  1. 'But - .. God commendeth His love toward us, .... in that, ...... while we were yet sinners, ........ Christ died for us. Much more then, .. being now justified by His blood, .... we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if, .. when we were enemies, .... we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, .. being reconciled, .... we shall be saved by His life. And not only so, .. but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, .... by whom we have now received the at-one-ment.' (Romans 5:8-11) Hello there, In the thread where members are entering consecutive verses from Leviticus at the moment: @In Him, entered verse 10 of the quotation above from Romans five, which is a fine verse, and worthy of further consideration; but because of the nature of that thread, where the Word of God is the main consideration and additional thoughts expressed subservient to it; to comment upon this would not have been appropriate. So I am entering it here, in the hope that members would like to give their thoughts upon it. I have quoted a little more of the context, but obviously, the word, 'but', by which it begins points out the fact that it is part of a larger discussion by Paul to believers in Rome. I can't add my own thoughts at the moment for I am having to go off-line for a while, but hope you will feel able to continue in my absence. Thank you In Christ Jesus Chris
  2. And the priest that is anointed shall take of the bullock's blood, .. and bring it to the tabernacle of the congregation: .... And the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, ...... and sprinkle of the blood seven times before the LORD, before the vail of the sanctuary. And the priest shall put some of the blood upon the horns of the altar of sweet incense before the LORD, .. which is in the tabernacle of the congregation; and shall pour all the blood of the bullock at the bottom of the altar of the burnt offering, .. which is at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.' (Leviticus 4:5-7) Praise God * Three times (denoting completeness) the words, 'the priest that is anointed,' are used: once in regard to his own need of to bring a bullock for his own sin,; and twice in regard to the taking of the blood, to sprinkle it 7 times (the number of spiritual perfection) before the Lord, before the veil of the sanctuary; then on the horns of the altar of sweet incense; and then pour what remains at the bottom of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. * The veil: a type of the perfect humanity of Christ; which is of no avail without the blood, for we are saved by His death and not by His life. 'But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.' (Ephesians 2:13) Praise His Holy Name!
  3. Laws for Sin Offerings (cont...):- 'And he (the one offering) .. shall bring the bullock .... unto the door ...... of the tabernacle of the congregation ........ before the LORD; and shall lay his hand upon the bullock's head, and kill the bullock before the LORD.' (Leviticus 4:4) Praise God! * Do you notice that the one who is offering the sin offering figures prominently here in this verse, and not the priest: he has to bring the bullock to the entrance into the tent of assembly, before the Lord, lay his hand upon the bullock's head and kill the bullock before the Lord - not the priest.
  4. Hello @In Him. Looking again, I can see that the wording of your entry is the same as my own. How strange! Yes, we have always been in sync before. I don't know how I got mixed up like this. I ask that you and @turtletwo please overlook my mistake. Within the love of Christ our Saviour, Lord and Head. Chris.
  5. Hello @'In Him' and '@turtletwo', I find that my Bible version (KJV) is not in sync with the versions you are using. In fact quite noticeable differences are discernible, which alter what is typified, for instance in verses 1-3 of this present chapter (ch.4) the words, 'if a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of the Lord'. When in your version, 'In Him', there is no mention of sinning through ignorance. I have found also that when I have attempted to use the MKJV during this present study, I have had to change my mind and go back to the KJV, because words of importance have been omitted. This I am finding disturbing, and feel that I cannot continue. I hope that you will both understand and forgive this decision, and continue as you are led. With love to you both, in Christ Jesus our risen Lord. Chris
  6. * Thank you 'In Him' for the emphasis you placed in Leviticus 4:1-3 which made me think of Hebrews 4:5 and Hebrews 5:1-10. * Thank you 'turtletwo' also for your note against Leviticus 3:16-17. Praise God!
  7. Laws for the Peace Offerings:- (1) And if his oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the LORD. (2) And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and Aaron's sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about. (3) And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the LORD; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards, (4) And the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away. (5) And Aaron's sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt sacrifice, which is upon the wood that is on the fire: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.' (Leviticus 3:1-5) Praise God! Note: The peace offering could be either male or female: not like the burnt offering of chapter 1:3-17, because it typified Christ.
  8. (14) 'And if thou offer a meat offering of thy firstfruits unto the LORD, thou shalt offer for the meat offering of thy firstfruits green ears of corn dried by the fire, even corn beaten out of full ears. (15) And thou shalt put oil upon it, and lay frankincense thereon: it is a meat offering. (16) And the priest shall burn the memorial of it, part of the beaten corn thereof, and part of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.' (Leviticus 2:14-16) Praise God! * Just as the word, 'baken,' in Lev. 2:4 typifies the sufferings and trials of Christ, so the word, 'beaten' does also in verse 14 * A 'meal offering' is a gift offering. to secure favour.
  9. (11) Any food offering which you shall bring to Jehovah shall not be made with leaven. For you shall burn no leaven, nor any honey, in any offering of Jehovah made by fire. (12) As an offering of the firstfruits, you shall bring them to Jehovah. But they shall not be burned on the altar for a sweet savor. (13) And every sacrifice of your food offering shall you season with salt. And you shall not allow the salt of the covenant of your God to be lacking from your food offering. You shall offer salt with all your offerings. (Leviticus 2:11-13) Praise God! * Leaven is fermentation, and honey or any sweet liquor is the cause of it. These two things forbidden because there was no error or corruption in the Antitype (ie., Christ). All was Divine perfection. Nothing therefore which answers to leaven may be in our sacrifice of praise now. 'But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.' (John 4:23-24) * Salt was and is the great antiseptic, preventing fermentation. As leaven and honey were forbidden in sacrifices, so salt is prescribed, because, when partaken of by two parties, it made 'the covenant of salt' invoilable, an indissoluble alliance (e.g., Numbers 18:19; 2 Chronicles 13:5). In Ezra 4:14 = obligations of loyalty.
  10. (7) And if thy oblation be a meat offering baken in the fryingpan, it shall be made of fine flour with oil. (8) And thou shalt bring the meat offering that is made of these things unto the LORD: and when it is presented unto the priest, he shall bring it unto the altar. (9) And the priest shall take from the meat offering a memorial thereof, and shall burn it upon the altar: it is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD. (10) And that which is left of the meat offering shall be Aaron's and his sons': it is a thing most holy of the offerings of the LORD made by fire. (Levitivus 2:7-10) Praise God! * 'Baken': it is a type of Christ, Who was 'tried as by fire' * Fine flour: not merely ground, but perfect and ready, no unevenness, So with the life of Christ, 'The Man Christ Jesus'. Flour is to the wheat what blood is to the body; and spirit is to the resurrection body. * Oil: Flour mixed with oil, and then oil poured on it. So Christ's life permeated and actuated by the Holy Spirit. * Francincense: This ascended to God as a sweet savour.
  11. Laws For Grain Offerings (cont...) :- (4) And if you bring a sacrifice of a food offering baked in the oven, it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mixed with oil, or unleavened wafers anointed with oil. (5) And if your offering is a food offering on the griddle, your offering shall be of fine flour unleavened, mixed with oil. (6) You shall break it in pieces and pour oil on it. It is a food offering. (Leviticus 2:4-6) Praise God!
  12. (2) And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons, the priests. And he shall take out of it his handful of flour and its oil, with all its frankincense. And the priest shall burn the memorial of it on the altar, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to Jehovah. (3) And the rest of the food offering shall be Aaron's and his sons', most holy of the offerings of Jehovah made by fire. (Leviticus 2:2-3) Praise God!
  13. Laws For Grain Offerings:- (1) And when anyone will offer a food offering to Jehovah, his offering shall be of fine flour. And he shall pour oil on it and put frankincense on it. (Leviticus 2:1) Praise God!
  14. (16) And he shall pluck away its crop with its feathers, and throw it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes. (17) And he shall cut it in two with the wings of it, not dividing it. And the priest shall burn it on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire. It is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to Jehovah. (Leviticus 1:16-17) Praise God! * Leviticus is the book related to worship * (Numbers 1:47-54) - The Levites were set apart to serve the tabernacle * All its types refer to worship, as those in Exodus referred to redemption. 'Blessed is the one whom You choose, and cause to come near You. He shall dwell in Your courts; we shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, of Your holy temple.' (Psalm 65:4)
  15. Hello there, Looking up the word 'cloud', in order to see what I could find concerning this wonderful provision of God for His People, of the cloud by day and the appearance of fire by night: I saw reference to it worthy of a follow up in subsequent books ; but the crowning moment was the last mention of it, in Isaiah 4:2; the whole passage of which forming it's context under the heading in my online Bible of:- 'The Branch of the Lord Glorified'. Which is an end time prophecy concerning Jerusalem, and the Messiah ('The Branch') * In my Bible, the chapter heading is, 'Zion's Future Glory', it consists of just six verses, so I will quote it here:- 'In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem: When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning. And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence. And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.' (Isaiah 4:2-6) Praise God! Praise His Holy Name!
  16. 'And he put the golden altar .. in the tent of the congregation .... before the vail: And he burnt sweet incense thereon; .. as the LORD commanded Moses.' (Exodus 40:26-27) Praise God!
  17. 'And he put the candlestick in the tent of the congregation, .. over against the table, .... on the side of the tabernacle southward. And he lighted the lamps before the LORD; .. as the LORD commanded Moses.' (Exodus 40:24) Praise God!
  18. 'And he put the table in the tent of the congregation, .. upon the side of the tabernacle northward, .... without the vail. And he set the bread in order upon it before the LORD; .. as the LORD had commanded Moses.' (Exodus 40:22-23) Praise God!
  19. 'And he took and put the testimony into the ark, .. and set the staves on the ark, .... and put the mercy seat above upon the ark: And he brought the ark into the tabernacle, .. and set up the vail of the covering, .... and covered the ark of the testimony; ...... as the LORD commanded Moses.' (Exodus 40:20-21) Praise God!
  20. 'Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: .. We have such an high priest, .... Who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; ...... A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, ........ which the Lord pitched, and not man.' (Hebrews 8:1-2) Praise God!
  21. 'When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples murmured at it, He said unto them, "Doth this offend you? What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where He was before? 'It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."' (John 6:61-63) Praise God! * This verse has been enormously important to me over the last few months. Spoken by the Lord, to his disciples, when they were disquieted by his words to them concerning 'eating' and 'drinking' of Him. He takes His own flesh out of the equation by saying, 'What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where He was before,' (what then?) - ie., He would not be around to eat and drink of would He? No. He says, 'the flesh counts for nothing' (ie., it doesn't figure in this), 'it is the spirit that quickeneth': 'the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life'. Yes, by hearing and believing His Words, and inwardly digesting them, His disciples would be eating and drinking of Him, and thereby being energised by life, spiritual life. Praise His Holy Name!
  22. Yes, @turtletwo Each successive action demands our singular attention: as also the detail of dates and times. God's attention to detail is so precise, and the recording of it equally so, that it impresses upon us the important significance of each. Each part being a type of the Lord Jesus Christ, each mirroring His ministry and His Work, and that of the Holy Spirit. We really are on holy ground, aren't we? Also, what impresses itself upon us, is the obedience of those who were especially chosen by God, divinely equipped with the necessary skills and instruction to accomplish His work. Everything was done according to the Word of God given to Moses. No one dared to introduce their own embellishments, or add anything of themselves to the work, all had to be of God, for Him, that His purpose be accomplished. Praise God! How necessary it is for us to be careful how we handle this precious Word: that we do not use it deceitfully, interpret it according to our own understanding, or misapply it for our own ends. May the Lord bless His Word to us, as we read, believe and inwardly digest it, that it may be both 'life' and 'spirit' to us: a sword in the hand of the Holy Spirit in our lives, setting us apart for God, in Christ Jesus, that our lives may reflect that order, and be a witness to the glory of God in our small corner of the world, that His Name be praised. In Christ Jesus Chris
  23. 'And it came to pass .. in the first month .... in the second year, ...... on the first day of the month, ........ that the tabernacle was reared up. And Moses reared up the tabernacle, .. and fastened his sockets, .... and set up the boards thereof, ...... and put in the bars thereof, ........ and reared up his pillars. And he spread abroad the tent over the tabernacle, .. and put the covering of the tent above upon it; .... as the LORD commanded Moses.' (Exodus 40:17-19) Praise God!
  24. 'And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, .. and wash them with water. .... And thou shalt put upon Aaron the holy garments, ...... and anoint him, ........ and sanctify him; that he may minister unto Me in the priest's office. And thou shalt bring his sons, .. and clothe them with coats: .... And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, ...... that they may minister unto Me in the priest's office: ........ for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.' Thus did Moses: according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he. (Exodus 40:12-16) Praise God!
  25. 'And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the vessels thereof: and it shall be holy. And thou shalt anoint the altar of the burnt offering, and all his vessels, and sanctify the altar: and it shall be an altar most holy. And thou shalt anoint the laver and his foot, and sanctify it.' (Exodus 40:9) Praise God!
