  1. As he didn't bother when he had the chance and I needed him, it isn't likely to happen, is it?
  2. The Bible isn't evidence of anything at all, just a compilation of the works of different authors.
  3. Some people seem to delight in the idea of people burning in a lake of fire for ever and ever, which is pretty sick. It is not a credible scenario of course!
  4. I have read the Bible from cover to cover many times and still do. Each time I read that book it confirms my view that it was written by humans with no input from any deity. If it exists and is as portrayed in the Bible I had better in asbestos clothing as I am for the burning! The deity didn't bother to come through for me when I was a Christian as a child, so if it couldn't come through for me then, either it doesn't care, or much more likely doesn't exist!
  5. There is NO evidence the deity or an afterlife exists, or that it had anything to do with the production of the Bible, which seems a very human creation to me. But if you are happy with you very unpleasant belief system that is up to you.
  6. I cannot see anything remotely loving about the Biblical version of the deity!
  7. What sort of crazy deity would consign people to burn in the fires of hell for mere unbelief? Unbelief is quite reasonable as there isn't the slightest shred of evidence to prove it exists. Surely a decent loving deity who wanted a relationship with humans would make its presence clear to all in a verifiable way, and not a matter of mere faith.
  8. I have faith in myself. I am far from perfect, but good enough, I hope, I certainly have no wish to be a saint! As to how the universe came about, I very much doubt any deity did the business. The creation story in the Bible isn't credible, imo. I reckon science will explain all eventually
  9. I am quite content to hope that when I die I cease to be, I have no interest in an afterlife.
  10. I have asked this question on other forums and have been astonished that quite a number of 'born agains' would turn into criminals without the fear of hell to deter them!
  11. I reckon if Christianity is practiced in 2000 years time some will still be expecting Jesus to return. I don't think anyone should hold their breath, as his return has been expected since he died and is highly unlikely ever to happen. I think it very sad that people keep looking for his return, instead of living the life they have to the full and trying to enjoy it.
  12. If it is only the fear of hell which keeps people them on the straight and narrow, it extremely sad, that some people have to be frightened into being decent, honest human beings!
  13. In the unlikely event it could be proved beyond all shadow of doubt no deity or afterlife exists, how would it change your life?
  14. I believe I am in charge of my own life, when I make mistakes it is for me to put them right. I don't owe any allegiance to any deity as I don't believe any exits.
