  1. ‘Again, I considered all labour, and every right work, that for this a man is envied by his neighbor. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit.’ (Ecclesiastes 4:4)
  2. Ecclesiastes 4:1 'So I returned, and considered all the oppressions that are done under the sun. And behold the tears of the oppressed ones, and they had no comforter! And on the side of those who oppressed them there was power, but they had no comforter.'(MKJV)
  3. Ecclesiastes 3:21 (LITV) 'Who knows the spirit of the sons of man, whether it goes upward; and the spirit of the beast, whether it goes downward to the earth? God Knows! (that is all that matters)
  4. Ecclesiastes 3:17 'I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.' Praise God! For His mercy and His grace.
  5. Ecclesiastes 3:15 'That which has been is now; and that which is to be has already been; and God requires that which is past.'
  6. Ecclesiastes 3:13) 'And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God.' Praise God!
  7. Hello @Butero. You are very quick to denigrate this man of God, Butero. May God forgive you. Satan was a slanderer too. In Christ Jesus Our risen and glorified Saviour, Lord and Head. Christine
  8. Ecclesiastes 3:11 'He has made everything beautiful in His time; also He has set eternity in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God makes from the beginning to the end.' Praise God!
  9. Hello @Butero For me to debate this with you would take us way off the purpose of this thread. Although it has already been derailed. It is sufficient that I tell you that I stand by what I said in my entry:- In Christ Jesus - Christine
  10. Hello @Butero My Bible is the KJV 1611 version, published by Kregel publications. It says it is not found in any of the texts. I should be very careful before you call anyone a servant of Satan. My Bible is called, 'The Companion Bible'. I hope this information is sufficient for you.
  11. Hello @Butero, The margin of my KJV informed me of the fact that the words of the latter part of Romans 8:1 was not included in the original text. It's rightful place is in verse 4, as you will see. Thank you for responding.
  12. 'There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, (who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit). But the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His Own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and f or sin, condemned sin in the flesh; so that the righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. (Rom 8:1-4) * This is where the words of verse 1b belong, where the Holy Spirit intended it to be. .
  13. Hello there, With respect, this is not applicable to us, who are members of the Body of Christ. For our calling is in pure grace. The Olive tree, to which this verse belongs was to those gentiles who were grafted into the Olive tree in order to make the natural branches (Israel) jealous, and for no other reason, therefore they could be spoken of in this way. The church which is His Body is not grafted into Israel. In Christ Jesus - Christine
  14. 'There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.'(Rom 8:1) There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus - that statement can be read entirely as it is without taking from the truth: for in the original manuscripts what follows in this verse is not there, it was added by the translators, being included in a verse further on in the chapter (Rom.8:4). We have passed from death into life, in Christ Jesus, so we will not come into condemnation. It has nothing to do with our walk, it has everything to do with the grace of God and the all-sufficiency of Christ's sacrifice for sin and it's consequence. In Christ Jesus - Chris
  15. @lokp 'know that he who turns back the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.' (James 5:20) 'And above all things have fervent love to yourselves, for love will cover a multitude of sins.' (1 Peter 4:8) Hi there, When I came into this thread, I thought that the verse you would refer to would be one of the above, probably because I am familiar with them. I quote them because I think they are worth comparing with the one you have highlighted from Proverbs. My version of choice, because I am familiar with it, is the KJV, but the above were quoted from the MKJV. Looking up Proverbs 17:9, in the MKJV, I find that it adds something to that of the NV that you have used:- (Pro 17:9) 'He who covers a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates friends.' (ie., 'true friends') It gives another slant on it, I feel ? Thank you
  16. Ecclesiastes 3:7 'a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; ... ' 'Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.' (Psa_141:3)
  17. 'At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: (2 Tim. 4:16-17) Praise God!
  18. Who stood with Paul at His first defence (or, 'first answer' - kjv)?
  19. Ecclesiastes 3:3 'A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up.'
  20. Earlier in the thread someone quoted Luke 9, remarking on the fact that when the Lord sent out the twelve, and indeed the seventy following, He sent them out without any form of defence, and we are told later in Luke 22:35 that they lacked nothing. God not only empowered them but He provided for them as well. Yet in Luke 22:36 He used those important words, 'But now', for a change was taking place. 'And He said to them, "But now, he who has a purse, let him take it, and likewise his wallet. And he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one." This was not for His own defence, as we see later when He healed Malchus (Luke 22:50,51; John 18:10), but for theirs, for He would no longer be with them, and they would be scattered abroad. The thought of a teacher having to carry a firearm is alarming, but there should be high security within every school to prevent the possibility of anyone entering with a weapon of any sort. That way there would be no need of anyone contemplating having to use a weapon.
  21. Ecclesiastes 3:1 'To every thing there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heavens: ... ' Praise God!
  22. Ecclesiastes 2:25 'For who can eat, or who else can hasten unto, more than I?' Without God's favour their can be no enjoyment in our daily tasks.
  23. Ecclesiastes 2:23 'For all His days are sorrows, and His travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is vanity.'
  24. @stronggrace55 Hello there, Your step daughter has chosen to live in her father's home, for there is room there for her and her new-born child, yes? He is the baby's grandfather, so has the right to be part of that child's life. Your wife naturally wants to help her daughter, but, if that requires that she also lives in her former husbands home for the early days of the baby's life to support her daughter, that will require a great deal of trust on your part, and a great deal of patient accommodation on the former husbands part. Is there a time limit set for this stay? A matter of days only? If so, you can afford to accommodate the arrangement, for she is your wife, and will return after the allotted days. This is a difficult situation for you, but trusting and gracious giving will endear your wife to you more than resistance. She will return to you with gratitude, and your step-daughter will not forget your kindness. May God give you the grace and love to trust and love. In Christ Jesus Christine
  25. Ecclesiastes 2:20 (kjv) 'Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour which I took under the sun' * I thank God that in Christ Jesus we can see beyond the confines of what is 'under the sun', therefore have hope of life eternal and full of glory.
