  1. Sunday 12/1/13 Pastor Michael sermon The Power and Purpose of Thanksgiving-You Have to Say Something! Psalm 107: 1-8, 15, 21-22 Verse 1. Oh give thanks to the Lord! This should be our feeling during the time of Thanksgiving. The Pilgrims came in 1621 and the Indians helped them a lot with planting crops and surviving in the new world. They had the first Thanksgiving feast together, the Indians and the pilgrims. They wanted to give thanks to the Lord. Thanksgiving is not about Black Friday or Cyber Monday. It is about looking back over our life and thanking God for what He has provided to us. The book of Psalms has the theme of thanksgiving. Being grateful to God is what Psalms is all about. God is a good God! Let us offer the sacrifice of Praise to God continually with the fruit of our lips. We must open our mouth and thank God! The psalmist is telling them that God is good. God is not good based on what we experience but God is a good God and that’s that! 1) We Must Thank God for Our Deliverance from Aimless Living: vs. 4-7 God delivered us out and gave us direction. We need to thank God whether we are experiencing goodness at the moment or not. We must thank God anyhow. You got in the wilderness because of your own bad decisions. Thank God anyway! Still give God thanks. We made bad choices and put ourselves in the issues we face. You have to have a relationship with God to thank him anyhow-no matter what is going on at the present time. We must thank God! We must understand that there are consequences to our behavior but we must give God praise anyhow! Praise God because even in our bad choices, He still does good things for us. We need to thank God for not allowing the full impact of the consequences of our behavior to fall on us. Thank the Lord! Hallelujah! Praise God anyhow! We been thru the fire and DON’T smell like smoke! Thank the Lord! 2) Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So! Open up your mouth and tell someone how good God has been to you. Tell them God is still a good God. He woke me up this morning, put dancing in my feet! Hallelujah! Give thanks to the Lord because He is God! OPEN up your mouth! 3) God’s Goodness Never Changes: Even when we are going through bad stuff, it is obvious that God is going to work some good out of the bad. God cannot do bad stuff to us. The bad choices we made, we did it to ourselves. God is going to work some good out of them. He will work some good out of the bad stuff that we are in RIGHT now! Praise the Lord and trust God to work it out for our good. Bad stuff helps us learn to trust God. In the midst of the bad, God is still GOOD! God has a plan for us! All the stuff we have been through, we are still here and God has a plan. He is working the good out of what we are going through! Oh give thanks unto the Lord! Regardless of what we go thru, God does not change! Trust the Lord! Praise the Lord! Faith is praising God when we don’t see it! Praise the Lord! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! Praise the Lord anyhow!! AMEN
  2. Sabbath 11/30/13 Pastor Ken Christ Is Our Hope Romans 5:1-5 We are all part of a calendar. There is the church calendar that Christians go by. December 25th is the day we celebrate Jesus’s birthday. Jesus’s birth is our Hope, Joy and Peace. Jesus Christ is Love. In the next four weeks we will look at this through the eyes of Paul in the book of Romans. The Hope, Peace, Joy and Love of Christ. In verse 1 we exalt in hope. Exalt is getting excited about it. Why? We are excited because we are justified by Faith. Being justified is when God declares us to be righteous. Through Jesus Christ, God says we are justified. Then Jesus gives us Peace. Peace with God. So before we were at war with God but the babe of Bethlehem, Jesus, gave us the Victory! We have an introduction into God’s grace in verse 2. Grace is all about God forgetting our sins. He has forgotten them just as He has forgiven them. We have the Christian Hope in God. Hope with the Lord is as if “it” already happened. “It” being whatever we are praying and waiting on God for! In verse 3, we exalt God, we glory and we are happy when we are in tribulation. We lift up and celebrate our tribulation because it gives us perseverance and endurance. Jesus said he that endures to the end shall be saved! Perseverance gives us stronger character. It is like taking a precious metal and putting it in fire to burn out the impurities and mess that is in it. It comes out as pure gold. We come out with Hope because God has tested us and we know He will always take care of us. We have Faith in God and have Hope in Him. God lets us go thru tests and trials so we will be fashioned into his instruments of strength. Hope- the Love of God is poured out within us. God has poured out his Love to us through the baby in Bethlehem, Jesus the Christ. God showed and gave his Love to us thru his son Jesus. Love is poured into us and pours out from us to everybody else around us. We have Hope. We have Hope because we have the Presence of God in us. The Holy Spirit is in us! He is the one that guarantees our inheritance in Christ. Christmas is not just about the Son but it is about the Father and the Holy Spirit that is inside of us. We have Hope in the Lord God Almighty. Once we have Hope, the obligation is not to keep it to ourselves but to share it with others. Go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born!!!! AMEN
  3. Sunday 11/24/13 Pastor Michael sermon Overcoming Discouragement=You Got to Do Something! I Samuel 30:1-8, 17-19 You got to do something! You got to make it happen. Discouragement is universal and it is contagious too. Watch out for people who try to pull you down. Discouragement is temporary and it will pass. Most of us will face events that we have to decide whether to be discouraged or move beyond it. Let it not take a hold of you. In the text, David is away fighting in battle. This is the one battle he didn’t seek God’s directions for. This is the one time that the evil one sneaked into Ziglag, where David and his men lived, to attack the city while they were gone. Everything David owned and his wives are captured. His 400 soldiers had their wives, families and belongings taken too. They all cried for a long time and then they got mad. They got mad at David and blamed him. They forgot how before they met David, they had nothing, no wives and no money. They were planning a mutiny against David and were going to stone him. This was a discouragement for David and he decided to do something. 1) David Encouraged Himself in the Lord: He focused on God instead of his problem. How do you encourage yourself? Make a decision to lift up the Lord and not what we are going thru. David said he could magnify the Lord instead of magnifying his problem. Once you get in God’s presence, you will remember or He will remind you of all the other times God had given you power to overcome. David decided to bless the Lord instead of having a pity party! Bump your neighbor and tell them you go to do something! Lift up your voice and praise the Lord! Focus on God who has the solution to the problem! Magnify the Lord and don’t magnify the problem! We have to praise the Lord. When Popeye wanted to defend his girlfriend Olive Oil from the big Brutus guy, Popeye ate his spinach. Once he ate his spinach, he got muscles and grew strong. Our spinach is to praise the Lord. Once we praise the Lord, eat our spinach, we will get power from on high and have the victory! When Praises go up the Blessings come down! 2) Remember How the Lord Has Been Good to Us in the Past: God has delivered us from, drugs, bad families, unemployment and sickness. God has fed us, healed us and taken care of us before. So we should remember this and encourage ourselves, knowing that God did it before and He will do it again. Have your own party for celebrating where God is taking you. Celebrate God and you! Think about the goodness of Jesus and all that He has done for us! We cry Hallelujah! 3) David Enquired of the Lord What Specific Things He Should Do: Tell God specific things, requests and prayers. We may have bills due on a certain day and we need God to do specifics by certain due dates. When in trouble we need to pray specific. Specificity is important to God. Don’t pray general prayers, be specific. This is how we know our prayers were answered when the specifics things we asked God happen. When you pray, believe! Pray down to every detail. Be detailed! David asked God should he pursue the enemy or not. God said to pursue and that David would recover all his stuff. God said you thought you lost it all but all God did was put it in a layaway plan. He put it aside for David because God was testing him. A few days after this, David was crowned King. If David had been discouraged and got all down, he would not have passed the test and been made King of Israel! David recovered all their things and got all the stuff of their enemies too. In the Old Testament times, when people stole from you, they had to pay back to you seven times what they stole. So whatever the devil has stolen from you, he has to pay you back seven times what he stole! We get back 7 times what was taken! Thank you Jesus! Hallelujah! Thank you Lord God Almighty!! AMEN
  4. Saturday 11/24/13 Pastor Ken sermon Thanksgiving Philippians 1:3-6 In verse 3 we see that: 1. Thanksgiving is Personal : We are each thankful for different things. It is personal because each of us have different things and different reasons to be thankful. 2) Thanksgiving is Targeted: We are thankful for specific things. We are thankful for God and to God, the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. We thank God not the government. Target is God. 3) Thanksgiving is Relational: We should give thanksgiving for our brothers and sister. Remember folk and pray for them. Remember them and keep them in our memory. Remember the people in church today. They are your brothers and sisters so pray for them. Pray for all members of other churches too. Thank God for them all. Thank God for people that we like the least, our enemies. Remember them all, pray for them and say thank you for them all. In verse 4 we see the: Actions Related to Thanksgiving 1) Thanksgiving is to be done always. It doesn’t stop. It is not just praying for people. We should have care and concern for theses people, our brothers and sisters. Have some emotion for their plight and be emotional involved whether it is joy, praise or sorrow. Emotion is okay to have with prayer. 2) Pray to God: Speaking to God for others, this is giving thanksgiving. 3) Thanksgiving is Relational: We pray for people we do and don’t have relationships with. Our praying for people is a relational action. 4) We Must Be a Participant in the Gospel: Believe the gospel and walk in it. Persevere in the gospel, in the faith and believe in Jesus Christ. We are kept and preserved by God. He is doing a work for us and in us. In verse six we learn: Being Confident of This---God…… 1) Began a good work in us…… 2) Perfect - - He will perfect the work in us…… 3) Finish the good work in us….God finishes the good work in us and will make us perfect in Christ Jesus on the day of his coming back. *** Perfect = Mature, complete, whole, accomplishes the goal. When we set a goal and complete it. Complete it---get perfect, whole. God has a purpose for each of us. We are saved, being saved, truly saved, whole and complete. Achieve the goal- perfect. In verse six we see: “Until the Day of Christ Jesus” On this day we will be complete. Each of us are being prepared to be a present unto God. Jesus said He was preparing a place for us in his father’s house. He began a good work in us and He will finish this good work. AMEN
  5. Sunday 11/17/13 Guest Pastor Darren, Indianapolis- What Does Christ Mean? Luke 2:10-11, II Samuel 9:1, Jeremiah 31:34, Hebrews 7:27 Christ is not Jesus’s last name but his title. It means the Anointed One. The Messiah, Jesus the Christ, the Anointed One is the Son of God. In the Old Testament there are three groups of anointed people. The prophets, the priests and the kings were the only people anointed. This is seen in Exodus 30:30 and in I Kings 19:16. The Messiah will be all things and this is written in Deut. 18:18 and in Zech. 6:13. Jesus is the Prophet, the Priest and the King! 1) I Can Hear God……because Jesus is my Prophet! In the Old Testament, God only spoke to the people through the prophets. Jeremiah 31:34 We shall all know the Lord and be able to hear God because He has forgiven us of our sins. He has taken away our sins. Jesus said ”My sheep hear my voice”. 2) I Can Talk to God……because Jesus is my Priest! In the Old Testament, people had to go to the priest and he would talk to God for them. Now….we can talk to God ourselves anytime we want because Jesus is our High Priest. Hebr. 7:27 Jesus offered himself once and for all. Now we are forgiven for all our sins. He is our priest and doesn’t need to offer daily sacrifices for our sins. One time only did Jesus pay the fine for ALL our sins. We are completely free and God does not hold any of our sins against us. 3) I Can Live Victoriously – in Victory….because Jesus is my King! We can go thru any problem and know Christ the King lives in us and we have the victory. I can overcome anything! I have Royal Blood in my veins! Hallelujah! Thank God! Satan (dogface) is a created thing and Jesus is the Creator! We have the Son of God living inside of us and ALL things are under His authority! God is with us and living in us! II Samuel 9:1 David asked was there anyone left of Saul’s household that he could show kindness to for Jonathan’s sake. David had made a promise to Jonathan to take care of his kinfolk. David found Mephibosheth, a crippled man of Jonathan’s house. He was hiding in the city of Lodebar, thinking that the new King David wanted to kill him. In the Old Testament, it was the custom that new kings would always destroy any remaining relatives of the former kings. Instead, David brought Mephibosheth into his house, fed, clothed and took care of him from then on. Christ the King, made a new covenant with God the Father for us. The anointed one made a new covenant on the cross for us. Heb. 9:15 Jesus is the mediator of the New Covenant, made with His Blood! There is now no condemnation for our past, present or future sins! Jesus wants us to come to him and receive him. This is so we can become a child of God! Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus!! AMEN
  6. Sunday 11/10/13 Pastor Michael sermon I’m Next! The Process of Spiritual Promotion! I Samuel 16:1-13 God has not forgotten about you. You are next in line! Those of us made in God’s image, were made to want to do better. God’s goal is for us to become what He has ordained us to become. There is something greater for us to do, so don’t give up. We are in the process to enter into our next level of promotion. Many of us feel we are stuck in the same place and cannot seem to get over the hump. We thought we would be farther along then we are. We must remember we are in process. Being promoted has nothing to do with our intellect or our good looks or whatever. Promotion comes from the Lord. If we are not promoted yet, it is because we are still in process. God is still processing us to get us ready for our next level promotion. In our text, the people were looking at the external appearance of man to pick their king. God doesn’t judge this way, but He looks at a person’s heart. The one thing we do have is a relationship with God and it doesn’t matter how short or unattractive we may be. If we want to be spiritually promoted, we will be rejected by man. In our text, Jesse invites only seven of his eight sons to the dinner and he doesn’t even consider David to possibly be king. David was rejected by his father. Samuel had to ask Jesse if he had anymore sons because David was out working, doing his job. He didn’t even know about the dinner with Samuel or the coronation of a king. David was the only brother not invited to the party. But…David kept doing his job, tending sheep because it was the job God had assigned him to. David kept on because God did not reject him and so he kept obeying God, his father. When we are rejected by man and God blesses us anyway, we know who to praise. We thank the Lord! It’s a no pain, no gain situation. The pain of rejection leads to our gain. Pain leads us to prayer and into the presence of the Lord. Praise God Anyhow! It has been hard and difficult but we are still here! Praise God! We are in pain but in the process for a promotion! God will never leave us. God is processing us for our next level of promotion. We are not ready if we don’t have a history of pain. After some pain, God will promote us because we won’t get a big head. We paid the price thru our painful places. We can now enjoy the blessings. Some of us didn’t have a prayer life until we got some pain! Pain in life has us praying “Father, I stretch my hand unto thee from whence cometh my help!” We stop praying those cute little prayers once we go thru some pain! Sometimes we just moan instead of forming words to God. God anointed David. When David was in his pain, he never left his post. David would not have qualified for his promotion to be king unless he went thru some pain. God was his Daddy, his Father. God is our Daddy, our Father. Whatever God gives us, no man can take it away! When our natural fathers forsake us, God is our Father, our Daddy! Praise the Lord! Whatever God gives us, no man can take it away! We are Next! Praise the Lord! I’m Next!! AMEN
  7. Sunday 11/3/13 Pastor Michael sermon The Good Life-Don’t Wait For It, Live It Now! Jeremiah 29:4-14 Most people think the good life has no difficulties, no needs or wants. They feel that the good life is way over there, out of their reach. Most think the good life is a place, a person or a situation. We cannot control what happens to us but we can control what happens through us. It has to do with theology and our belief and study of God. God will provide the good life no matter where we live, who we have or what we do. If we have God, we have the good life. As long as we have a relationship with God, we have the potential to have the good life. God woke us up this morning, in our right mind and brought us to church. In our text, God is giving a word to Jeremiah to tell the Israelites they are getting ready to go into captivity at Babylon. This is because of their disobedience to God and their worshipping of idols. Their punishment was for them to be taken captive to Babylon. The word Babylon means confusion. You can’t mix God with everything. You can’t mix Him with the world and expect to have the good life. God is a jealous god and He wants to be the only one! Some things we go through because we put ourselves in the situation. God did not do it. The misery we go thru is what we brought on ourselves thru our bad decisions. We are getting the consequences of our behavior. Stuff we did to ourselves. God didn’t want us to do it, God didn’t want us to go there but we were determined to do it anyway. We made bad decisions and now we have to deal with the consequences. We need to Praise God because we are not getting the full…FULL impact of what we did because it could be worse! Mercy from God has spared you and me from a whole lot of stuff! Every time we think of the goodness of Jesus and how He shielded us, we should get Happy! Praise the Lord! We cannot complain. He had been too good to us! Praise the Lord!! In our text, God is telling the Israelites that they will be slaves in Babylon as punishment. This will not be their end though. God says He still has something better for them, the good life. God has plans for them and wants them to live the good life now in their captivity. They can do it by following God’s plan. We can live the good life because of God’s plan for our life. Some things God tries to keep us from. He knows that if we mess us, God has a plan B, a plan C, plan d, E, F, G…. Every time we mess up, God has a plan to make up for our mess up! God told the Israelites, while in their captivity, to build houses and plant gardens. Make where you are better. Make the place of your captivity better, Make the best of bad decisions, situations and don’t complain. Don’t complain but make it better! If you are there, make the best of it. Stop talking about how when you get out of it, then you will live the good life. Live the good life now! Stop complaining and enjoy where you are. Build houses, plant gardens, have a good attitude and live the good life where you are. Don’t go to your job complaining about the job. Make the job better! A lot of people wish they had a job! You need to not complain but make the job place improve. To get out of a bad job, make it better. Don’t go there with a bad attitude. Act like the job is what God has given you, make it better and don’t complain! Things don’t get better because we complain. Do something to better it and God will bless us and bless it! For a promotion, learn how to bless souls/people that curse us. No mater how we are treated at work, go there and do the job good. Bless the place and God will bless us. Just like David was working for Saul and was hated by him. Saul threw a javelin at David and tried to kill him. David kept on doing his job anyway and eventually God blessed him. God promoted him to be King David. God had to prepare David for being king. We have to show God we can handle the little stuff before He gives us the bigger, better stuff to handle. God wants us to experience the good life where we are. As long as we have God, we have the good life. God has plans to prosper us. We have to show Him we can handle things while in captivity. It will much greater when we are out of captivity. We need to act like we already have the prosperity while we are going thru the struggle. You cannot appreciate a good relationship until you have had a bad relationship. You cannot appreciate where God is going to take you if you don’t go through the struggle first. The good life isn’t based on what you have but who you know!! God has good things planned for us. Good Life, God Life!! AMEN
  8. Sunday 10/20/2013 Pastor Michael sermon Come See a Man-The Divine Bucket List John 4:4-15, 20-30 The 2008 movie, The Bucket List, has two men that meet in the hospital, both diagnosed with a terminal disease. They write a list of things that they want to do before they died-The Bucket List. They go out to complete the list and do a lot of things and go a lot of places. They both realize they are not satisfied because they need to get things right with their families. They realize external things don’t satisfy. In our text, the woman at the well has had five husbands, had given up on marriage and is now shacking up with a man. She has discovered that relationships with people won’t satisfy the internal thirst that we have. She is a disgraced woman who stole other women’s husbands, so she goes to the well at the hot noon hour to be alone. She is hot, she is perspiring, she is tired and then she meets Jesus. Aren’t we glad that we met Jesus? God sent Jesus to help us and not judge us. This may be why Jesus sent his disciples away to get food because they would have judged her and got in the way when Jesus was talking to her. This is like church folk-always judging and talking about you. Watch out for these kinds of people who can’t be happy when God blesses others. They are okay with things when people are doing worse them they are. But when God blesses someone to be at a higher level than them, that’s when they start talking about the blessed person. Watch out for those folk who forget what they used to do before they got with God. They were not born in church themselves, but they want to always remind you of your past history. God does not want you to de-value yourself for what you used to be. This woman had no female friends and came to the well at the hottest time of day. Being a woman she need to talk but she had no one to talk to. Men just used her for what they could get and then left her. She is trying to fill an empty void in her life with all these men. Jesus showed up at the well when she would be alone so he could help her. 1) Jesus realized her predicament and started a conversation with her: Jesus told her about the living water that He could give her and that would change her. She was spiritual bankrupt and needed spiritual water. She needed an encounter with God. This came just in the nick of time. Have any of you seen God show up in just the nick of time to save you from trouble? 2) Jesus received her personally by having a conversation with her: Jesus was breaking many barriers- the barrier between a rabbi speaking to a woman and the barrier between Jews and Samaritans. Jesus was saying that He was not condemning her but was trying to save her and get to her needs. Has Jesus ever blessed you when you know you were not doing the right thing? 3) Jesus redeemed her and confirmed her worth: Jesus wants her to get spiritual water from God’s bucket and not the world’s bucket. Jesus was giving her life value. The value of a US $20.00 bill keeps its value no matter how dirty, how stepped on or how used its gets. God says we are valuable no matter how dirty, how stepped on or how used we get. We have the value God places on us! God says we are valuable to Him! Thank God for not leaving us on the side of the road but instead He picked us up and turned us around! Thank God! AMEN
  9. Sunday 10/13/13 Pastor Michael sermon Greater Works! You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet! John 14:7-14 The motivational industry has become a multi-billion dollar business. Our motivation gives us our aim and drive to achieve. Pursuing life’s goal and motivation is not simple. Some of us have been thru circumstances in life and we have lost our motivation. We need internal motivation because listening to a motivational speaker can do external motivation only. This eventually fizzles away. Because of lack of motivation, we have started to “settle” for things that we normally would not bother with. These things that we “settle” for could be jobs, husbands, wives, cars etc. etc. We need to NOT settle for things. In our text, Jesus is telling the disciples that He is leaving them and for them to not be troubled. Jesus said He is the way to God the Father and then He says that God has greater works to do through the disciples. Their latter days shall be greater than their former days. God has great things for us too. God is not done with us yet! The devil is a liar! God is not finished with us yet. He starts his work when it seems that we have come to our end. God wants to motivate us. We will do great things. Jesus is saying you thought what you saw me do was great, but if you have faith, you will do greater things. What moves God is our faith! Jesus is telling them to not just get excited about what they see him doing, but they need to get excited about what God will do for them! Believe God can do it, but believe that He WILL do it!! He will give us favor, promote us and heal us. God will make a way somehow! We can do all things thru Christ that strengthens us!! Hallelujah!! ****Jesus told them that to see Greater Works they must: 1) See God’s Divine Demonstrations: When they see Jesus working miracles, they are seeing God Working. The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost. Jesus gave sight to the blind=that’s God! Jesus gave hearing to the deaf=that’s God! When we overcome stuff in our lives, we need to look around and say that’s God! He is doing the miracles, the break thru - not us but God, The Holy Spirit! The Holy Ghost that is inside of us does it! God in us is doing the miracles for us. God in us has no limitations therefore we have no limitations! 2) See God’s Manifestations: Jesus did all that God could do in the flesh. The disciples saw the manifestation, the things that were never done before: walking on water, feeding thousands with a few fish and healing people. Jesus said He was going to heaven so He could send the Holy Ghost to reside in the disciples. They would then see the manifestations of God in themselves. They would do greater things than what He had done in 3 ½ years. This was because they would have 30 or 40 more years to do things in their lifetime. Jesus said whatever we ask of the Father in His name, He will do it. Ask the Father in Jesus’s name and Jesus said he would and will do it! We have limitless authority! The authority we have in Jesus’s name has no limit! Go in the Authority of Jesus’s Name! You ain’t seen nothing yet! Greater Works!! AMEN
  10. Sunday 9/29/13 Pastor Michael sermon The Ultimate Supreme Court=The Final Judgment Revelation 20:4-6, 11-15 In the USA we have three branches of government and all people are to receive the due process of law. There is the executive branch, legislative branch and judicial branch. The Judicial branch has the highest level of justice--the constitution. Everyone is supposed to receive due process of justice. The highest level of court is the Supreme Court with nine judges. They look at the constitution when making their judgment. The Supreme Court hears the court cases that have come up thru the lower courts to be judged and/or appealed. Mankind is limited and cannot give an un-biased judgment. We think we are not prejudiced but we all have some bias. Many people who spent most of their life in jail are now being released because they appealed and were found innocent. God is a judge that makes no mistakes! People will not get away with stuff. Even though it may seem to us that they are getting away with it, God sees it all and they will get their deserved justice. In chapter 20, Jesus is there with us, the Church, to do the judging of the people in the Supreme Court of God. We watch the people who were talking about us being Christians. We will be on the other side of the bench in the courtroom with Jesus. We can say to them, how you like me now? We don’t need to worry about what people say about us today, down here because they will be in court on judgment day. We will be with Jesus and they won’t! The folk who call us crazy for following Jesus will be judged in the Supreme Court of God and we will be there to watch it all. The White Throne Judgment is for people that are going to Hell. Hell has different levels of punishment and this is what is being decided for them. Thank God that He is watching it all and seeing it all in His Divine Court System. The types of people in court are the unjust folk. These are folk that refused Jesus and get judged according to their deeds and works. These people didn’t accept God and just did their own thing. All the things that they have done are recorded in three books. **The Book of Life: When a person is first born, their name is put in this book. But if they are NOT born again, their name gets blotted out! Erased! ** The Book of Labor/Deeds: They will be judged for their deeds and have to answer for everything …..EVERYTHING they did! They are going to Hell and just don’t know yet what level of Hell they are going to. ** The Lamb’s Book of Life: All of us Christians are in this book. As we stand watching in court, we can say to all that we are in the Lamb’s book of life. Thank you Lord!! All the others are going into the Lake of Fire: The devil, sinners and demons are going to Hell including Hades itself. Hell is Hot!! Tell your family and friends to get with Jesus before it is too late! Amen
  11. Sunday 9/22/13 Pastor Michael sermon The Final Payday-Divine Compensation of the Faithful Revelation 19:1-11 For many people, the most happy time of the month is payday! People can be depressed all week long but on their payday, they get excited! We can put up with almost anything on payday. People hate their jobs but love payday. Payday is for people who have put time in for a honest day’s work. People who just show up for payday and don’t work, don’t get paid. The bible says if man does not work, he does not eat. It’s not complicated. People who don’t have a job right now, should go to work at McDonalds. Payday is an interesting time of the month because it reflects what we have done. Some get excited and some don’t. Those who have only worked only 4 days of the week don’t get paid much and are not that excited. Also, can I say that you don’t quit a job until you have a new job. You want to keep that little job until you get the job you love to do. It is a wonderful thing to go to work and love to do it. You will never “work” another day in you live because it doesn’t seem like work to you. Unfortunately, many people commit suicide on Monday because they are going to a job that they hate. It is a blessing to have a “piece of a job”. Be thankful for what God is doing for you. The 19th chapter of the book of Revelation is about the compensation to the saints. God, the divine CEO, is calling us to his office and giving us our rewards. He rewards us for our faithfulness to God! There is a celebration because the great whore –the world’s system is destroyed. These are the ones who did not come to God thru Jesus Christ. We should be glad that we, the saints, make it to the celebration because it is God that helped us. The saints said Hallelujah four times in the 19th chapter as they were preparing to get paid. People get excited when they have put in their work for the Lord and are getting their compensation! Praise the Lord! Hallelujah! There is going to be a party of the saints. A Holy Ghost Party is the best kind of party because a Holy Ghost Party won’t stop! Praise the Lord. To God Be the Glory! The people who qualify are the faithful who fear God. Rev 19:5 We give praise to our God, all who are his servants. The servant is a bond servant, a slave. A slave has no rights, no opinions, nothing. Those who are preparing to be compensated, paid by God, have lived a life that has been totally surrendered to God. It is not about them but it is all about God. They do what He says to do! The bible calls us ‘bond servants”. The level of our compensation will be equal to our service. It is like a teenager who wants clothes, a cellphone, a TV in their room, Nikes, but they don’t want to do anything for it. No chores in the house. They act like they don’t know that all their stuff is paid for by their parents. The teenager wants something for nothing! God shouldn’t have to beg us to do stuff for him! When the church needs volunteers, we are too busy or we say it is not our calling when the church needs people to help. Revelation 19:7 The Marriage of the Lamb has come. In historic Palestine times, the groom brought a dowry to the parents for the bride. Then for a year, the groom prepared and built a house for her to live in. Ladies, wouldn’t you like to have a man like this! Well, while the groom was gone, the bride prepared herself. The bride is the church which got prepared for the groom. She was covered by white linen-pure and clean. White linen means purified with no stains, in white with no sex- a virgin. Some of you know that you have been to weddings that had a bride dressed in white that had five kids! In Revelation, the bride is preparing herself, being purified by her service to God and being obedient to God. She is qualified by her obedience to God AND her service to God. The bible says we are saved by Grace thru Faith and we are His workmen! We were created to serve! If God has been good to you, you don’t need to wait for him to beg you to serve him. We should just do it! The Marriage Supper of the Lamb is to see who gets what reward on the New Earth. All of us will be assigned to rule somewhere and to reign over some place. This is based on who served God and how much they served Him. Our compensation is based on how much we do for God. We need to improve our service to God and be divinely compensated more and more. AMEN
  12. Sunday 9/15/13 Pastor Michael A New Song-The Testimony of the Overcomer Revelation 14:1-5 There have been millions of songs written and a song tells a story of one’s experiences. Many of us remember certain songs we listened to, to just keep our sanity. They encouraged us, inspired us and some songs caused us to move and sway. Songs have a way of reminding us of where we were and what we were doing. Some of us have “our song” that we still remember today. They take us back to the old days of where we were doing “stuff” that we don’t want to remember. Songs speak to us in different ways. A song will speak to you and bring you through some stuff. We, now as Christians, can make a joyful noise – a song unto the Lord because He has brought us thru so much stuff. We need to sing aloud to the Lord. Sing a song of praise to the Lord! Don’t let people shut us up! Open your mouth and say to God thank you for what you have done for me! Most of us cannot sing too well but we don’t care what people think! Sing unto the Lord because He has done great things for us! We can hear what people have been through by how they sing praise songs to the Lord. Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus! You become a better singer after you have gone thru some stuff and God has brought you out! Many people need to sing aloud. Sing louder! Praise louder! Worship louder! In Revelation chapter 14, we have 144,000 Jews that are witnesses to God. They are singing a new song of what they have gone thru during the tribulation. They have been through some things and have watched God bring them out of the mess. Don’t shut up! Don’t be quiet! Open up your mouth and give God some praise! He has brought you thru the trouble and you have overcome! When you used to be at the club, when “your song” came on, you didn’t care what people thought. You danced to your song. Now we have seen God bringing us through and now we have a new song! We have been given a new song by God! The 144,000 Jews had a relationship with the Father. They had a song that only they could sing! Their song was a unique song because they had been purchased by God. They had a unique song. They had the seal of God on their foreheads! Their experiences gave their song credibility. People heard their spirit coming out in their song! They didn’t wait until circumstances changed to sing! They were in the tribulation but still sang praises to God. They sung their new song while still in trouble, in the tribulation! In the Old Testament, King David sang and danced out of his clothes when the Israelites got the Ark back. David sang and danced for the Lord and his wife Michal criticized him for this. David told her she had not seen anything yet. He was going to sing and dance even more. You need to stop being concerned about people who have not done anything for you! Don’t care if folk don’t like it! Sing aloud to the Lord! The 144,000 Jews kept on singing because they knew the people on earth could only kill their bodies but not their souls. They had the seal of the Lord on them. They knew that with no mark of the beast on them they would eventually be killed. They didn’t care what happened to their physical bodies. God gave them a new song to sing. They had a song about their past experiences that God had delivered them from. God gave them the joy that man couldn’t give them. They were sanctified and set apart because of God and their relationship wit Him. Their new song is a song of their triumph! Their triumph is their testimony of what God and Jesus brought them through! A New Song! AMEN
  13. Sabbath 9/14/13 Pastor Ken Table Fellowship Acts 15:13-29 Many call this the Jerusalem council that stated these principles to the Gentiles. The local church is autonomous-independent. Autonomous means self-sufficient and needs no one. Independent means to act on own but needs someone sometimes. This is like when a committed couple comes together independently, but they are together. Local churches are like this. The church at Antioch was being preached to by Paul and Barnabus and certain people were coming against the Antioch church. The Grace of God comes free to everyone and this is what Paul and Barnabus were preaching. Salvation comes free thru the Grace of God. In verse 1 people came down saying it wasn’t by Grace alone, but you had to become Jewish and keep the old covenant. It was decided that the Jerusalem council would associate with the Antioch church. Paul and Barnabus has stopped at each church on their tour and told of the Gentiles accepting Jesus. The people hearing this had rejoiced. In Jerusalem, when Paul was testifying of the Gentiles, the Pharisees which believed objected. The Pharisees said the Gentiles must keep the law and be circumcised. Peter had a problem with this position of forcing them to be circumcised. Peter reminded the council of how he had preached to Gentiles, preached to Cornelius. Peter said the Holy Spirit wants Gentiles to get salvation thru Grace and Faith. The gospel is not to be broken into little bits where people say unless you are this or you do that, you can’t be saved. Salvation comes thru Grace. Not only if you belong to a certain church or read your bible everyday. Salvation comes thru Grace, Free to All!! At this time, the Jews and Gentiles did not like each other. If they brushed up against each other, they would feel defiled and go home to wash up. They, like us, need to have table fellowship with each other. No matter what culture we come from, we should have table fellowship as long as we are both believers. The Jerusalem council decided that there were four things that the Gentiles could not do: 1. Don’t eat blood 2. Don’t eat strangled food. Animals that were strangled and not been given mercy. 3. Don’t eat things that were sacrificed to idols. 4. Don’t commit sexual sin=fornications. Doing these things showed that you were not really a Christian and can’t have table fellowship with other Christians. The Jerusalem council prayed to God and then put all this in a letter and sent it to the Antioch church with Paul and Barnabus. The Holy Spirit had told them to tell the church that Grace thru Faith in Jesus Christ is enough! Faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ! Grace thru Faith leads to Salvation! We all need to live in Grace thru Faith. God is Good !! AMEN
  14. Sabbath Day 9/7/13 Pastor David- Who is the Woman at the Well? John 4:4-30 It is a privilege that we can drink of the living water of Jesus. We need to have the confidence that we can break down the barriers that stop us from sharing the gospel of Jesus. We can share the living water of Jesus Christ. The Samaritans and Jews have had a bitter hatred for each other for centuries even before the taking away to Babylon. The Jews despised the Samaritans so they would walk an extra 15 miles to go around Samaria. Jesus decided to walk straight thru anyway. He was intentionally breaking down the barriers that people had set up. The first barrier Jesus broke thru was just meeting and talking to the Samaritan woman. Jesus just talked to her. This Samaritan woman had three strikes of prejudice against her: 1) She was a woman. Men didn’t talk to women in public. Sometimes husbands didn’t talk to their wives in public. 2) She was a Samaritan. Jews despised Samaritans and didn’t talk to them at all. 3) She had an immoral lifestyle. She had five husbands and now had a boyfriend. This Samaritan woman was shocked that Jesus even talked to her because of these prejudices. It is God’s plan that we are all brothers and sister together. It is important that we as Christians break down the barriers and prejudices that are against people! All of us at some time or another can identify with this Samaritan woman. These prejudices against her are the reasons why she came to the well by herself in the heat of the middle of the day. She came when no one would be at the well. This woman was shocked that Jesus spoke to her and when he spoke he was honest and loving toward her. Jesus broke down barriers by just talking to her. The woman at the well is like we are today- out of place, feel barriers and feel prejudices against us. Sin messes us up and we need a savior like the woman at the well did. Jesus comes to us to make things change and become new to us. He will become our personal savior. The woman’s life was changed when she received Jesus. She had faith in him and went to tell others in the city about Him. It is the spiritual things that really matter because they will change the natural and physical things. Salvation is like Water>>>>>> 1. Water is needed for life………..so is Salvation 2. Water is a gift from above……..… so is Salvation 3. Water refreshes and satisfies……….so does Salvation For this woman the conversation with Jesus was the best conversation she ever had with any person. This man Jesus was offering her something new, this living water. Jesus was offering her freedom-spiritual freedom. He had reached out to a divorced woman. Water is fun and water refreshes us inside and out. Water is like’s God’s Salvation. Jesus was all about water. He walked on water. Jesus changed water into wine. He washed the disciple’s feet with water. The free gift of living water is exciting! Drinking living water--the water from Jesus gives us power. We must keep it flowing and realize that we need Jesus! verse 26: Jesus is Messiah! In Israel, Jacob’s well is between the Mount of Blessing and the Mount of Cursing. Jesus wants to bring blessings to us! It’s all about the Spirit and the Truth! Your identity of who you are in Christ Jesus is very important. The seven things Jesus said “I Am” in book of John. 1) The Bread of Life 2) Light of the World 3) Gate of the Sheep \ 4) Good Shepherd I Am ‘s of Jesus 5) Resurrection & Life 6) The Way, Truth, Life / 7) True Vine Jesus is incredible because He will sit down and talk to anyone! We all should want to get this living water! Get with Jesus! John 7:38-39 He that believeth on Jesus as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. This is the Spirit that He that believes will get the Holy Ghost. Barriers are broken when: 1. Jesus reveals Himself! 2. Jesus becomes our Savior! 3. Jesus and the Sprit of God change us! AMEN
  15. Saturday 8/31/13 Sabbath Day- Pastor Bryan sermon Sharing in the Psalms Psalm 84:1-12 Verse 10: One day in your courts is better than a thousand days Verse 11: No good thing will He withhold. Sometimes people reach the top of achievement and they are still empty. They deny it for a time. Just as Lance Armstrong was at the top of bike racing but was lacking. He was using enhancement drugs to win races. At the top but lacking! It happens all the time to common folk not just to celebrities like Michael Jackson and Miley Cyrus. At the top but lacking! When you get to the top, there is noting there. Achievement fails to satisfy all the desires of the heart. They fail to fully satisfy the desire of our inner being. Many great goals, accomplishments can only satisfy some but not all of the desires of the heart. What is an Oscar winner going to do at home alone on a Friday night? Talk to the Oscar? The trophy? God is an US=Father, Son, Holy Spirit. God is all about having relationships with us and our having relationships with other humans beings. God created us to live in community. This desire is expressed in Psalm 84. >>>> vs. 1-2 The desire for God’s place, His house and for God himself. Crying out for God, not caring what other people think. The Creator designed us for worship and relationship. God made us this way. The desire to know and be known. The desire to love and be loved. Church should be a place where you can come and let your hair down, be open and real. vs. 4-6 Blessed are those who dwell in your house and will still be praising you. Life is made of heartaches, pains and junk that only God knows we are going thru. God will bless the man who has his strength in God. Blessed is this man who is passing thru bad experiences. He gets refreshed and strengthened in the Lord. Our strength is in the Living God. Step by step we move forward in the strength of the Living God. The Valley of Baca is the Valley of tears. The valley of tears and weeping that we must go thru deepens our desire to know the living God. There is value in our pain and in our trials or difficulties. It gives us a chance for empathy and understanding of what others with the same problem are going through or have already gone through. The valley of weeping serves to strengthen us when at first we thought it would destroy us. We choose to rely on God anyway! vs. 10 A day in God’s court is better than a thousand. One day in God’s presence, with God’s people is better than a thousand days. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God-with no status, with no honor-than be in the tents of wickedness. Knowing God and worshipping Him is better than any other option. Period! The fool has said in in his heart that there is no God. This is a Lie! A Lie from Satan! Five Reasons to Serve God 1) God is Sun=the source of light and heat 2) God is Shield = He is a protector of his believers, his children. 3) God will give Grace = mercy, favor with God 4) God will give Glory = He will be with us and in us. 5) God will not withhold any good thing from those that walk uprightly. God will give us good things because He has made a huge investment in us thru the crucifixion of his son Jesus Christ. It is better to be a doorkeeper in the house of God that to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Blessed is the man that trusts in thee! AMEN
