  1. whoa whoa whoa. wait just one second. T.O.S state that this is an english only forum.
  2. wow! that Matthew 24! soooo true! People are really lost out there. I am so very grateful he found me!
  3. when you take God/sprituality out of the equation, you are left with .....
  4. still very raw from leaving a country I'd grown to love (and be loved), I really shouldnt have watched this.
  5. Works for me. There are people who monitor sites such as this one. You guys do know that.............right? I didn't know that the word BOOM was a threat to America. Muslims damn and threaten America, Black Liberation Theologists damn and threaten America and nothing happens to them. I doubt that my little boom will bring down the wrath of Homeland Security. Ha! It might not bring down the wrath of homeland security, but is there anything Christian in jokes about blowing people up? I agree amor. Imagine Christ thinking this way.
  6. goodness! poor Guatemala. At the same time, I hope this volcano activity and storms dont catch on in Nicaragua (it has the most active volcanos in the area, maybe the world). Though death by lava would be kinda cool
  7. I dont remember and I am too lazy to go look, though its in the next room I bought it beginning of last year when they were on sale.
  8. I'm sorry, but how exactly do those scriptures state that angels hold our place? Like ... how?!
  9. Oh my goodness, can you imagine how delicious that would be? I've had beef. LOVE IT! I've had buffalo. same result. Now imagine combining the two, and possibly adding some bacon to it.
  10. For the memory thing, I can do you one better. The JVC Everio has a hard disk memory. Mine has 75 hours of memory but I think they have some that have about 100 hours. There is also a slot of a memory card so you can do both.
  11. well that was creepy ... after i posted here, i went to the "view new posts" and the thread appearing below this one was "the one shall be taken, and the other left...." maybe I laughed a little too hard?
  12. <<< literally!! oh man, too funny. too funny. maybe they have that extra large chimney so santa can throw in extra presents? oh my stomach is starting to hurt from laughing
  13. eeek!! can u imagine unknowingly buying a dead person for your fiance to wear when u propose? and forever after that? oh man. so eery
  14. I dont know if they are doing this out of the love of money though.
  15. sounds like you are stuck between a rock and a hard place. I was in the exact same situation last summer. unfortunately for me, the only option WAS to let the cat go. Have you asked your management for special exemption? God is kinda in the business of softening people's heart at the most unexpected times/situations. The only other thing I can think of is to leave the dog outside where you live. You can bring it food at a designated spot or ask your daughter to do so since you will be away. I can understand how you are feeling though. Where I am living right now, there are about as many stray dogs as there are street kids (LOTS!). Its hard to see especially since all of them are very frail with only skin and bone.
  16. I personally know former North Koreans who have family still there who would disagree with that. I believe that if NK is ever publically exposed to the world, there will be horrific human suffering revealed there. Its already been exposed. Many times. Many, many times. Unfortunately, politics and "whats in it for us" takes precedence over helping these people.
  17. I actually know of people (family, actually) who work in Development who deny that North Koreans are in dire need. It almost seems hopeless
  18. bizarre! time for the both of them to, how do I put this nicely, not live anymore.
  19. toChrist, I work in the field and I can totally sympathize with what you saw. Admin costs are never supposed to be more than 10%. I am curious though how you got the stats that they spend 90% on themselves. this seems highly unlikely as 10% on program is so low that they probably will be shut down or even exposed by people like auditors and such. We have to realize that the salaries these people earn while living in "developing countries" go much further than they would in western countries. I am in nicaragua right now and am living comfortably on less than $150/month (excluding rent). I can afford to eat out a few times a month and also do a bit of shopping while treating myself to things I never could never afford at home like semi-regular pedicures and manicures Having said that, it would be foolish not to do research on the organization you are working for. One place to start is charity navigator I would recommend grassroots organizations. The smaller the organization, the more transparent and the less money needed to spend on other things (to keep the organization afloat) rather than on program. a little extra: We also have to pray for people who work in this field. It has one of the highest depression and suicide rates. People who work in the disaster part of NGOs usually last about 3yrs before they burn out and retire. Its a very difficult thing to see poverty everyday and to be separated from your family and basic comforts.
