  1. Who are your favourite recent heroes/heroines outside of the bible, particularly born in recent times and why? I will begin again. Mine is Samuel Morris and DL Moody. Samuel Morris is an African man who prays and even though he does not live long, he is a model for me in the area of childlike prayers. DL Moody reaches the lost for God with a passion and he is not very educated. I also like Billy Graham, Smith Wigglesworth, Catherine Booth. Too often, we honor the saints of the bibles without recognizing that there are modern heroes/heroines in our midst too. Let's talk about them here!
  2. Mother Mary is actually a good role model for all mothers. Why? Because she is not perfect. Most knows her to be entirely submissive to God. But do you know that she actually left Jesus behind at the temple and travelled on a day before realizing He was missing. Such negligence from a mother towards a son. Yet, she is said to be the most blessed of woman. Any woman who aspires to be mother of great heroes and heroines of God can rest assured that she don't have to be perfect before God can use her. Mary is not perfect. She neglects Jesus at one point in her life. Still, God regarded her as a wonderful mother who He entrusts with His Son.
  3. I have a question. There are so many, so many verses in the bible. How do you actually select which verses you are going to memorize?
  4. Just to clarify, while it is my desire to memorize whole bible, now I struggle with just a few verses. Also, how to know which verbs to memorize? Any website with a yearly memorization plan?
  5. I like his story. It inspires me greatly to care for the persecuted.
  6. The whole bible. I hope to memorize the whole bible.
  7. I was thinking about the types of temptations Jesus went through during His times on earth. If you are tempted in your walk with God often, think about Jesus. Satan knew He is the Son of God. How Satan will literally get as many demons with him as possible to tempt Jesus. Most of us are tempted by some low ranking demons and already, we fell into sins. Jesus is literally followed around every moment of His life by Satan. After all, why will Satan be elsewhere when he can follow the Son of God and looks for opportunity to cause Him to turn away from God? Satan will also surely look for every opportunity to tempt Jesus to sin. Still, Jesus is without sin. Oh, how great is our sinless God!
  8. Besides John 3:16, I never seems to be able to memorize the bible in a permanent way. Yes, I can memorize it for 1 day, 2 days, even a week, but after one year, I will probably forget about it. The only verse I can quote to this day without referring to the bible is John 3:16 only. How to solve that problem? What can I do to remember the scripture long term instead of short term? I am using the NIV 1984. I like this version rather than the new version of NIV which I feel changes God's Word to be more gender-inclusive. I don't like that. I try reading the KJV, cannot understand the older day english. Try ESV, and it is too difficult for me as well. I like the NIV 1984 best but it is not in production these days. I don't know where to get a new NIV 1984 after my bible wears out. Therefore, I am hoping to commit the NIV 1984 bible to my memory. What are some tips you can give me to memorize the bible?
  9. Every day, many christians from around the world are persecuted for their faiths because they believe in Jesus. They are imprisoned, tortured and killed, and their wives and children are left to fend for themselves. As Christians, we are called to love one another as Christ has loved us! Indifference or not being aware of our suffering brothers and sisters in Christ's plights are no excuses for our sins of not helping the persecuted church of God! Not long ago, I downloaded logos software and told God I wanted to go deep into His Word and study various commentaries of the bible. I wanted to purchase some of the commentaries at logos bible software because of that. However, I felt a prompting by the Holy Spirit to give my money to [link removed] an organization which helps the persecuted church instead. I really struggle with this decision as I desire to be knowledgeable about God. But the Holy Spirit reminded me that many christians in the persecuted countries do not even have a bible of their own. Why am I seeking so many extra christian resources for myself while christians elsewhere do not even have the very basic--the Holy Bible. After some struggles, I give in to the Holy Spirit. I also feel convicted to encourage other believers in Christ to spare a thought for the persecuted church, and contribute in whatever ways they can, whether financially or through prayers. We are a body of Christ. Let us remember our suffering brothers and sisters.
  10. Who is your favourite bible hero or heroine besides Jesus? Why is he or she a favourite? I will begin. Mine is Jacob. I like him because like me, he is a sinner, a deceiver, a liar and there is hardly anything good about him besides the fact that he hungers for God's blessings to be in his life. Yet, at the end of his life, he died in worship of God. He started up bad, and tried to get God's blessings, but ended up just worshipping God, even in his death. I want to be someone like that. I can never be a Abraham because I am weak in my faith, or a David because I am too cowardly to trust God to slay a Goliath or a Moses or a Elijah or a Paul. But I am definitely a Jacob, in that I seek after God's blessings, despite being a sinner and hopefully, at the end of my life, died in worship of God like him. So he is my hero even though I am a gal. What about yours?
  11. What bible softwares are you using and why do you recommend them?
  12. It is sad that today, parents don't pray for their children, or look into the spiritual welfare of their children. That is why witchcraft is popular among the youths of today!
  13. I believe many of the mental illness today, are really demon-based in nature. Still, there might be some cases when the sickness is truly mental. It all depends on discernment, I guess.
  14. https://www.4shared.com/minifolder/udLq9fwE/_online.html?woHeader=1&onSimpleViewPage=1 You can find many joseph prince sermons in the website above. Just thought I will share.
  15. Mary makes mistakes, too, as a mother. For instance, on one occasion, she travels ahead without the child Jesus. What mother will be so careless to lose her child like that? Yet, God sees Mary as the most worthy of woman. And therefore, she is a good mother in His eyes.
