  1. I know a lot of saying that people accredit to God's Word or Biblical sayings have been tweeked a bit here and there and still said to be found in Scriptures. I think that is something taht we need to be careful of because even a small change here and there to a phrase can change the whole meaning of the sentence. For example, like firestormx said, it's the "love of money", not "money is the root of all evil". a few word changes here and there and people are attributing verses to a place they aren't originated from. The Bible is the best resource for these kind of things by far!
  2. There are a ton of Amish near the area I live in Pennsylvania. We've had them replace a roof on our house, we love their foods they make at Farmer's Market's and town stores, and when we play softball in their towns, kids come out of the corn fields in our outfield and steal the softballs we hit, then run back into the cornstalks. Overall, I do see an increase in their media-fame as of late. It's almost like each year a new culture is the reality winner and is protrayed on a show or in-depth in some way. Rednecks, Jersey-Italians, Hillbillies, British, etc. That's how shows like Duck Dynasty, Jersey Shore, Honey Boo-boo, and such get popular. I'm not grouping Duck Dynasty in with those other 2 shows in terms of quality! I actually think DD has some value to it very much unlike JS and Honey-Boo Boo.
  3. I've only ever fasted once in my life and it was as a middle-schooler our Youth Group did a 30-hour famine. It of course was new to me at the time but we were able to focus our time that weekend on God. Songs, missionaries, prayer requests, volunteer work to help the less fortunate. It was a great way to spend time devoting our resources to God and putting aside the thought of food fulfilling our bodies as we let Christ be the Bread of Life for us and fill us up with our hunger for Him.
  4. Bless your sense of humor Hall7 I think one thing that I find I want to better prepare myself for in life is having Scriptures etched in my mind and heart. I know when even seeking non-believers approach me and ask me questions about Christ and the Bible and anything related, I do feel a sense of hesitation to make sure I don't mess up my words with what God wants to speak through me to help reach this person. Even if I know what I believe and am saying is right, the last thing I want to do is confuse my words and hinder the work of the Lord. Ultimately I know he's in control and His will be done. I just pray by digging deeper into the Bible when I can strengthens my knowledge of Christ and can lead me to be a stonger vessel for witnessing.
  5. Reminds me of how Jesus used the Sword of the Spirit in the word to basically shut up and defeat Satan in the desert during his temptations during the 40 days of fasting. God conquers all.
  6. I'm hesitant about going to see it. Yeah I loved Passion of the Christ when it came out, but these kind of movies can be very tricky with the message and accuracy they are protraying to the whole world audience.
  7. I am guessing Adam and Eve had "Glorified Bodies" which is kinda like what we will have when we go to Heaven. We won't be very old, or very young, but almost like in an ideal state. Adam and Even were created before the 1st sin so their bodies, minds, and souls were still perfect up to the point of touching and eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. I of course can not say for sure, but that's my belief and best "guess".
  8. All sorts of reasons for me. Prayer request is of course a big one. When I'm in a jam, small or big, I love taking it to him first. He may not be the first to answer my problems, but it sure is easier knowing that I can freely express my concerns, worries, desires, etc to him and that he's always looking out for me. Simple chit-chat. I love just finding a few moments of quiet during the day and playing a quick "catch-up" conversation-wise with God. I know he already has my life planned out and blue-printed, but just to be able to talk with him one-on-one in a loving friendship kind of way. It takes stress off my mind and gets me back into the Christian-living mentality.
  9. My kids are going to get jigsaw puzzles, board games, and sports equipment. No video games, no explosives (haha), and no Worm Farms for them.
  10. I was a huge fan of The Worm as an NBA player, but his personality...not at all. Great player in his prime, heck his whole career on the defensive end and grabbing boards and intimidating players. His lifestlye though, pretty disappointing. One of those characters you're not sure will ever change for the better. The stunts with marrying himself, alcohol abuse (drugs too?), obscene language/gestures, even incidnets on the court like his camera man kicking moment. One of those players who tried to be different and stand out and it seems like it bit him in the butt. He's famous alright, in the Hall of Fame of course which is probably deserved from a basketball viewpoint, but his shenanigans make me shake my head.
  11. Thanks Kwik!! I've noticed when I was living in Georgia that there were so many slow drivers. Most of them had pretty beat up cars and were trying to deck them out, pimp them, and soup them up. I think they literally spent $300 on the car, and then like $7000 on the accessories and features. They'd go riding around slow as heck to draw attention to their car, which would then result in traffic backed up a light or so. I've seen some very interesting cars down there, some very interesting drivers, and definitely some interesting accidents. Most of the accidents I think occurred due to motorcyclists speeding by cars in non-passing lanes or on the brim.
  12. I've seen some pretty huge one's while I was in Boot Camp in San Antonio in the chow hall. Those suckers were mutant one's, not afraid of light at all! They were captivated by the moistness under the sinks where the pipes leaked. You could kick them across the room and they would come right back to your foot looking for a place to snuggle. I hate them, but not as bad as I hate centipedes... :/
  13. I agree very much with what The Patriot said. Bieber just gets too much publicity and needs to be ignored. Of course he's got his millions upon millions of fans in the world, but even those who can't stand him seem to give him attention which feeds fuel to the fire. I'm not sure what goes through these celebrities' minds sometimes, nor do I want to. haha I have a fear he'll be a hot comodity for the next 10 years at least, as sad as that is to say.
  14. The Lochness Monster is one thing I'm hesitant to believe or not. I want to, and I'd love to be there and see it in real life, in person, but I know the odds of it are worse than winning the Powerball lottery I bet. Nessie's getting old, so she might be having trouble getting up to the surface more often, or, she may have croaked... :/
  15. I believe God does have a sense of humor. I mean I wouldn't quite go as far as him pulling practical jokes, but when he see's something we do that's a head-smack moment that's kinda innocent, but minor, I think he can sit back and chuckle to himself at times. I know many times I've stated "God must have a sens of humor since He..." fill in the blank. I'm not going to try and tell Him knock knock jokes when we meet or when I pray, but I can imagine his love for us would also include his willingness to laugh at sometimes the craziness of our lives.
