  1. Thank you both for posting here. I am so relieved not everyone believes the hate filled rhetoric that Hall and Maples generate with regularity on the Net. Thank GOD for discerning Christians who can see the Devil has his own disciples at work in the world of God too. And the good news is, Satan knows his fate is sealed. News to his disciples I expect. Thank you both again. Really. I have friends who are Orthodox Christians. Some of the finest people I know.
  2. It took me awhile to read just what you added to this thread. Thank you so much for your commitment to this thread and the truth about the motive behind the predators that are the likes of JD Hall and his associate Maples. Wow! I wish I could give you gobs of kudos instead of one per post.
  3. I think if you read the history of Hall and Maples you'll see they are dedicated to persecution of the church. What pastor harasses a Baptist minister and his son to the point the son takes the life God gave him just to escape it? And after that horrible loss due to a grown man's actions against a boy, the man fakes an apology to a Christian publication so as to save his bread and butter, and they continues to target Christians of choice exactly as venomously as before. That sounds like the tactic of ISIS. Not the heart of that man that is indwelt by God's holy spirit. Pastors are suppose to lead the flock. Not use a cleaver and attack the flock, proudly mount their wool on his desk, and go after more fleece. That's what Hall and Maples are doing. Without apology to Hank Hanegraaff. They want to destroy him the way they have others. To the point their targeted one takes their own life even. That's ISIS behavior. Targeting Christians because they are Christians ISIS thinks deserve to be assaulted. And ISIS believes in Jesus! Just not the way that Christians do. That too is like unto the behavior of Hall and Maples. They believe in Jesus, they just believe they have the right to invoke his name and name call Christians. Or, cast aspersions in their total ignorance, cultivate hate toward, the Orthodox Christians. Hall and Maples published a fake call for sympathy for the Egyptian Orthodox Christians slaughtered by ISIS in on Palm Sunday in two different churches that were attacked. And then had the twisted heart behind that fake call for sympathy to say, those who were slaughtered WERE NOT CHRISTIANS! That's where Hall and Maples diverge from ISIS. Even ISIS knew the Coptic Orthodox they targeted for death, martyrdom, were Christians. It's pretty bad when a terrorist entity knows more about Orthodox Christians than Hall and Maples.
  4. Very astute. Thank you for posting here and seeing the truth. JD Hall and his associate Jeff Maples, that could be a pseudonym JD Hall uses, do not edify Christ. JD Hall if you look on the Net has a horrible reputation for bullying and cleaving Christians apart with his obsessive attacks. Orthodox Christianity appears to be his latest fixation. The tragedy is the young life that cut itself short for the assault JD Hall waged against the young man who committed suicide due to the predatory nature of Hall who focused his attack on the boy and his father. A Baptist minister. Did you read that in the links above? I never imagined such a thing from a self-proclaimed pastor. Attacking a Baptist family so that the child of that family kills himself. And then making an act of contrition to a Christian publication realizing the consequences of those attacks on that grieving family that would befall Hall's ministry. Personal security, monetary insurance, the impetus. Not true sorrow and repentance for such terrible behavior. And Hall later would return to the same behavior and against a husband and wife. Also in the articles here in this thread. I was shocked that Hall was that far gone. I thought Hank Hanegraaff was his Christian of choice. Hall and Maples attack on Hank Hanegraaff isn't the first attack waged on a true servant of God. Hall and Maples have gone after Pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California. After the attack on the Baptist minister to the point his child kills himself , why would a man of God pursue anyone else with such venom? There are many that he's targeted. Search it out. I think that is what makes the effort Hall is now making against Christian Orthodox so transparent and easily identified as work of God's enemy. Indwelt by the Holy Spirit harasses a Christian Baptist boy till he takes the life God gave him? And doesn't stop there even after pretending to grieve the son's loss and repent to the Christianity Today publication? Hall isn't an Apologist. Nor is Maples. Though I believe they do owe Christ a deep apology for taking his name in vain. Recently to sustain the assault Hall and Maples and their associates have formed against Orthodox Christianity the work, and also personal attack ministry of Dr. Paul Elliot was introduced in a different thread. One that also calls out the inappropriateness of Hall. I've known of Elliot for years. Paul M. Elliott is such a divisive spirit that he joined with others and formed their own doctrinal denomination. The Evangelical Reformed Presbyterian Church, or ERPC. Why would they align to do this? Paul Elliott and his comrades opposed the teaching of justification by faith! Wherein works were an example of being in the faith and indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Recall the teachings of James in scripture who tells us faith without works is dead? We can have all the faith in the world, but if we don't act in the spirit of Christ what good is our faith? If we're not charitable of heart, giving to the needy, Christ like as it were. Elliot and his ultra-right conservatives that formed their own denominational doctrine were also opposed to the doctrine of water baptism as an instrument of salvation. Remember the teachings of Jesus? One must be born of the spirit and water in order to enter the Kingdom? He and his comrades opposed these teachings because they were part of denominations such as the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) and the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Is it a wonder Elliot's writings are now being used to further the campaign against Orthodox Christians on the net? And Like Hall and Maples, Elliot goes after Christians and pastors and attacks their righteous commitment to faith. When Elliot's own denominational doctrine he helped form has its genesis in all that is opposed to Christ's teachings. It is a tragedy that there are those who think they are in Christ when they believe the leading of persons such as that. What is worse is when those who know better still promote the division just those three men, Hall, Maples, Elliot, seek to install into the worlds true Christians.
  5. Please thank you. Do merge my other thread about what Hall fails to understand about divine liturgy. That way the full expose of J.D. Hall, who harassed a young man, a Baptist pastor, Eargun Caner's son. To the point the poor boy took his own life, can be realized by those who have been beset by his articles condemning the first church after that of Jesus Christ and founded by the Apostle John-Mark can be exposed for what it is. More of the same targeted harassment of a Christian of Hall's choice. Like unto that young man who killed himself to escape the onslaught. Like what hopes to do the same to Hank Hanegraaff it appears. And by relation, allegedly, Jesus' own Apostles founded church and its contemporary membership world wide. Thank you again. Christianity Today Suicide of Pastor's Kid Prompts (Some) Soul-Searching Among Ergun Caner Critics (UPDATED) After death of 15-year-old Braxton Caner, the online Christian watchdog world assesses whether one of its own went too far. But! See below. That act of contrition didn't last at all. PREDATORS, DANGEROUS DEVIANTS & J.D. HALL.......Now you might remember the name J.D. Hall. He is a Montana-based pastor, author and founder of the Pulpit & Pen blog. But he is perhaps best known for his online harassment of former Brewton-Parker College president Ergun Caner’s teenaged son Braxton, who tragically ended up committing suicide last year. According to The Christian Post, Pastor Hall “confessed to his congregation at Fellowship Baptist Church that he was ‘crushed” by Braxton’s death.” Pastor Hall, who’d become notorious in many Christian circles for his aggressive online battles in the name of “defending truth,” told his church at the time: “The irony is that about three weeks ago I made known to you, my flock, that I was walking away from these conflicts. … In one sense, I am reaping what I sowed. When you live by the sword, you die by it … Knowing now that this young man struggled with that level of despair, I am even more sorry that my interaction with him was adversarial rather than pastoral.” At the time he said this, I thought Pastor Hall’s response to the tragedy was wholly appropriate and right. How impressive, I thought, that he could humble himself like that, admit how wrong his behavior was and vow never to become adversarial in an online context ever again. Good for him! Well, that was then. Because as soon as Pastor Hall saw my husband deny on Twitter that he was literally a “rapist at heart,” he swooped in for the kill. He tweeted to my husband: “Yeah, are you sure? Our view of depravity calls baloney on that.” When I retweeted my husband’s response, Pastor Hall further mocked me for retweeting my husband’s denial, telling us, “You know what’s funny? Your wife RT’d that like she believed you.” SARAH EEKHOFF ZYLSTRA [ POSTED 8/7/2014 01:28PM ]
  6. A response to the hit piece on Hank Hanegraaf’s Greek Orthodox temple April 19, 2017 Christ is risen! Dear Mr Maples, I have read your piece describing your attempt to ‘confront’ Hank Hanegraaf at a Pascha service at his new Greek Orthodox Church in light of you thinking that he has left the Christian faith. I have read some responses to you about this, especially the ones by James Deagle, Rod Dreher, Orthodoxidation, and Craig Tugilia. The above writers take your propositions about the Orthodox Church quite seriously; unfortunately, I do not share their seriousness because I am not convinced that you are at all a serious writer. This is because in reading your piece, I found it adorable how much you go out of your way to protest all the various trappings of the Byzantine liturgy, forcing yourself to dislike that to which you are secretly and mysteriously drawn. This is of course my projection into your psyche, and unlike Deagle above, I am not above tit for tat. Even for a Protestant, you do protest a bit much. When you decide to be received by chrismation into the Holy Orthodox Church (or perhaps, since you have ‘sat through Catholic masses,’ you might join me in being part of a Greek Catholic Church if you wish to be in communion with the Bishop of Rome), please feel free to write me. Barring the event that you are unable to produce a valid baptismal certificate, your baptism would most likely be valid. Especially if you can sing, you should consider converting; we are not above taking you in only for your evangelical voice – no longer on the blogosphere, we would hope, but mystically representing the seraphim in the Divine Liturgy. Christ is risen! Justin Tse Eastern Catholic Person ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Rise and Fall of J.D. Hall Uncategorized Add comments Aug062014 I’d never heard of J.D. Hall until a couple of years ago. He crossed my radar with the publication of a book called ” Help! Arminians Are Giving Me Nightmares Again”. I’m a Calvinist, but I don’t believe such hyperbole is helpful in theological discussions. The hyperbole got Hall a lot of attention and a lot of new friends who were more famous than he was. He was in the club now. That club was the ‘elite” of the Reformed Baptists and Calvinistic non denoms. http://michaelnewnham.com/?p=18866
  7. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 Response to Pen & Pulpit on Orthodoxy Image Credit: Ancient Faith At this point, it is no secret that former evangelical juggernaut, Hank Hanegraaff, has converted to the Orthodox Faith through the Greek Orthodox tradition. Over the last week, the evangelical and Orthodox communities have discussed the "good" and the "bad" behind the conversion, but the intent of this post is not to discuss those stories that have already received so much attention. Rather, the intent of this post is to respond to a recent article posted by the Protestant blog, "Pulpit & Pen," who have used the platform of Hank Hanegraaff's conversion to boost their own notoriety. In this case, however, not all press is good press, as there has been a strong backlash from Orthodox and Evangelical believers alike. Jeff Maples, the author of the recent articles discussing Hanegraaff and the Orthodox Church, has made some strong accusations against Orthodox Christians all over the world. Without beating this subject to the floor even further, the Reader's Digest version of Maples' claims is that Orthodox Christians are not Christians, but rather apostates. Even further, in an even more outrageously despicable assertion, Pulpit & Pen has strongly asserted that those Coptics recently martyred for their faith are not Christians. In the most recent article by P&P, Maples tells of his recent experience at Hanegraaff's parish. On Holy Saturday, this year (2017), Maples and gang visited St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church in Charlotte, NC, for what appears to be Rush service, Paschal Matins, and Paschal Liturgy. He outlined 9 total issues which apparently stood out to him and which he took great issue with. Of course, these issues are largely exaggerated and overly-caricaturized. At the heart of the article, though, sheer ignorance is demonstrated by Maples in that he set out to "experience" a Liturgy for the sake of proving his adversaries wrong and to bolster his own claims against the Orthodox Church. Because of all of the alleged complaints that he's received with accusations of "misrepresentation" towards the Orthodox Church, he felt that attending a Liturgy would build his credibility in his presentation of the Orthodox Church. Let's take a look at Maples' issues (his comments in orange): 1.) I have sat through many Catholic masses. I was married in a Catholic church, and I can definitely say I’ve “been there done that.” But I’ve never sat through anything so long and tedious as the Greek Orthodox mass. Perhaps being a special Saturday night “resurrection service,” this wasn’t the norm, but it was excruciatingly long. 2 1/2 hours in and no sign of slowing down. 1.) Orthodox services are long. Special festal services are long. The length of one's worship, however, should not be limited or governed by one's willingness to participate. The Kingdom of God deserves all of our attention, devotion, and time, and if a 2 1/2 hour commitment is just too much for an individual, maybe check out one of those billboard evangelical churches that promise short services in addition to the circus acts that permeate throughout. Additionally, it should be mentioned, that Maples attended multiple services in one sitting (Rush, Paschal Matins & Liturgy). This was not merely a "resurrection service"; this was the Feast of feasts and the greatest Liturgy of the year for the Church. The service doesn't slow down; the Orthodox don't slow down. And we certainly don't take shortcuts. On a final note, Maples also mentioned that the service was "tedious." The only "tedious" thing about the service--at least that I can imagine--is the level of each individuals participation in the Liturgy; we participate in the Church corporately. 2.) The cliché, “bells and smells” is actually a true reality. The burning of incense and ringing of bells was a noxious combination. It reminded me of being in a college dorm smoking weed and blowing the smoke through toilet paper rolls stuffed with dryer sheets. 2.) The "bells and smells" cliché rings true. It's a reality because we meet to celebrate and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, who came into the world to save sinners, of whom we are chief. Incense and bells are just two individual pieces [of many] that help us to utilize all of our senses holistically to more strongly worship the Living God. What struck me as odd, though, is not so much what Maples was reminded of, but more so that he was reminded of what seemed to be his own past which involved "smoking weed and blowing the smoke through toilet paper rolls stuffed with dryer sheets" inside of his dorm. Like, who does that? 3.) The liturgy was vain and repetitious. Literally, the same ritualistic prayers and chanting were sung over and over. Every prayer included an invocation of Mary and the Saints. 3.) Here, we arrive at some heart issues and some bearing false witness issues. The Orthodox Liturgy is somewhat repetitive [during the Paschal services]: we worship corporately, sing and chant hymns and songs (mainly that Christ is risen), venerate the saints, and worship the Almighty God of the universe. Other than that and the Litanies, there is hardly anymore repetition. I hope Maples will forgive me for stating this, but to make the claim that our Liturgy is "Literally, the same... over and over" is an outright lie. And this lie is followed by another lie. The majority of our prayers, contrary to popular caricaturization, do not actually invoke Mary or the Saints. To close on this point, calling the Liturgy "vain" appears to be a heart issue. The Liturgy is only vain to an individual who finds no meaning in what is being delivered to the congregation. I, for one, have always been moved by the Liturgy in its entirety, so vanity, in this case, appears to be a subjective [and unfair] charge leveled against the Orthodox, that actually seeks to examine each individual's heart without any basis in doing so. One could easily argue that the hymns (or rock music) that Maples "worships" to at his "church" are vain. They mean different things to different people. 4.) While there was actually quite a bit of Scripture reading, there was absolutely no teaching. In fact, the vast majority of Scripture reading was sung in the eerie Byzantine chant. You’d really have to pay attention and try to listen really hard to even understand what they were reading or reciting. 4.) The Orthodox Church reads a lot of Scripture corporately. A lot. And why wouldn't we? The Orthodox gave and preserved the Scripture! And there is some strong teaching in the Church. In fact, the Orthodox Liturgy is comprised of more theology than one would receive at any other tradition in the world. Our hymns and chants are steeped in theology--sweet, sweet Trinitarian and Christological theology. And our Byzantine chants are not "eerie." That would be like me saying Reformed hymns (err, is Maples even confessionally Reformed?) are monotonous and sound like they're being sung by the frozen chos... nah, I won't go there. Again, this is subjective, and it's different for everyone, obviously based on preference. Maples probably didn't hear a homily/sermon during the Paschal Liturgy because St. John Chrysostom's beautiful sermon was read aloud. There are theological powerhouse Priests who employ fantastic teaching during their homilies, and there are those who are not the most eloquent speakers when it comes to theology, but again, this is not exclusively an Orthodox issue, as this problem exists in every single tradition around the world. Let's not set double standards. On a final note, the Orthodox understand what's being sung, chanted, and read. Why? Because we participate in it and have learned it, or eventually will. And if someone can't understand what's being said, maybe try picking up the Bible or Liturgy booklets that each parish provides. Just an idea... but that would take too much effort, right? 5.) The facility was adorned, literally, wall to wall, floor to ceiling in graven images of the saints. The images were painted in such a way that the expressions on their faces were devoid of any emotion. They looked like lifeless figures just floating around in space. 5.) Ah, yeah! The beauty of our icons. The Saints bear witness to the Church and participate in the Divine Liturgy mystically, when Church Militant and Church Triumphant gather to partake of the Holy Eucharist. But why is it that our flat painted icons are considered "graven images of the saints," but the literally graven/carved Reformation wall, which features "saint John Calvin," is not considered a "graven image?" And of course our icons are devoid of emotion; the Orthodox Church has reasons for this. Would Maples have liked it more if they were smiling or frowning? Oh, and they're not just "floating around in space." Maples said they were "wall to wall," remember? 6.) The enthusiasm of the clergy and participants in the service was extremely low. Those participating in the rituals walked around with lifeless expressions on their faces. The entire ritual was empty and dead. 6.) One can easily make this argument about Calvinists, Methodists, Anglicans, Lutherans, Catholics, Wesleyans, Particular Baptists, you name it. This charge is "literally" just grasping at straws. It is writing something down just for the sake of writing something down. At the very root of it, it is a heart issue, and it is impossible for Maples to know the extent of the clergy and participant's hearts in their worship of God and their participation in the Liturgy. The "lifeless expressions" charge is also pretty funny. What did ya expect, Maples? Wide-eyed smiles? A motivational speaker? 7.) There is obviously little to no pursuit of holiness in this church. Several times during the service, the ushers and deacons could be seen stepping out to take smoke breaks. Many of the women and even some of the younger girls were dressed less than modestly. 7.) Again, heart issue. How can one judge what the "pursuit of holiness" looks like in a 2 1/2 hour timeframe, much of which is done in pitch black? I can't speak to ushers and deacons stepping out to take smoke breaks, but I seriously doubt the veracity of this claim, especially as it pertains to Deacons, as they are generally not permitted to leave the altar during Liturgy. And as far as women's dress, it really makes me wonder what the intent of Maples visit was, aside from him and his gang wanting to "confront Hanegraaff," as he states earlier in his article, which is a whole other ridiculous venture. Orthodox women tend to be some of the most modest of women worldwide, especially in their dress (head coverings and dresses, anyone?). 8.) Repeatedly, the chanting and liturgy included a summons to God to perform certain acts. It was clear that they believe that God works through and is dependent upon these rituals to activate the work of the Holy Spirit. 8.) Huh? Perform certain acts? Like 1) save His people, 2) bless His inheritance, 3) forgive our sins, 4) grant us peace and safety, 5) make the schisms cease, 6) grant us life eternal, 7) be glorified, etc.? Oh, Maples probably was referring to prayer here. Yea, dude. We pray and send our petitions--a lot. 9.) The Greek and Eastern Orthodox church is clearly a lifeless church. There was absolutely no gospel in this service. A lost person could not walk into this church and walk out a changed man. It was literally a Pagan practice. Like a seance. Pure witchcraft was going on in this place. In this religion, salvation doesn’t come through Christ’s imputed righteousness and substitutionary atonement on the cross, it comes through these dead rituals that they believe ontologically changes them into divine beings. It was truly one of the most wicked experiences I’ve ever seen. 9.) The Orthodox Church is the Life-Giving Church. It is the clearest and truest expression of the Faith, delivered once and for all to the saints. The Gospel is presented more times in one sitting than it is in months at the most conservative of Protestant churches. It has preserved the clear teaching of Christ and the Apostles since the first century, and continues to do so. In Orthodoxy, salvation comes through Christ. And through Christ, the Sacraments were instituted as a means of grace--as Life-Giving-and-Preserving instruments in which God extends to His people. It is truly the most glorious experience in the universe--where Heaven and Earth meet. And to Maples claim about paganism? Were there human sacrifices? Blood rituals? Druids and Shamans with masks? I'll let Prince Vladimir, a former pagan from the 10th century, respond: "When we journeyed among the Bulgars, we beheld how they worship in their temple, called a mosque, while they stand ungirt. The Bulgarian bows, sits down, looks hither and thither like one possessed, and there is no happiness among them, but instead only sorrow and a dreadful stench. Their religion is not good. Then we went among the Germans, and saw them performing many ceremonies in their temples; but we beheld no glory there. Then we went on to Greece, and the Greeks led us to the edifices where they worship their God, and we knew not whether we were in heaven or on earth. For on earth there is no such splendour or such beauty, and we are at a loss how to describe it. We know only that God dwells there among men, and their service is fairer than the ceremonies of other nations. For we cannot forget that beauty. Every man, after tasting something sweet, is afterward unwilling to accept that which is bitter; so we cannot remain any more in paganism.” It is very disheartening to witness a professing Christian lie so boldly and openly over a public forum which is viewed by many. No charity was employed and no benefit of doubt was given towards Orthodox Christians. Maples is a man set out on a mission not to disprove Orthodoxy--his arguments are too weak for that--but rather, to misrepresent the Orthodox Church and Orthodox Christians through a series of bold lies and baseless accusations off one short visit to one specific parish. The reality is that the Orthodox Church has withstood the test of time, and it will always continue to do so, even in the face of false witness. The best way to engage any given subject is by being intellectually honest, and part of that requires refraining from employing your own set of presuppositions to judge an ideology (in this case, a Tradition). The only way to test Maples' claims is to visit a local Orthodox parish yourself or to speak to a few of the hundreds of millions of Orthodox Christians in our midst and asking sincere questions. Come, taste and see that the Lord is Good. Source:http://www.orthodoxidation.com/2017/04/response-to-pen-pulpit-on-orthodoxy.html
  8. Fundamentalist Embarrasses Self By ROD DREHER • April 19, 2017, 3:26 PM I discovered the fundamentalist Christian website Pulpit & Pen a year or two ago, when they were hating on Karen Swallow Prior for failing to meet its high standards. They are an excitable lot, the P&P writers. One of them who participated in the attack on KSP later repented, and resigned from P&P, saying: He later added: If you take from these statements the idea that P&P writers shoot their mouths off maliciously without knowing what they’re talking about, you’d be correct. Today, the website turns its Eye of Sauron on Orthodox Christianity, which it describes as a “cult.” Jeff Maples of the site went to Hank Hanegraaf’s new Greek Orthodox parish looking for abomination. Lo and behold, he found a-plenty. Excerpts: Continues here=https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/fundamentalist-pulpit-pen-orthodoxy/
  9. Why Jeff Maples Fails to Understand Divine Liturgy In the Defense of Ritual In my last post, I responded to Jeff Maples’ many slanders against the Eastern Orthodox faith. In that time, Maples has made a couple more posts. For his latest post, he decided to make a trip down to Charlotte, NC and visit Hank Hanegraaff’s new church. Reporting on his trip, he’s had a lot of choice words for the Orthodox Divine Liturgy. Here, I’ll just give some brief responses. His first criticism is, 1.) I have sat through many Catholic masses. That’s right, his first criticism essentially boils down to ‘can you believe they spend 2 1/2 hours praising and adoring God?’. He is correct though, a liturgy lasting that long is not the norm. However, given that it was a Passover service, celebrating the resurrection of the Lord our God Jesus Christ, why wouldn’t you want to devote more time to remembering such an event? I mean it’s only the day which marked the salvation of man and victory over the grave....... 10. I remember a remark rebuffing the observation of slander against fellow Christians in thread after thread intending to generate hatred and malice toward Orthodox Christians. I invoke that denial now when posting the truth about a pastor that produces hate speech in the name of his god. Years old, this truth made news everywhere: Google results by the hundreds:Christian Post, Pastor Hall & bullies boy to suicide And contrary to the actual slander against Coptic Christians that has been pursued on this forum without the dictates of Jesus love for one another, and love for our enemies, as some may see Orthodox Christians, the ignorance that pursues that slander at a constant basis insures it will not be educated by the facts. Otherwise, were it to be so, it would learn that it is a lie that is being published at Pulpit and Pen. When a pastor with a blog posts hate speech against a people who are targeted in Egypt for their faith and are slaughtered by evil that thinks they have no right to live. A pastor! And in print a Christian pursues an agenda intent on calling those same people, the Orthodox, all manner of vile names . Anything but children of God and followers of Christ. And what does that accomplish but proof that the campaigners against brothers and sisters in Christ know nothing of Apologetics. And nothing of Christian history. What Christian pastor hates the Orthodox? What Christian filled with God's holy spirit carries forth that pastors mission to slander members of God's church? God's first church after that of his son Jesus! The above was published by a man who harassed a boy so badly that that child eventually killed himself. And now we have that same pastors harassment of the Orthodox Christians pursuing its assault here and hoping to corrupt the members of Worthy Christian Forums with the lies that the pastor publishes. And others distribute. A pastor that ignorant of church history should be identified as openly as he is identifying himself as a bigot. And as bigots are, he's ignorant as the day is long! This below will prove it. Any Christian here who spent any time in the hate speech threads inviting contempt and ridicule to descend on the Orthodox should at least owe it to their Baptism to read below. That way they'll be smarter than the bully pastor about their own religions history. This is a link from the thread that is posted in the LINKED:Apologetics Board section here. This is the source for the thread:LINKED:Where did all the Christian denominations come from? The hubris of the Protestant that thinks theirs is the only true way is sorely misinformed. After Jesus Christ and his ministry, his church, there was that which is being targeted by a fallen pastor who bullies a child till that child kills himself. And then he pursues a slanderous campaign against the first church after Christ! Because he hates! Rather than loves as Jesus commanded. The Protestant faith that thinks it has every right to hate in the name of God is over a thousand years late in following God and Jesus Christ! That is HISTORY PEOPLE! Slander against the truth be known for what it is! And from the father that brings it life. Coptic Christians (Egyptian Oriental Orthodox) 451 A.D. Perhaps the most amazing, strong, and devout followers of Christ on the earth. Just as the Waldensians are the most persecuted of all protestant denominations, the Coptic Christians of Egypt are the most persecuted of ALL Christian denominations, period. Founded by John-Mark (author of the "Gospel of Mark") in the first century A.D., this church flourished under the authority of the Eastern Church (later to become the Eastern Orthodox church in 1054). At the council of Chalcedon, when the Western "Roman" church began to over reach its authority. This little group of believers was wrongly accused of monophysitism (the Christology that claims that Jesus has one combined nature of God and man). Nothing could be further from the truth as their own creed of faith clearly states that they hold to one Divine nature and one Human nature in perfect unity without mix which is essentially the orthodox position for all of historic biblical Christianity. They were persecuted by the Western Church (early Roman Catholicism), abandoned by the Eastern Church, and eventually persecuted by the Muslims with heavy taxation, beatings, and martyrdom. Were it not for a letter to Mohammed to "spare the Copts as they are your 'kin;" The Coptic Christians would have possibly been driven out or worse, wiped out. But they survived and still exist today and are constantly in the news for all of the atrocities that the Muslim Brotherhood inflict upon them. They come under heavy persecution and have had survive almost 1500 years of constant attack. This church is the fulfillment of the Isaiah prophecy that an "altar would be built in the midst of Egypt" and a "pillar placed" - The Coptic Christians are both an altar to the Lord and have had to be a pillar to His glory for 15 centuries!
  11. PREDATORS, DANGEROUS DEVIANTS & J.D. HALL (of Pulpit & Pen) MAY 30, 2015JANETMEFFERD It’s really disgusting out there. Not just out there, in the moral cesspool of American culture. I mean out there, in the moral cesspool that is rapidly and tragically coming to define American evangelicalism. ....... Now you might remember the name J.D. Your wife RT’d that like she believed you.”
  12. Yes, the bible tells us that the devil is a liar. Unfortunately, just as Jesus had so too does the devil to this day have his disciples. Wolves in sheep's wool. And as Jesus told us, capable of even deceiving the saints with their viperous tongue.
  13. Do you think so? Jesus purpose was to bring truth to those who were the sinners. To lead them from their fallen ways, not give them a slap on the back and an atta-boy. What did God teach about the way people should comport themselves in marriage? Too often in discussions like this people who are very liberal in their behaviors, clinging to the world while holding to the label of Christian, invoke the excuse, look what Jesus did! As if they are able to bear comparison in their behavior to the spirit and ministry of Christ. As if "Jesus did it so I'm OK too." When really, they're not.
  14. Thanks. Are you on board with starving the enemy? Remember the prophecy? That old reptile's destiny is to become a belt! A handbag, maybe a wallet. Sent to the pit that awaits him those accessories better be fire proof I tell ya.
