My mother is on home hospice, dementia, severe arthritis, cardiac issues. She is quite elderly. There is a dnr in place for her, and one for my father as well. Taped to the pantry door where paramedics can see it readily. It hurts to see it. I dont want my parents to go. But I understand their wishes. They do not want heroic measures. Chances are I will have to make any decisions regarding my father, or mother if dad is not around. I am preparing mentally to cope with this, and to cope with worsening of moms dementia. If she gets to the point of not recognizing us. For me? They used to ask me if I wanted a dnr when I had cancer and was undergoing treatment. I did not get one. I dont know if I will ever get one. I figure by the time I get to that point, the govt will mandate euthanasia for old folks. The Christian view? I guess it is a bit like suicide. Kinda strengthens my view against it.

Before I became a Christian, when I was in pharmacy school, I was asked by a fellow student if I wanted to be in a drug trial for a new type of migraine treatment. At the time, I suffered around 4 migraines a month. I looked in to the drug trial and opted not to do it. I tend to get bad side effects from medications. Turns out the medication was imitrex. I see nothing about doing a medication trial, with or without being paid for it, that would be against a Christian way of living.

What part of your nation's law says execute family members as well as the perpetrators?

In the gospels Jesus spoke of someone whose debt was forgiven but who then refused to forgive the debts owed him. Jesus condemned that action. That is what you are doing. Refusing to forgive and instead demanding the innocent lives of families be cut down.

But you speak of killing not only those who committed crimes but also their families. How would that make you any better than those you speak against?

Today i helped dad set up home hospice care for mom. Then while packing to drive my husband 2 hrs away for his job the next couple of days.. i also was on the phone with my brother listening to the doc explain the results of his biopsy and yes its cancer. Kinda think all of this is important.

His timing not ours. It is not delayed. We are just impatient.

I used to go to mexico a lot. Border cities, deep interior, didnt matter. I loved going there. I learned a long time ago that mexico is lawless. The cartels rule there. Cops military and govt officials are given a choice: be with the cartels or die. The press here does not mention it much but many americans disappear in mexico, only to be found later, if found at all, dead. It is one of the most dangerous places in the world now with a murder rate second to syria. People are foolish to travel there, even for cut rate medical care. Which as a medical professional I also think is a bad idea. Medical standards there are not so good.

I heard about a church that canceled its services in order to hold a business meeting to tell its congregation that the church is a product and the congregation is the customer. I hear a lot about the seeker sensitive church, one which tries to get folks in, by toning down the hard parts of the gospel message. The house of worship, the church building, is being turned into a modern day marketplace. Where attendance is tallied and numbers mean more than quality of the service and teaching. A place where sermons are spiced up and worship has gimmicks to bring in more people. Church is entertaining. The music makes us feel good. The sermon talks about the purpose driven life. Where is God in all of this? In the name of growth, have our churches faltered and turned into the marketplaces of the temple in the time of our Lord Jesus? If Jesus were in your church, would He see a house of prayer, a temple of worship? Or would He see a place where the focus is marketing the church to people? Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22: 35-40 Jesus tells us to love the Lord first, with our heart, soul, and mind. Is your church God focused or people focused?

It seems like you are expecting God to take this away while you continue to cave in to the flesh. Have you talked to your pastor? Perhaps you should find a Christian counselor or a rehab place to help you.

In the days prior to 9/11, I was distraught in an emotional upheavel. My husband was hours away spending a final week with his dying mother. On that day I was alone, shocked, scared. I grew up in new york. Did I know anyone in the twin towers? To this day I still havent had the ability to check the lists of the dead. A friend of my brothers was in the pentagon when the plane hit. I was full of rage and grief like many americans. I prayed. I wanted to pray for the destruction of terrorists. Yeah that didnt work. I was told in clear terms DO NOT PRAY FOR THEIR DESTRUCTION. The Lord changed my prayers in mid prayer. Pray for the salvation of muslims and pray they cease terrorist attacks. That was all I was allowed to do. Lesson learned.
