  1. How did Josephus know what was going on inside the walls of Jerusalem? He was outside the walls, to be able to write as a witness of what was happening he would have had to be in there with them.
  2. Well said Onelight, the only place I disagree is with the one who restrains, I think this to be the Arch Angle Michael not the Holy Spirit
  3. Roy (Retrobyter) can explain the view you mentioned better than anybody I've read on here.
  4. If he can get the guns out of the hands of the public he will be able to appoint himself king without fear
  5. Lol how about this one? Thanks that will work
  6. my feelings are hurt, I didn't get one
  7. While some of the teachings of preterists are good, particularly in how they deal with portions of the Olivet Discourse, please don't "throw the baby out with the bath water." They are most definitely NOT right when it comes to the future events ALSO predicted in Yeshua`s Olivet Discourse! While many of the verses in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 were directly addressed to His students standing/sitting right there with Him on the Har haZeitiym (the Mount of Olives), there were portions that CHANGED PRONOUNS as His vision projected into the future! To say that these portions were fulfilled in some way in the past is a stretch for the preterists, and they must resort to an allegorical interpretation in order to "see" them fulfilled in the past. A partial preterist point of view is better. I'm not saying that I believe in an established Partial Preterist viewpoint, but I'm saying that if one just reads through the passages normally, especially after harmonizing them in the Greek FIRST before translation into English, one will get the sense of BOTH time periods, not just the past. May the Ruach haQodesh (the Holy Spirit) guide you in your studies. No need to worry Roy,I am firmly grounded in my belief of a millennial reign and then an eternity with our Lord here on the new Earth. I still desire alot of help from the Holy Spirit in my studies and I truly try to keep an open, and a teachable mind. The way I see the 70th week, if we actually have the whole week ahead of us, it appears that some of it will be a repeat.
  8. Peter it seems to me if the first resurrection and second coming happened in 70 AD somebody would have written about it. I would think that, if such a thing happened today, the talk of it would be recorded world wide. I think it would have spread the known world in 70 AD also. Right now in my studies of the Word I have to hold on to the hope of a resurrection and second coming in the future. Like always it is a pleasure to speak with you Peter. Lets both keep studying and maybe one day we will know for sure . Enoch
  9. Thank you Peter for a thought filled post. I am beginning to think that some of the preterits teaching may be valid, but the majority of it leaves me with a spirit i'm not familiar with. It doesn't give me a feeling of peace and joy,it leaves me with a feeling of nothing in the future to hope for.Because I see the world and civilization getting worse, not better as the Bible says the millennial reign will be. My hope is when Jesus returns there will be no more pain and death,no more heart aches,he will finally show people how we are to treat each other and live our lives in a Godly way forever.
  10. How do you know all these things you mention are literal, especially the Second Coming? What verses are you thinking of that point to a literal second coming? Where was Jesus going and where is Jesus now? He said He was going to His Father and that He would come and take them (the disciples) to be where He was (John 14:1-3). Where did Paul say his citizenship was (Phil. 3:20)? What were all the Old Covenant saints looking for (Hebrews 11:16)? Where did they go (Hebrews 12:22)? Are we to fix our eyes on the physical or that which is not seen? How did God come in the OT because Jesus said in Matthew 16:26-27 that He was coming in the same manner/glory that the Father came in the OT. http://asiteforthelord.com/id15.html Peter Rev 21 vs 3 is pretty clear about God coming to be with us, Rev 19 vs 16 says he is coming back. The Bible is full of scripture about the second coming of the Lord. Second Peter chapter 3 is a good source of info everybody should look to and understand. Are you teaching that Jesus came back in 70 AD and resurrected the disciples that had been killed? Did John miss it,because the book of Rev. wasn't written until 90 AD,or are you saying the first resurrection has already past, and the only resurrection remaining is the great white thrown. As far where Jesus is right now,I think he is with the Father preparing the new Jerusalem for his people.
  11. Peter thanks for trying to answer my question, but the answer you gave seems to spiritualize things that are meant to be literal. I believe in a literal second coming of Christ and a literal resurrection of the dead at which time the born again will receive literal immortal bodies to rule and reign with the Lord.
  12. Peter when was that resurrection of the multitudes who slept in the dust of the Earth?
  13. I know my movie is a little different but I like the Griswold's family Christmas
  14. The people in Acts were ALL IN !!! Very few people today are willing to give the Lord they're whole body, mind, soul. And even less are willing to give up all their possessions for the good of the called out group.
  15. Another good company busted by the union way, recon obamey will buy the Hostess company for them with the tax payers money?
  16. But what do we do with the money we have in the bank, you know the nest egg we were hoping to retire with? Use it for TP
  17. Concerning the states in the north east that may not get to vote next week,I think Romney and bammey should just split those states electoral votes equally and start from there.
  18. To summarize your point: Gary, your wrong. Jesus is going to deal with you when he comes. Your really gonna get it. Scripture does not simply say what it says but is so difficult to explain how it all fits together that I won't bother to take any time to try to prove what I say but simply continue to assert that you are wrong and I am right. Now get behind me and start preaching pretrib! That about right Daniel? Gary This is exactly what I refer to ......you take what is written and alter it ,mold it into what you want it to mean and completely avoiding what it really means .. When Jesus returns he brings with him born again believers to rule and reign with him,,the only way that can be is for the saints to already have their glorified incorruptible bodies ,,when Jesus returns he has a physical body and so does the saints,,,they come with Jesus at the moment when Jesus leaves heaven to come to earth ,,there is no such scripture that even hints at the rapture happening after Jesus return ,,that notion is 100% entirely the misinterpretation of those who refuse to accept 100% of all scriptures that speak of the rapture,,,as it has been said many times ,leave out much of scripture it has the effect of being whittled down to fit what you want it to mean,,simple principle saints "to rule and reign with Christ" a person has received their immortal incorruptible glorified body Before Jesus comes to earth to rule and reign . there simply is no sufficient logical reasoning that can fit into saying the rapture happens after the return,,,that be like saying that the family is coming with you to the thanksgiving dinner , only to have to go pick them up at home to bring them to dinner after you have arrived for dinner,,if they come with you they are physically present with you ,,scripture clearly states that the saints are coming with Jesus to rule and reign with him do some research on the BEMA seat of Christ,,also known as the Judgment Seat of Christ....All Christians will be judged according to their works,,be it physical or their teachings anyone who has doubts should be willing to spend time investigating all possibilities , not expecting that other people should do the research for someone else,,when a person puts forth their own time and energy they will learn and absorb more than simply reading another persons post in a forum..it comes down to if a person really wants to learn . It takes time and study Danielzk you do realize all the righteous people that have past since the Lords resurrection are the saints he brings with him when he returns don't you. Then at the last trump we which are alive and remain will be called up to meet them in the air to receive or new bodies. We want be going to a place called heaven, we will be going to Jerusalem to rule and reign with the Lord.
  19. Another misunderstanding is when people try to say the "theif in the night" scripture is the rapture ,, no it is not speaking of the rapture ,, that is in reference to the 2nd coming not rapture....as per so often people who do not want to use ALL scripture related to the rapture get a misunderstanding ,, it has been proven repeatedly what scriptures there are about the rapture . and it has as always been ignored by those who Prefer to believe otherwise ,,, I still challenge anyone to Prove differently ,, but no one does because they refuse to take in ALL scripture about the rapture and use scripture not pertaining to it at all Nobody can prove you wrong if you will not receive the reproof. 1Th 4:13 ¶ But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (the first resurrection as spoken of in Revelation) 1Th 4:17 Then (places the timing of the next event after the first resurrection) we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 1Th 5:1 ¶ But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. Let him who has ears to hear, hear the simple straight forward message of the scriptures. Let him who has a computer cut/paste as much as he wills to rearrange the scriptures to say what they want them too. Of course anyone with a good imagination can explain away this catching up as not being the rapture or put a number of years between the catching up and the day of the Lord's return. I will simply stick to reading it as written. Gary Amen!!!! Gary I quoted your post so no one would miss it.
  20. The day of the Lord begins at second comming and lasts 1000 years. Seems like Peter says something about a day being 1000 years.
  21. WailingWall I agree with your assessments of the rapture theory. The pre-trib crowd has to add alot of speculation to the word of God to make their theory sound feasible. As Onelight says, stick with what the Bible says instead of the left behind series.
  22. You are looking at it from a literalist perspective instead of a spiritual/figurative one. Are you part of God's kingdom now? Is Jesus Christ not Lord and King? Has not Christ made peace for us with God? Peter What do the preterits anticipate with a hopeful heart, with a desire to be found doing the Fathers will at His coming,if they don't think His return is literal? How terrible it must be believing that this life is all that there is to look forward to !!
