  1. I've always heard the question, "If God loves everyone, why does he send people to hell?" And I know there's a long answer for this, but basically it's that he gives us a choice. He offers a deal that seems irrefutable to not only partake, but fully embrace in his infinite goodness. Yet some people refuse it, and so the only punishment is hell. He offered all of his love, but we've rejected it. The quote "Hell is getting what you want", seems to be the most fitting. But then I reached a dilemma. God is all knowing. Why does God create people he knows are going to go to hell? This makes it seem like he doesn't love these people. Is God's love just a different kind of love that I don't understand (Not trying to be sarcastic)?
  2. Hey people, I just want to take this time to say thank you so much for bearing with me and taking time to answer my questions. You didn't just give me quick answers, you gave me your all in answering. I can definitely see that. It's taking me some time to get used to spending time with the Lord again because I fell so far trying reevaluate my beliefs. If you could pray that God would continue to reveal himself to me and that I would become even more faithful, especially after this huge endeavor, towards Him. Again, thank you. Thank you thank you thank you.
  3. Young guy here. You're over thinking it. It's definitely not some sort of form of demonic worship. Maybe it's because of my age, but I think it's absolutely hilarious and I'm okay to admit that I've been in one of the hundreds of harlem shake videos that's actually associated with a college ministry. It's just fun internet stuff.
  4. I want to apologize. A few days ago my name was changed by the moderators/admin and I was unsure why. I was unaware that my previous username was actually an offensive term and I'm truly sorry if I have offended anyone because of it.
  5. +rep @OneLight That was a great read. Wow. Now, I'm still going to ask questions just because there are things that I'm curious about and some things don't make quite a lot of sense to me. So here comes my next question. The passage below implies that Israel will no longer have neighbors that are malicious, but to me, this seems untrue. It doesn't seem like Israel is getting along with much of anybody. No longer will the people of Israel have malicious neighbors who are painful briers and sharp thorns. Then they will know that I am the Sovereign LORD. This is what the Sovereign LORD says: When I gather the people of Israel from the nations where they have been scattered, I will show myself holy among them in the sight of the nations. Then they will live in their own land, which I gave to my servant Jacob. They will live there in safety and will build houses and plant vineyards; they will live in safety when I inflict punishment on all their neighbors who maligned them. Then they will know that I am the LORD their God. Ezekiel 28: 24-26
  6. This isn't really a question dealing with whether or not God is real or not like my past threads have been. I'm curious, though. Could someone explain to me the the Laws of Logic and how that can be used as proof for God's existence? Because apparently it can be used in that way. Yet, I just can't seem to wrap my head around this idea because the way that I've seen it explained is just so abstract and way over my head.
  7. Thanks for all of your responses in all of my threads. You've answered all of my questions. (I had dozens of others, but I found the answers to them elsewhere). I can't really think of anything else to ask. I want to specifically thank these two people: @other one and @shiloh357 for your posts in this thread. I think because of what you two posted, I'm approaching a breaking point in this quest for finding my faith again. @Butero: *Me at 16 years old* "Hmm. What's the most obscure username, that isn't offensive, that I can think of?" I use this username for a lot of different sites.
  8. This will give me a lot to think about it. Thanks for this. +rep
  9. Why do you say it is possible that God had no hand in the destruction of Jericho when the bible clearly says otherwise? What leads you to this conclusion? Is it a matter of understanding part of the scripture, or just an opinion? That's what I'm saying. Couldn't they have just taken the city by themselves without the help of God, but attributed it to him anyway and so that's why it says that the Lord helped them take the city?
  10. So far my questions have been answered very well. So thanks again. This might be an easier question, but we'll see. How do we know that God isn't just an invention of man to explain things we can't/couldn't understand? I'm convinced that the story of Jericho is true due to pretty overwhelming archeological evidence, but is it possible that the Israelites took over the city themselves without the help of God and that they were the ones that burnt the city and not God?
  11. Thanks for asking, actually. It has nothing to do with the people I hang out with. In fact, most people I do spend time with are believers. There was a certain event that happened around the labor day weekend that caused all of this questioning of my faith. I was almost in a really bad car wreck. If I hadn't reacted the right way, I would have been dead. No doubt about it. So I started really thinking about what had happened later that night, thinking about what if I had gotten hit, what if I had died. And when I started thinking about what if I had died, I started questioning where I would have gone even despite my faith and despite what the bible says about us having a secure place in heaven because of our faith. I kept thinking about this and then I started to have a lot of doubts. So that's when I started researching whether or not the God that exists is the Christian God/if there is a God.
  12. Before I answer your questions please tell me who is the Lord Jesus Christ to you? And.. Do you believe the bible to be the inspired Word of God? This is what I'm trying to figure out. I gave my life to Christ around a year ago, but I've been really struggling with my faith and trying to figure it out if what I believe is really true. It's hard for me to answer these questions because I'm in such a gray area right now. I want to say that Jesus is God. I want to say that the bible is the Word of God. But I've realized that my faith has more or less been blind faith. That's what I don't want. I want a faith where I am absolutely certain, without second guessing, that what I believe is true.
  13. So thanks to everyone who responded on my last topic. You definitely answered my questions. So now I want to talk about the Sumerian Tablets, which apparently pre-date the Bible and even share similar stories like the great flood and creation. So how do we know that the Sumerian Tablets aren't true and that maybe the stories in the Old Testament were just copied from these tablets?
