I am an avid reader. I used to read anything I could get my hands on, but I am very selective now. I enjoy working in my flowers. I am very independent, taught to be so by my father and brothers.

  1. Thanks for your input BFP. When I was diagnosed as having clinical depression, I was sent to a psychologist One of the questions she asked me was I thinking about taking my own life. When I told her no that it was against my beliefs. She asked me to talk about my faith. Over time I realized that God would help me through this. She helped me understand that I didn't have a mental disease, but a chemical imbalance in my brain. That I could understand and when I get feeling depressed, I talk to God and he helps me deal with it and lifts me up. I do take meds for the depression. They help me get a grip and think clearly. I think it depends on who you see if your experience is beneficial or not, just as with a medical doctor.
  2. Wasn't the reason of Ruben defiling his father's bed because he slept with one of his father's wives/concubines? That is a good observation, I don't know. Genesis 49:4 Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father's bed; then defiledst it: he went up to my couch. This was as Israel was blessing his sons. Genesis 25:22 And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard of it.
  3. David was human like we are and although we know not to sin... we allow ourselves be tempted into sin occasionally, like David did. The difference being, when God punished David, he fell prostrated and begged forgiveness. He didn't try to blame anyone else or blame God for not keeping him from sin. David knew his weakness, that is why he pray to be kept from sin. However, when David did sin and was punished, he never complained about it.

  5. I guess I relate to Peter because I am impulsive and often speak with out thinking. Peter had his weakness, but he loved the Lord. However, I love John. He served Jesus longer than the others and if I am not wrong, he is the only one to die at home of old age.
  6. Thank you for your service, and don't let anyone put a false sense of guilt on you for defending this nation. At the same time, you need to realize that some people have a misunderstanding of scripture when it comes to killing. Remember "Sergeant York." He had a real objection to killing, until he got into combat. He wasn't killing simply to harm others, but to save his fellow soldiers, as well as defend his country. Old Zimm, I am sorry to say you are wrong. You are not a criminal. Christ told us to obey the heads of our government and as a soldier you did just that. There is a big difference between murder and war (honest war... not raping and killing for the pleasure of it) Remember what Christ said on the sermon on the mount. It is all about the heart and the reasons behind the actions. God bless you. I assure you I do not feel guilty nor am I ashamed for serving my country and God in time of war, matter of fact I would do it again. In the post you two are referring to, I was being a little sarcastic.

  8. I see God's humor in squirrels and man's battle over bird feeders. My son-in-law got me a squirrel proof feeder. Yet, I sat and laughed as I watched the squirrel figure out how to raise the top and crawl inside the feeder. My brother used to have a limb that stretched beside his carport and every day a squirrel would run across the carport and sail off the carport onto the limb. One day my brother cut the limb down and the next morning, the squirrel ran across the carport and whoops! One day, my dauchund ran a squirrel up and tree. The squirrel ran out on a limb and sat there looking at Buddy while he scolded my dog as if to say, 'you can't catch me!" The squirrel merrily jumped to another tree, then to another tree and ran down the next tree to find Buddy sitting there waiting for him. I wish I could honestly say that the squirrel had a suprised look on his face, but it sure seemed like he did! :24:
  9. During the Medieval times, people believed your soul was inside your head and when you sneezed, bits of your soul was being expelled through your nose. During the plague in Europe, chronic sneezing was a symptom of the plague just before death. The Pope ordered that all the healthy people pray for the sick and if someone sneezed, he ordered them to say, "God bless you." immediately.
  10. Wow! A court decision in favor of anything related to Christianity!
  11. i'll smoke me a good cigar every now and then. Ugg! I don't like cigar smell, but I love to smell pipe tobacco. I guess it would be the same with a nonsmoker around me when I smoke. I have to take some pain med and they are habit forming, are they as bad or worse as a cigarette. i am addicted either way.
  12. Be careful where you spit. In my town there used to be a law against spitting on the sidewalk because the old men chewed and most children were bearfooted... and of course TB was common in those days.
  13. Gary, What a post! this sure made me feel humble as I wondered about the things in my life that may not be in obedience to God. I am sure that I have some... some that come to mind... I do need to spend some time in prayer and seeking help getting rid of myself, my independence, and my will and give God complete control.
