  1. Technically no source states how Jesus looked like, portraying Jesus in different ways isn't bad so long it doesn't defame or contradict his nature.
  2. History proves otherwise and we have historical evidence that unblemished lambs for the Temple sacrifice were in fact kept in the fields near Bethlehem during the winter months. With that said, it is impossible to prove whether or not Jesus was born on December 25. And, ultimately, it does not matter nor does it prove it to be a pagan festival.
  3. Not unless we portray him as something he's not, I can't find any thing in the icons that portray him negatively or contradict his nature.
  4. I don't know why people here always turn threads into Catholic Protestant fights.
  5. Some facts on the Inquisition for you: Inquisitors were not fanatical priests as they are often portrayed. In fact, many of them were not priests at all but legal experts trained in Spanish schools. Contrary to popular belief, torture was rarely used. It was used less by the Inquisition than it was in the tribunals of other countries throughout Europe at the time. Stories about cruel torture methods used by the Inquisitors and the terrible conditions in which prisoners were kept were completely falsified. The Inquisition actually had the best jails in Spain. Prisoners of secular courts would actually blaspheme so that they could be transferred to Inquisition prisons and escape the maltreatment of the secular prisons. Persecuting witchcraft was a craze in Europe at the time, and secular courts were not tolerant of these kinds of offenses. The accused were often burned at the stake. The Inquisition, on the other hand, declared witchcraft a delusion. No one could be tried for it or burned at the stake. The Inquisition was virtually powerless in rural areas. In the entire sixteenth century, the Inquisition in Spain executed only about 50 people, which is contrary to the "Black Legend," which numbers the executions in the hundreds of thousands. Of all the Inquisitions together throughout Europe, scholars estimate that the number of people executed ranged somewhere between 3,000 and 5,000. That averages, at most, about fourteen people per year throughout the entire continent over a period of 350 years.
  6. Sola Scriptura is not a Biblical doctrine nor was a doctrine like it or similar to it ever in existence within Christian history before the reformation, the only doctrines that I share with the Catholic Church is prayer to Saints, Mary, and icons. Other then that I can't defend them on anything else. Rogue Crusaders killed Jews true, but the Crusade itself was meant to stop Islamic expansionism, random soldiers taking the opportunity to go pillage people during the war doesnt mean the war itself is unjust.
  7. Wells that's just how I say country, I make distinction from saying Americans.
  8. Crusades were a defensive war and a direct response to Islamic conquests, the inquisition was also in a way an attempt at defending the state, there were no massacres during the inquisition that's a myth. Protestants killed way more then the Roman Catholic Church. The Catholic Church has done bad things I never declared it perfect, it however believes in the same Bible as you and I, far different from a religious group whose lifetime and founding has been bad.
  9. America the country not its people, by country I mean government, that's why I don't say Americans.
  10. Read my previous comment I'm not blaming the American people just the American government.
  11. Have you seen Catholics suicide bombing themselves in Churches? And saying Mary is great while beheading Christians? All Christians in the Middle East are virtually Catholics and Orthodox, so I don't know what your deal is?
  12. Again none of you guys can prove the Catholic Church copied pagan traditions. When you read the Ten Commandments in Exodus, you will see that they are not actually numbered. Therefore it is entirely possible that one denomination separated “Thou shalt not have graven images” as its own Commandment (joining together the two “Thou shalt not Covets” at the end), whereas another denomination includes this as part of the First Commandment “Thou Shalt Have No Other gods before Me,” and the two “Covets” are separated. The Sabbath day on Saturday was never meant to be a day of worship just a day to abstain from work, Answer: Observing a Sabbath day of rest/non-work was a command in the Old Covenant law (Exodus 20:8; 31:12–18). Christians are not under the law but have traditionally set aside Sunday as a day of worship and rest in remembrance of the fact that Jesus was resurrected on a Sunday. Some view Sunday as the Christian Sabbath, essentially transferring the Old Covenant laws about not working from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday to Sundays. 13. You can pm me and we can have a debate on his subject.
  14. You do know Islam is literally hell bent on murder and hate that's more then enough reason to hate it.
  15. You do know Islam is literally hell bent on murder and hate that's more then enough reason to hate it.
  16. LGBT people are free to nag about free speech, but I can't speak against sinful sexual acts because it would get called hate speech?
  17. The support for the Gulf states go back before Obamas governing, Obama just sucked up more then previous presidents, but it has been going on for quite some time. I'm not blaming the real American people if they really were governing their own country then their would be no ties with the Gulf states, but unfortunately the American people don't govern their own country.
  18. I don't believe I ever declared myself Catholic on these forums, I'm neither Catholic nor Orthodox yet, I can debate with you if you really claim to really know the Bible, but not on these threads. Your not revealing any truth just mad hate.
  19. Claiming to represent freedom and democracy yet supporting Islamic dictatorships which treat Christians and Jews as second class citizens and actively oppress and murder Christians and Jews, thats more then enough for me to hate the US.
  20. The Catholic Church was being politicalised at the time I agree, but Islam in its heart has always been meant to control every aspect of life, its worse then communism. Even how your supposed to wash is dictated in Islam. Most general Non Catholic historians generally agree the inquisition killed about 5000-6000 people not millions as claimed by certain Protestants or people who just don't like the Catholic Church. Anyhow I'm not Catholic nor will I defend their actions throughout history.
  21. No, its because you provide nothing historical to back you up.
  22. Known Anglo-Saxon deities like Woden and Thor are paralleled in Norse and Germanic pre-Christian religion, but there are no such equivalents to Bede's Eostre and Hretha, which strengthens the case for them being inventions. There are no images of Eostre, no carvings, no legends, and no association with hares, rabbits or eggs. Grimm explored the possibility of a German "Ostara" in Deutsche Mythologie, but in the absence of any primary evidence, all he could produce was conjecture. We're also left wondering why, if Eosturmonath really was named after a pagan goddess, the staunch Christian Charlemagne chose it to replace the old Roman name of April. Only one piece of documentary evidence for Eostre exists: a passing mention in Bede's The Reckoning of Time. Bede explains that the lunar month of Eosturmonath "was once called after a goddess... named Eostre, in whose honour feasts were celebrated." even if her worship really existed among anglo-saxons, anyhow Bede describes the worship as being full of animal sacrifice and perverted sexual acts, nothing like easter we now celebrate. the name for the Christian celebration is derived from the Greek word Pascha, which comes from pesach, the Hebrew word for Passover. Easter is the Christian Passover festival. The idea that Sol Invictus was born in December 25 is also a common myth, while pagan worship of the sun certainly existed in Rome before the spread of the fulfillment of that promise in Christ came to the city; the celebration of Sol Invictus as a god in Rome actually came as pagans attempted to suppress Christianity. This early attempt as suppressing Christianity by means of the pagan worship of Sol is found in the Historia Augusta, a pagan history of Rome compiled in the fourth century AD. There is no mention of the celebration of Sol Invictus in Roman history until the rule of Aurelian (A.D. 270-275). Aurelian did try to re-introduce the worship of Sol Invictus by decree in the year 274. But there is no record of this festival being held on December 25th. “The traditional feast days of Sol, as recorded in the early imperial fasti, were August 8th and/or August 9th, possibly August 28th, and December 11th.”(Hijmans, p. 588 ) Aurelian did declare games to Sol every four years. But there is no record from the period or early historiographers that these games were associated with December 25th in any way. The best evidence suggest that the games were held October 19-22 of their calendar. Anyway, on another coincidence, a year after Aurelian declared these games in honor of Sol Invictus, he was assassinated by his own pagan Roman officers out of fear he would execute them based on false charges. The earliest calendar to mention that Invictus as a specified date for Roman religious life comes from a text of the Philocalian Calendar, VIII Kal recorded in an illuminated 4th Century manuscript called The Chronography of 354. In this late manuscript the date is listed in Mensis December (The Month of December) as N·INVICTI·CM·XXX. Many scholars through the years have assumed that INVICTI in this calendar must mean “Sol Invictus.” This is possible. However, elsewhere the calendar does not hesitate to make explicit mention of festivals to Sol, for example: on SOLIS·ET·LVNAE·CM·XXIIII (August 28th) and LVDI·SOLIS (October 19-22). Even if INVICTI does refer to Sol Invictus on December 25th of this calendar, all this shows is that the celebration of Sol Invictus was placed on December 25th after Christianity had already widely accepted and celebrated December 25th as the Nativity of Christ.
  23. You know Isis was rapidly expanding during the American intervention in Syria and only stopped during the Russian intervention. So long as America has ties with the Gulf states I will not even look at it.
  24. America has practically done nothing to stop Isis and has probably been indirectly aiding it, not to mention it stays silent as it's so called allies in the Gulf support all kinds of Islamic barbarians to murder Christians. Ever seen a US president (while he was actually president) ever criticize the Gulf states or take action against their oppression. I've seen Obama and other presidents fling all types of stuff at Israel, but for some reason the most evil Islamofacist nations on Earth (the Gulf states) are left untouched? Now there's something to think about, your country has already been infiltrated and is already under control of the Gulf States, wake up westerners lest you become like us in the Middle East.
  25. Islamic jihads have altogether killed about 100 million or more, I'm not exactly Catholic, but they are also Christians it's not for you to judge. The inquisition only killed about 5000-6000 people not even a million. All middle eastern Christians are Catholics and Orthodox mostly, there aren't many Protestants among us.
