@Willa Perhaps even how far you understand your Christian daughter's and granddaughter's having gotten tattooed with faith based content relates to the extent to which they explained to you why they found it so highly desirable to become tattooed? (or maybe they did thoroughly explain it...)

No one explained anything so I just try to ignore them.  I don't think anything helps.  They are still like an ugly scar.

if you drove your car at the speed of light and turned your headlights on what would happen?

According to the theory of relativity, it is impossible for an object with mass, such as a car, to travel at the speed of light. The theory of relativity states that as an object with mass approaches the speed of light, its mass would increase infinitely, requiring an infinite amount of energy to accelerate further.

However, let's assume hypothetically that the car could travel at the speed of light. In that case, several interesting things would occur:

Time dilation: According to Einstein's theory of relativity, time would slow down for the car relative to an observer at rest. From the perspective of someone outside the car, time would appear to pass more slowly inside the car.

Length contraction: Objects in the direction of motion would appear to contract in length as the car approaches the speed of light. So, the car would appear compressed in the direction of motion.

Massive energy requirements: As mentioned earlier, the energy required for an object with mass to reach the speed of light would be infinite. This is not attainable with current scientific understanding.

As for the headlights, if the car could somehow achieve the speed of light, the light emitted from the headlights would not behave in the same way as it does at lower speeds. The light would not "turn on" in the traditional sense because time for the car itself would have stopped. However, from an external observer's perspective, they would see the headlights emitting light normally, but the light would not be able to exceed the speed of light relative to the observer.

Please note that this scenario is purely hypothetical as it contradicts our current understanding of physics.

ive seen more of the moons surface than i have the earths

That statement seems highly unlikely unless you are an astronaut who has traveled to the Moon. The Moon is a celestial body located outside of Earth, while Earth is the planet we inhabit.

Given that the majority of humans reside on Earth, it is generally more accessible and familiar to us than the Moon. People can observe and experience Earth on a daily basis, whereas direct experiences of the Moon's surface are limited to a small number of individuals who have been on lunar missions.

If you meant that you have seen more images or videos of the Moon's surface compared to Earth's surface, it could be due to the abundance of photographs and footage available from lunar missions, telescopes, and space exploration missions. However, in terms of personal experience and direct observation, most individuals would have seen more of Earth's surface.

if butterflies could fall in love would they feel humans in their stomach?

The phrase "feeling butterflies in the stomach" is an idiom used to describe the sensation of nervousness or excitement that some people experience in certain situations. It is not a literal description of butterflies or their behavior.

Butterflies, as insects, do not experience emotions or feelings in the same way humans do. They do not have the biological or neurological structures necessary for emotions like love. The idiom "feeling butterflies in the stomach" is unique to human experiences and emotions.

Therefore, if butterflies were capable of falling in love (which is not something observed in their natural behavior), it is unlikely that they would feel humans or any other creatures in their stomach.

why do we search for missing people with dogs but we use people to search for dogs?

The use of dogs in search and rescue operations, such as finding missing persons, is primarily due to their exceptional sense of smell and tracking abilities. Dogs have a significantly more powerful sense of smell compared to humans, making them highly effective at detecting and following scents.

When searching for missing people, specially trained search and rescue dogs can pick up on human scent trails and track them through various terrains. They can cover large areas more quickly and efficiently than humans alone, increasing the chances of locating the missing individuals.

On the other hand, when searching for lost dogs, humans are often relied upon because dogs have a strong bond with humans and are more likely to respond to familiar voices and calls. Additionally, humans can use their cognitive and problem-solving abilities to strategize and coordinate search efforts, utilizing various resources and technologies.

It's important to note that both humans and dogs can be involved in searching for both missing people and lost dogs, depending on the specific circumstances and available resources. The choice of using dogs or humans (or a combination of both) in search operations depends on factors such as the terrain, the nature of the search, and the expertise available.

what really is a "pair" of pants?

A "pair" of pants refers to a single garment consisting of two separate leg coverings that are joined together at the waist. The term "pair" is used because pants traditionally have two distinct leg sections.

The reason for this terminology can be traced back to the historical development of pants. Pants, as we know them today, evolved from bifurcated garments that were essentially two separate leg coverings worn by each leg. Over time, these separate leg coverings were joined together at the waist, creating a unified garment. However, the term "pair" remained in use, even though the legs were no longer truly separate.

This usage of "pair" extends to other similar garments, such as shorts or underwear, where the garment consists of two leg openings joined together at the waist. It has become a convention in English to refer to these types of garments as "pairs."

So, when you refer to a "pair" of pants, you are essentially referring to a single item that includes both the left and right leg coverings, even though they are connected.

when i clean something i can never get everything clean cause i make something else dirty

It's common to feel that way when cleaning, especially if you're trying to achieve a perfectly clean result. Cleaning often involves moving dirt, dust, or stains from one place to another, which can give the impression of constantly creating new messes.

There are a few reasons why this may occur:

Spread of dirt: When you clean one surface, dirt particles or cleaning agents can transfer to adjacent areas or objects, making them appear dirty. For example, when wiping a dusty shelf, some dust particles might settle on the nearby table or floor.

Cross-contamination: If you use the same cleaning tools or cloths without rinsing or changing them, you can inadvertently spread dirt or cleaning residue from one area to another. This can make it challenging to achieve a completely clean result.

Hidden dirt: Some areas or objects may be difficult to reach or see, allowing dirt or grime to remain even after cleaning. It's important to pay attention to details and use appropriate tools to access hard-to-reach spots.

While it may be challenging to achieve absolute cleanliness without creating new messes, there are steps you can take to minimize the spread of dirt:

Use separate cleaning tools or cloths for different areas or surfaces to avoid cross-contamination.
Start cleaning from the top and work your way down to prevent debris from falling onto previously cleaned areas.
Regularly rinse or change cleaning tools to prevent buildup or transfer of dirt.
Pay attention to details and focus on thorough cleaning rather than striving for perfection.

Remember, cleaning is an ongoing process, and maintaining a reasonably clean and tidy environment is more important than achieving absolute cleanliness.

making toast is just cooking bread twice

That's a simple and amusing way to think about making toast! In essence, making toast does involve cooking bread twice, but with a specific purpose and result.

When you make toast, the first stage involves heating the bread slices in a toaster or toaster oven. This process quickly applies heat to the bread, causing the moisture inside to evaporate and the sugars present to caramelize. The heat also causes the Maillard reaction, a chemical reaction that results in the browning of the bread's surface.

After the initial heating, you end up with warm, partially cooked bread. However, it is still soft and not as desirable as crisp and golden toast. This leads to the second stage of cooking, where the partially cooked bread is exposed to additional heat for a short duration. This final heating process further dries out the bread, crisping its surface, and deepening the flavor through continued caramelization and Maillard reaction.

So, while it may be a lighthearted perspective, you can think of making toast as a two-step cooking process that transforms plain bread into a delicious, warm, and crispy treat.

I can't eve think coherently at 2 AM let alone answer stupid unanswerable questions or anything technical.  Go to sleep before I hit you with my pillow!

  3. MY grandson in law genetically engineers medical cannabis.  He is a paraplegic with spastic paralysis who uses it to enable him to get in and out of bed.  He has a college degree in his field and distributes it to those who are legally licensed to sell it.  The chemicals of the plant that are used for recreational purposes have been eliminated.

I support this sort of use for specific medical purposes.  It has also has been shown to be effective in helping with the affects of chemotherapy.

On the other hand it is not appropriate for a Christian to use or smoke anything to get high or intoxicated.

  4. YOU DO have a lot of questions!  I doubt that radiation has much influence on health.  My sons both work in radioactive areas.  One works with radiation and the other with chemicals in a nuclear reservation.  The chemicals have far worse impact on our health and genetics than the radiation.   I doubt that it affects brain activity at all except maybe that of hypochondriacs.  lol

Thyroid cancer is one of the slowest growing.  I hope your mom's thyroid is being monitored closely.

As for insects, all light seems to attract them, but they are not being irradiated.  Much stronger doses are needed to do that.

I am speaking to you as a nurse. who has been very concerned for her sons' heath and safety, so I keep well informed as to the hazards they face and the impact it may have on their health.  After 30 years in the industry they suffer from back injuries from riding dirt bikes when they were in their 20s rather than from cancer and they and their kids don't have genetic damage or strange heath issues.

The fact that many marriages survive is often no small tribute to the patient and sometimes Godly efforts of wives, indeed.

My husband told my daughter in law that I was the glue that held our marriage together for over 50 years.  He was wrong.  It was purely god's grace.

    1Pe 3:5 AMP For in this way in former times the holy women, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands and adapting themselves to them;

We women are called to adapt ourselves to our husbands.  That is part of the definition of submit in the Greek.  It means that we are called to 90% effort to change ourselves, come under, adapt to, admire and cherish our husbands.  This also takes a great deal of determination to make our marriages work.

    Hello,

As in all scripture, CONTEXT is important...I Became a Christian after I got married.....wife did not follow me in that journey for 11 years....we now have a beautiful Christ centered relationship...

The Unequally yoked passage..Is talking about a business arrangement, but does also apply to a marriage union...still we have to becareful not to Judge how God may be working in the circumstance.

THE BATTLE RAGES TIL THE LION ROARS,

     Clarence

I also married an unbeliever and often asked God how long I would have to suffer for my disobedience.  The context of the passage is definitely speaking of marriage.

2Co 6:14  Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

2Co 6:15  What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever?

It was 11 years before he was saved as well.  God spent 5 years of that time changing me into Christ's likeness while I, weeping, travailed in prayer night and day for his salvation.

    @Willa FYI., this thread.......

Did you ever have this challenge, to quit?

While I was pregnant with our first child 3 doctors advised me to quit.  I had developed severe asthma and it was endangering the baby.  We quit together in July.  He was born in November, 3 weeks premature and came home when 4 lb. 13 oz.  His ability to suck was not fully developed and he was not able to tolerate formula but would vomit them forcefully.  It was a struggle to keep him alive and to feed him.  This all was largely due to smoking.

Quitting was very difficult but we did it together and cold turkey.  We vacationed in Canada that year.  Hubby decided to try to smoke a pipe while traveling.  He figured that since he could never keep one going it might help him get over the habit of smoking while driving,  so he stuffed all his pipe paraphernalia into my purse!!! Tobacco, filters, cleaners etc were all crammed in, making it impossible for me to find money without emptying it all out onto the counter.  Very embarrassing.  In addition we were extremely irritable  with nicotine fits.  It was a most memorable trip.  We camped in a tent which was not the easiest  since I was over 5 months along and beginning to feel awkward and uncomfortable as well as irritable.  Somehow we were able to quite without killing each other but it was about 4 weeks of hell.  Hubby had been a 3 pack a day man for 15 years and I had smoke 1 1/2 packs for 4 years.

  9. Got over the guy's studs & rings making me uncomfortable 10 years ago.  I did tell my son that he needed to attach a leash to his daughter's nose ring lol.  I do admit that the larger holes in the lobes give me a compulsion to peak through them.

  10. Pam 84 has been a favorite for most of my life.   I asked for it to be sung at my wedding in 1963.

My Soul Longs for the Courts of the Lord

Psa 84:1  WEB  For the Chief Musician. On an instrument of Gath. A Psalm by the sons of Korah. How lovely are your dwellings, Yahweh of Armies!

Psa 84:2  My soul longs, and even faints for the courts of Yahweh. My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Psa 84:3  Yes, the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young, near your altars, Yahweh of Armies, my King, and my God.

Psa 84:4  Blessed are those who dwell in your house. They are always praising you. Selah.

Psa 84:5  Blessed are those whose strength is in you; who have set their hearts on a pilgrimage.

Psa 84:6  Passing through the valley of Weeping, they make it a place of springs. Yes, the autumn rain covers it with blessings.

Psa 84:7  They go from strength to strength. Everyone of them appears before God in Zion.

Psa 84:8  Yahweh, God of Armies, hear my prayer. Listen, God of Jacob. Selah.

Psa 84:9  Behold, God our shield, look at the face of your anointed.

Psa 84:10  For a day in your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

Psa 84:11  For Yahweh God is a sun and a shield. Yahweh will give grace and glory. He withholds no good thing from those who walk blamelessly.

Psa 84:12  Yahweh of Armies, blessed is the man who trusts in you.

  11. 1Jn 5:10  He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son.

1Jn 5:11  And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

1Jn 5:12  He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

1Jn 5:13  These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

You remember that funny little play money, monopoly MPC.

Back then I was also RCC religious and lost. In stateside duty, the few times my buddies went for tats was when we were half drunk building up the courage to go. And the tats they got looked like something from a prison artist spaced out, pretty crude.
Which I think they preferred anyway, to be different. Young and dumb, yet we thought we knew it all. Can only imagine what they look like today, a half century later....
Never regretted not having one back stateside. It was time to put it all behind me.
I became a PFC again, if you know what I mean. And yrs later, reborn......:)

My USN hubby didn't get a tat either.  Your comment however reminds me of the comedy "Mom's Night Out" when she confessed to her teen aged daughter that she had got a tattoo of Donny Osmond on her rear end.  However, now that she is older it is starting to sag and looks more like her husband!   I am still laughing about it.

  13. I hate large towns.  Oregon also has some great seafood and many coastal fishing villages as well as tourist towns.  There is nothing like fresh caught razor clams that are 6" across and tender!  King salmon from the Columbia River doesn't even taste or smell like fish when fresh--so good!  They also serve out of this world clam chowder.  I was born in South Bend WA., home of the best ever Dungeness crab as well as Willapa Bay oysters that are delicious when pan fried.

  14. Back in the 60s my husband was on a JayCees bowling team.  After bowling they would go to a tavern and share a pitcher of beer. (I often watched them bowl and loved the crab sandwiches at the tavern).  Only one guy was a Christian and when the rest told dirty jokes he would tell a funnier one that was clean.  I often thought about what a great witness that was.  He never put the other guys down, joined in their language or vulgarity, but lived the life before them and was respected for it.

  17. You need but one Godly person praying.

Jas 5:16  ESV  Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

Jas 5:17  Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth.

Jas 5:18  Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.
