  1. There is also a well known greek historian named Josephus who did research on Jesus's life and if He was real. Josephus concluded that Jesus was in fact a real person and He had a huge impact in the people and government. Not only that, there are 24 thousand documents (outside of the Bible) all proving the existence of Jesus Christ. Throughout history, Jesus's teaching had a huge impact on various governments, churches, countries, that still happen now. One author I read had a big impact on myself "Foxes book of martyrs" The author decided to compile a book full of testimonies of all the martyrs who died for Jesus Christ and all the events leading to those deaths. If Jesus Christ was not real, then why would those people go willingly to their death, unless they truly believed that Jesus Christ were real and am alive. W
  2. Interpreting the bible literally, well What I tend to do is read the bible, interpret it as best as I can do and literally, unless I read a section that I cannot understand, then I pray asking God to help me understand it, and meet with other believers and discuss that subject, then I can better understand it. Having miracles happen just as it did during the disciples time, there is a scripture that Jesus said to believers, "the things I can do, you can do much more." So we believe in Jesus, Accept Jesus as our saviour, we have the holy spirit in us, thus, are we still able to do everything that Jesus did during His time on earth? Does that mean Jesus lied when He said that all believers can do everything that Jesus did? I do not think so. Jesus said that we all can do everything that Jesus did if we give Him all the glory and use HIs name in the prayers. W
  3. So what about the subject about faith healing, laying of hands, speaking in tongues, and different miracles, are they still in use now as it happened in the 12 disciples time? and how do we bring up this subject in church?
  4. Sometimes you'll need to stand up and say that You will not take what they are saying about you and if they cannot say nice, you will leave. Its called setting boundaries. You can still pray and continue being there for them but at the same time you will need to start drawing lines and say that they cannot cross it. I recommend that you read a book called "Boundaries" by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr John Townsend. It is a very helpful book in developing healthy relationship with everyone while at the same time protecting yourself from hurtful behaviour. Wrldtraveller.
  5. Thanks everyone. It truly saddens me to see that some people so rigid in their belief in preterism that they are blinded by the power of God. I know that the scriptures teaches us to always test what people say, or what theology are out there. What I've always cautioned my friends, is that they should always read the book that they are studying and compare it with the Bible. To ensure what is taught in the book matches with what is taught in the bible. If it contradicts with the bible, then it is incorrect, false, and not worth the time to waste. I believe that when people start being proud of their intellect, they forget that the intelligence that they have is a gift of God, and they should follow what the scripture says,"humble yourself, and God will bless you". It is by this scripture that I practice daily, but i feel despair when I see such erroneous doctorine going out there and yet I haven't seen anyone trying to disprove it. Again, thank you. 6. The question I face lately is the end time studies. I have read the bible back to back several times and I chose to believe in it based on Faith and belief that God is an supernatural being. He is able to do everything that happened in the bible. The most recent topic happened to me is the subject of Preterism (partial or full) and it was a new thing for me to know. So I researched it carefully and made comparison with the Bible. After a long time reading and poring different articles about preterism and various contradictions. I have come to the conclusion that Preterism is a false doctorine because it removes hope from humankind. The bible offers hope in everlasting life with Jesus after death. It offers hope in Jesus's gift of salvation. So back to my question, when we read the bible, do we read it in faith and accept that God is all-powerful, able to do what the scriptures says, or do we choose to follow what man expect us to do, read the bible as if its a historical document, and decide based on scientific/ chronological order to either believe or not believe in it. For me, I choose to believe in God and Jesus and their supernatural power. I choose to believe in the Hope that God gave us for the future. your feedback would be appreciated. wrldtraveller.
  7. Thanks everyone, I appreciate your answers. It can be a difficult situation to be in. I know that the Bible tells us to go into the world and be friendly to everyone, but do not become same as what they do. ( my own words but similar to what it says in the bible )
  8. I just saw a movie called Time Changers. It is an awesome movie. it makes you think and wonder just how much we have sort of whittled our christian lives to fit the world rather than increased our spiritual relationship with Jesus. I had a discussion with a friend who watched this movie with me. He said that people who dislike foul language are called old fashioned. So, it made me think and now I put this out to itch your minds and see whats other people's opinion about this. As a christian, we should strive to be christ-like and be set apart from the world. To be put bluntly, be the role model for others to look up to. The bible states that we should be the salt and the light of the world. So I am wondering, when in our christian lives are we beginning to be viewed as old fashioned? In my experience, I have noticed that as I strive to be closer to Christ, watch how I speak, be cautious when I use foul language, Others actually take more notice. One instance, I was truly angry at one person and swore at him. He immediately took me aside and had a meeting with me to find out whats wrong. What struck me was what he said. he said," everyone swears all the time, every single sentence has a swear. With them, I don't take it seriously. But with you, You never swear no matter what happens to you, so when you swear, its something serious." So I would appreciate your comments. And May God bless your days. Paul.
  9. well. The left behind novels are basically fiction writing based on the author's interpretation of Revelations in the bible. They tried to give a modern twist about the book of Revelations to give people an idea of what would happen during the tribulations. As to rapture, i believe that it s a future event and will happen. But then, every one is entitled to their own opinion. I choose to believe in hope in a better future, and choose to hope that I will be caught up in heaven before the world go through tribulation. Thats my two cents. Paul
  10. naturally, Jesus would be the first person I would like to meet. the rest, well I will have eternity to get to know each of the people mentioned in the bible. like someone posted in this who said "i would be tickled pink just being there" that is exactly what I would feel. the apostle paul said that its like running a race, we are running for the reward at the finish line which is in heaven. Paul
  11. wow. I admire her bravery. we should do more to stand up for our faith because our community is continually eroded and harassed. Funny thing about being in Canada and probably in USA, christianity are encouraged to be more welcoming to islamic religion, even there is a new form of church called chrislam where they merge christianity and islam. but in other countries which Islamic religion is the major religion, the christian church are forced to hide or suffer death or forced to escape from said country. Stay strong in Jesus Christ in this time of persecution worldwide.
