jesus's Second Coming. So people will not be confused into thinking the papacy is the little horn. And thereby developing a theory about pagan Rome and papal Rome to support their notion of the papacy being the little horn.

The timing of Daniel 2:41 is time of the end, when Jesus returns, when the Roman empire manifested in the end times as the EU. The little horn will be the leader of a council of ten EU leaders. And after the little horn then goes through the prince that shall come stage, then the Antichrist stage, then the revealed man of sin stage, to being the beast-king stage. In the beast-king stage he will be dictator of the EU.

Charlie, Daniel 2:34-35, is about the kingdom of God when the kingdom of Heaven is brought to earth by Jesus at His Second Coming, smashing the feet of the image, toppling it, breaking it into pieces to become dust in the wind. And the kingdom of God filling the whole earth for the millennial reign of Jesus on this earth.

At a discussion forum like this one, which interactive communications are done, there are others who differ with your walk through fundamental basis, who are going to point out the fallacies. Since no-one has taken you up on your walk-through, that should give you some indication that no-one here agrees will the fundamental basis. So, imo, I would abandon the walk-through offer, because the type of persons who post in a thread like this are well-read on eschatology parts of the bible, and have their own position. If you go to an SDA specific site and discussion forum, your offer of a walk-through, to support the theory of the little horn being the papacy, would be more receptive to them.

The little horn theory as being the office of the pope - the papacy - is a general theory because it does not speak to a specific person, an individual, who will be broken in Daniel 8:25 which he will be cast into the lake of fire at Jesus's Second Coming. The specific person, not an office of generality, goes through 5 stages on the way to his demise when he attempts to stand up against the Princes of princes, Jesus, in Daniel 8:25. The 5 stages about the person that God has presented in bible are fundamental... in order to understand Daniel 2, 7, 9, 11, 12. 1. as the little horn 2. as the prince who shall come 3. as the Antichrist 4. as the revealed man of sin 5. as the beast king

Charlie, that song, I rather have Jesus, has a special place for me, nearing the end of my time on earth, whether by death or rapture. Being blessed to having walked with Jesus for over fifty years, and nearing the end.. and entering the reality of a glorious eternity with Jesus. Thus, Daniel and other books in the bible for me relate to my relationship to Jesus. In Him, I am not limited to Jesus's first coming in the book of Daniel so I don't meditate on the book of Daniel being about Jesus's first coming only, but see in it my eternal destiny and the hope the book of Daniel provides. Since the little horn and the ten kings are time of the end - it is time of the end for everybody. But time of the beginning for them in Christ who will inherit the kingdom of God which has begun in the souls of them who have been born again of the Spirit, when they received Jesus into their hearts. I read the book of Daniel, with God in my heart, His love surpassing all understanding.

In Daniel 9:26, the messiah cutoff was at the time of the legs of irons. The Roman empire of the first century. In the days following the four break-up kingdoms of the Greek empire. That the time of the end manifestation of the Roman empire, parts of it will be weak (the clay) and parts of it will be strong (the iron). And that the weaker parts will attempt, by inter-marriages to the stronger parts, to gain strength.

The manifestation of the fourth kingdom, the Roman empire, in the end times - which the ten kings and little horn will be associated with.

Charlie, my conclusion about the little horn person is that at the time of end he will attempt to stand up against the Prince of princes in Daniel 8:25 and be broken. The statue in Daniel 2, in the days of the toes and feet, will be broken as well, and becomes dust in the wind, by the same Prince of princes.

Charlie, the little horn person and his activities are "time of the end". Daniel 8:17. So forget about all the historical arguments about the papacy being the little horn.

Hi Marilyn, in Micah 5:6, it looks like the seven shepherds, and eight principal men destroy the homeland of the Assyrian. Where do you think land of Assyria and the land of Nimod in the entrances thereof - is ? I think you were saying - Syria, Iraq & Jordan. It looks like the verse is talking about Iran, imo. Which would make sense considering the position of Iran against Israel. And Iran's military and operatives. It could be a part of the Gog-Magog event, as the Assyrian comes into "our (Israel's) land" in verse 5. I don't see the Assyrian as being the Antichrist - who to become the Antichrist must be anointed the King of Israel, thought-to-be messiah that the Jews are expecting. The Assyrian appears to be an established foe against Israel. Hi Marilyn, Just to be fair, this is the verse that is often used to support the Antichrist as being the Assyrian thinking. (back track to Micah 4:1, in the last days) Micah 5:5 And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men. If the Assyrian in verse 5 is an end times personality, I think he is the leader of one of the Gog/Magog nations - as the seven shepherds, and eight principal men destroy his homeland - the land of Nimrod. Perhaps he will be the leader of Iran. He will not be the Antichrist person, who eventually becomes the beast-king who will be broken by Jesus at Jesus's Second Coming and cast alive into the lake of fire.
