Reflect on the things that made you feel close to Him. Do those things and pray for his presence. I sometimes feel the same way. I usually listen to some of my favorite songs and pray fervently.

As long as you learned from it (which it seems you have) then it can be counted as a positive. If nothing else, it was an experience that brought you back to God and showed you the danger of being disconnected. Romans 8:28.

Proverbs 22:6. She is still young so I believe her mind could change. I would ask her about what type of future she would like to have (i.e. kids, wedding day) and see if she's really thought it out. If she does eventually want kids, I'd explain to her that she' be denying her kids of everything her father has done for her. I think you've done a great job of being understanding. Keep praying and hope that her heart changes.

I've been married for 5 years and my wife made contact with me 1st. While I do think that a man should generally show interest in the woman he wants, I also think that a little encouragement in that area can be helpful. There is some value in the "antiquated" ways your mom would want you to pursue. Don't go overboard. Maybe ask him if he'd be interested in talking on the phone/text/email etc. Then you can see where it goes from there. Always be prayerful about it, but I don't see any harm in planting a little seed to see if it grows. Good luck.
