  1. 1Pe 3:5 AMP For in this way in former times the holy women, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands and adapting themselves to them; We women are called to adapt ourselves to our husbands. That is part of the definition of submit in the Greek. It means that we are called to 90% effort to change ourselves, come under, adapt to, admire and cherish our husbands. This also takes a great deal of determination to make our marriages work.
  2. I also married an unbeliever and often asked God how long I would have to suffer for my disobedience. The context of the passage is definitely speaking of marriage. 2Co 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2Co 6:15 What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? It was 11 years before he was saved as well. God spent 5 years of that time changing me into Christ's likeness while I, weeping, travailed in prayer night and day for his salvation.
  3. While I was pregnant with our first child 3 doctors advised me to quit. I had developed severe asthma and it was endangering the baby. We quit together in July. He was born in November, 3 weeks premature and came home when 4 lb. 13 oz. His ability to suck was not fully developed and he was not able to tolerate formula but would vomit them forcefully. It was a struggle to keep him alive and to feed him. This all was largely due to smoking. Quitting was very difficult but we did it together and cold turkey. We vacationed in Canada that year. Hubby decided to try to smoke a pipe while traveling. He figured that since he could never keep one going it might help him get over the habit of smoking while driving, so he stuffed all his pipe paraphernalia into my purse!!! Tobacco, filters, cleaners etc were all crammed in, making it impossible for me to find money without emptying it all out onto the counter. Very embarrassing. In addition we were extremely irritable with nicotine fits. It was a most memorable trip. We camped in a tent which was not the easiest since I was over 5 months along and beginning to feel awkward and uncomfortable as well as irritable. Somehow we were able to quite without killing each other but it was about 4 weeks of hell. Hubby had been a 3 pack a day man for 15 years and I had smoke 1 1/2 packs for 4 years.
  4. My granddaughter named her last son Malachi.
  5. Got over the guy's studs & rings making me uncomfortable 10 years ago. I did tell my son that he needed to attach a leash to his daughter's nose ring lol. I do admit that the larger holes in the lobes give me a compulsion to peak through them.
  6. Pam 84 has been a favorite for most of my life. I asked for it to be sung at my wedding in 1963. My Soul Longs for the Courts of the Lord Psa 84:1 WEB For the Chief Musician. On an instrument of Gath. A Psalm by the sons of Korah. How lovely are your dwellings, Yahweh of Armies! Psa 84:2 My soul longs, and even faints for the courts of Yahweh. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Psa 84:3 Yes, the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young, near your altars, Yahweh of Armies, my King, and my God. Psa 84:4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house. They are always praising you. Selah. Psa 84:5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you; who have set their hearts on a pilgrimage. Psa 84:6 Passing through the valley of Weeping, they make it a place of springs. Yes, the autumn rain covers it with blessings. Psa 84:7 They go from strength to strength. Everyone of them appears before God in Zion. Psa 84:8 Yahweh, God of Armies, hear my prayer. Listen, God of Jacob. Selah. Psa 84:9 Behold, God our shield, look at the face of your anointed. Psa 84:10 For a day in your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Psa 84:11 For Yahweh God is a sun and a shield. Yahweh will give grace and glory. He withholds no good thing from those who walk blamelessly. Psa 84:12 Yahweh of Armies, blessed is the man who trusts in you.
  7. 1Jn 5:10 He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. 1Jn 5:11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 1Jn 5:12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 1Jn 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
  8. My USN hubby didn't get a tat either. Your comment however reminds me of the comedy "Mom's Night Out" when she confessed to her teen aged daughter that she had got a tattoo of Donny Osmond on her rear end. However, now that she is older it is starting to sag and looks more like her husband! I am still laughing about it.
  9. I hate large towns. Oregon also has some great seafood and many coastal fishing villages as well as tourist towns. There is nothing like fresh caught razor clams that are 6" across and tender! King salmon from the Columbia River doesn't even taste or smell like fish when fresh--so good! They also serve out of this world clam chowder. I was born in South Bend WA., home of the best ever Dungeness crab as well as Willapa Bay oysters that are delicious when pan fried.
  10. Back in the 60s my husband was on a JayCees bowling team. After bowling they would go to a tavern and share a pitcher of beer. (I often watched them bowl and loved the crab sandwiches at the tavern). Only one guy was a Christian and when the rest told dirty jokes he would tell a funnier one that was clean. I often thought about what a great witness that was. He never put the other guys down, joined in their language or vulgarity, but lived the life before them and was respected for it.
  11. The rest of the verse pretty much defines it:
  12. You can ask living saints to pray for you. Asking dead ones to pray for you is the same as praying to them. Not good. Praying or talking to dead relatives is also wicked. No communicating with the dead at all!
  13. Apparently that had happened to their teen aged son. Hence the warning to house guests.
  14. My cousin has a very exclusive home in the Sacramento valley. When we visited she warned us to inspect the toilet for rats before sitting.
  15. 1Ti 2:9 In the same way, that women also adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and propriety; not just with braided hair, gold, pearls, or expensive clothing;
  16. Our pastors oppose divorce but recommend separation in many cases of drug and/or alcohol addiction in an effort to protect the spouse and children as well as to convince the addict that they need to seek help to keep their family.
  17. Check and see if the speaker is dressed in animal skins. They are the first blood sacrifice to cover sin that God provided for them to wear that is mentioned in the Bible. If they are not clothed in leather you should might point out to them that they are not dressed in the clothing that God first provided for Adam and Eve either. Not that their theory is worthy anything to begin with. We are neither under the law nor under such man made traditions as they have concocted. Gen 3:21 Yahweh God made garments of animal skins for Adam and for his wife, and clothed them.
  18. The root of my unforgiveness (which caused my bitterness) was my self righteousness. God pointed those same Scriptures at me that I had pointed at others; this revealed my own hatred and self righteousness to me. This brought me to true repentance, seeing myself in all my ugliness. God also used this to show me the height and depth of His love. If He can love those horrible people, perhaps He could love me as well. He died for us all. In receiving His loving forgiveness for myself and being refilled with His Spirit, He enabled me to extend that grace to those I had once only held bitterness against.
  19. My pastor of a Disciples of Christ (Christian) Church was a Freemason. I wanted to be baptized so my mom talked me into having that done in a Christian Church because they immerse. However that meant that I joined this particular church. Later I learned that the pastor was a Mason and did not believe in the Trinity because that word is not in the Bible. However, he didn't teach the concept of the Trinity either. I did leave that church as soon as I left home. I possess one of the Mason's secret books and have read others that were very high level. They were extremely mystical, stating that they shouldn't reveal everything to new Masons but only to higher degrees in the order. It also stated that no one can understand the Bible. In spite of this people must read the Bible as part of the requirement for induction into the order. The Holy Spirit moves in strange ways because He used this to plant seeds of saving faith in my Dad. Funerals of Masons reveal that they teach salvation by works and by achieving higher degrees in the order. My info comes from Scottish Rite and Shriners. They allow people of all religions to join except for Mormons with which they share many similarities. So no, I would not join a church that accepted pastors to the pulpit that were members of Masonic orders.
  20. Strangely, none of my 3 grandsons have tats. They range in age from 21 to 24 and all are married and are committed Christians.
  21. Joh 6:57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. Joh 6:58 This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever." Joh 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. As others have said, it is feeding on God's word that helps us to see Christ more clearly. The Holy Spirit uses the words of Christ to infuse us with His life. Through this route the living water of His Spirit then flows out to others. We see God's dealings with Israel as well as Christ weeping over Jerusalem, that He would have gathered her to Himself like a mother hen gathers her chicks. Such loving compassion for those who reject Him. We behold Christ and are conformed to His likeness as we perceive God's heart.
  22. Oldest grand daughter is in her 30s and continues to get them. The other two have not. Husband of 24 year old has many and will probably get more. He is 28. I like his lion. Can't say I embrace any of the strategies. I just think the human body is more beautiful without them. Used to paint and draw portraits. My goal was to reveal the personality of the person in their expressions. I diminished the clothing by making it more impressionistic as well so that the emphasis was on the nuances of skin tones rather than being distracted by the detail in clothing. The same applies to tats. They to me are a distraction rather than an enhancement. That is just my values and my way of seeing people.
  23. My pastor still thinks it is around Dec. 25th and he has studied the whole shlemiel, star alignment, Herod's facts as well. He has it a few years earlier but came back to Dec. as the date. As far as the cold, we warmed from 3 degrees Fahrenheit to 20 due to freezing rain. So celebrate, give thanks for Him and it will warm the cockles of you heart!
  24. This usage was derived from historians of those days.
