  1. Confused about prophecy

I suspect that you will have a hard time understanding any prophecy if you don't believe in the power of the Holy Ghost.
  2. Confused about prophecy

I would be careful about testing all prophecy by the standards of Matt Dillahunty. Some prophecies have been very specific (for instance, the prophecies about Cyrus the great in Isaiah 44 and 45). Other prophecies, however, have been far less specific (for instance, the prophecy of Christ in Numbers 24). For the latter, I believe that it is important to seek the inspiration of the Holy Ghost because if the Holy Ghost reveals the meaning of a prophecy to us, then we can know the meaning even though the language of the prophecy is vague. More generally, the power of the Holy Ghost can guide us into all truth if we will exercise faith in Christ and seek the truth with real intent. This is somewhat beyond the question that you posed, but a very significant principle in its own right and one that is related. Do you believe in the power of the Holy Ghost?
  3. Why would God do this to me ?

One of the doctrines that helps me to make sense out of difficult situations in life is the doctrine that there must be an opposition in all things. Some Christians find this difficult to accept, but for me it is a key to understanding situations like the one that you have described. In any event, if the struggle is a personal one for you, meaning that you are now about to have a new child that you would rather not have, I would encourage you to have faith in Christ. I have found great happiness through faith in Christ and I'm confident that you can do all things which are expedient in him if you have faith in him.
  4. Proverbs 18:21

Words are important. We should take care to speak good ones all the time.
  5. Question about creation

Some people believe that "day" in this passage means "period of time." If that's the case, then the periods of time that we are talking about could have been much longer than 24 hours.
  6. Acts 16:30-31

I would say that one of the difficulties is that salvation is a word that different people use to mean different things. That being the case, I'm not sure I even understand what you mean by "judge someone's salvation." However, I think that one important thing for us to remember is that we need to believe in Jesus Christ and repent of our sins in order to enjoy the happiness that is available in Christ and through Christ. And again, I don't think I understand what you mean by "judge someone's salvation," but I suspect that a lot of people are missing the happiness that they might otherwise receive if they would focus more on helping others to believe in Christ and turn away from sin than on speaking words of condemnation against those who do believe in Christ but whose faith is not strong enough to keep them from a particular sin. In any event, I would say that it is good for us to remember that we should not continue in sin, and also that we should encourage faith and repentance in all people, even those who are improperly "judging someone's salvation."
  7. I like the emphasis in the article that you quoted on protecting life and honoring God's laws about sex. The Bonhoeffer quote about cheap grace was also very interesting. One of the things that I appreciate about my church is its emphasis on the doctrines of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and repentance from sin. We also talk a lot about keeping the commandments of God and we have high standards when it comes to things like abortion and sex outside of marriage, both of which are strongly and openly discouraged.
  8. Sharing devotions..

    Nice poem 🙂
  9. Hi

Thanks, everyone. I appreciate your kindness and goodwill 🙂
  10. An innocent child - heaven or hell?

I believe that children are not accountable for their sins until they reach an age of accountability. Until this time, they are alive in Christ because of the atonement of Christ. In other words, newborns and infants are alive in Christ because of his atonement and shall be received into paradise if they die before reaching the age of accountability.
  11. What is meant by...?

I think the point of this verse is to emphasize the importance of faith in the Lord Jesus. We need to believe that he is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and that through faith in him we can be cleansed from sin and lifted up at the last day.
  12. I think the point to take away from this verse is that we should be completely devoted to Christ. There should not be any parts of our lives that are not devoted to him. There should be nothing that we are holding back, so to speak. Christ wants disciples who are entirely committed to him, with no reservations.
  13. Looking for answers

Depending on what you mean by "womanizer," it might be time to end the relationship. Adultery can be a reason for divorce, especially when it happens multiple times.
  14. Hi

Just introducing myself. My name is Kevin. I am a Christian, looking for a good place to discuss the scriptures online.
