  1. Possibly, but I still believe that you can walk away.
  2. I don't think you can lose your salvation like that. I think you can walk away and never return.
  3. I don't think everyone who believes in eternal security believes in living a sinful lifestyle. I'm just trying to go by what Scripture says.
  4. Let me be clear. I don't think it's right to say we can live in sin and still be saved. I think that is abusing grace. I think the Bible speaks more of making every effort not to sin and making our election sure. When I read the book of Hebrews, it seemed to be warning believers not to fall short of the promises due to them. That being said, I don't think I can say the Bible supports OSAS anymore. I wanted to believe OSAS because it's easier to just say all sin is covered than to have that serious conversation with yourself about whether you truly obey Jesus' commandments. But after looking at Scripture for myself, it seems that's the point of all the warnings in the New Testament---that salvation is at stake. And if we abandon the part of Scripture that we don't like, then that explains why God's Spirit won't reside in our churches.
  5. You've lost me. I don't see how this explains how you can live like the devil and still be saved.
  6. I'm praying for you, Melinda. Worthy has been a source of encouragement and support for me as I recover my life. Not only have people prayed for me but they've shared their stories. And now, being able to pray for you encouraged me too. Right now I am fighting to lead a healthy life and stay out of a negative mindset. I remember that the Lord is with me even when I can't expressly feel His presence. He still has a plan for my life. He still delivers. He still cares. Hallelujah!
  7. Now, no believer has God's approval to live in sin (Romans 3:31). God chastises disobedient children (Hebrews 12:6-8). A believer who lives in sin will be judged at the Judgment Seat of Christ (2nd Corinthians 5:9-11). But the gift of eternal life has nothing to do with the manner in which we choose to live here on earth. You never have to be re-saved, it is not possible. Just as the physical birth is irreversible, so also is the second spiritual birth by the Holy Spirit of God irreversible. Salvation CANNOT be lost. The Bible teaches that every believer is a member of the Body of Christ. Jesus is the Head of that Body, which is the Church. Colossians 1:18, “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.” Romans 12:5, “So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.” So if a believer could ever lose salvation, then Jesus would have to amputate part of His body! The very second you believe the Gospel, you are permanently saved. You instantly become a part of Christ's Body, the Church. Although many local churches require a person to officially join to become a member of their group, you don't need to be voted into THE CHURCH. You automatically become a member of the Church when you vote for Jesus, that is, when you place your trust in the Good News of what Christ has done to pay for your sins on the cross, believing that He raised up physically from the dead three days later. That is the only way to get to Heaven. 1st Thessalonians 4:14, “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” So there is no separate doctrine of eternal security in the Bible. Once you have eternal life, it is everlasting life, which cannot end. Everlasting life is life that lasts forever. So how could you ever lose it? God would be a liar if He took everlasting life back. Also, please listen to the awesome MP3 sermon by Pastor Ralph Yankee Arnold titled, “Raised For Our Justification.” Dr. Arnold explains what the Scripture mean in 1st Corinthians 15:2, “By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memorywhat I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.” The Bible is speaking about Christ's resurrection, without which our faith would be in vain. Thank God for the gift of His only begotten Son, Who paid our debt of sin... “Being saved is not something that you perform, it is something that He performs.” —Pastor Ralph Yankee Arnold, a great quote from the awesome sermon, “Raised For Our Justification.” That first quote in red saying you can live like the devil and still go to heaven. Do you believe that's true? I thought you said if someone lives sinfully, they weren't saved in the first place.
  8. I am still undecided on whether OSAS is true or not. It's really because I see merit in both what Cletus and Blood Bought posted. I think it's okay for now to be undecided because I think if you go to one side or another, it should be what you're fully convinced of as a believer.
  9. In the past six months, I've done and thought some things I'm not proud of and felt I was drifting from the Lord. But the Lord has a way of reaching us and guarding us even when it seems like we've drifted away. For me, being really honest with the Lord and myself helps. The other day, for example, I realized I had closed off a part of my heart to the Lord. Why? I was upset with Him because none of my life goals came together. But I prayed about it honestly and came out hungry for God's presence. Sometimes we suffer and it makes us think God isn't truly there for us. But the truth is that we need God and He promised to always be with us. Fortunately, it's not about how faithful we are but about how Faithful God is.
  10. Thank you for sharing this, Willa. I'm glad I've encouraged you. It must be tough to live without your husband of 54 years. I admire your perseverance. I also like what you've said about thankfulness. That helps me too. I'm thankful right now for my husband, for these wonderful encouraging posts, and for my relationship with God. I pray with a hunger for God's presence now and I'm really enjoying Him. I asked God to heal me and restore the joy of my salvation. The best part about praying this way was remembering how much I enjoy belonging to the Lord.
  11. I'm stunned by the love shown in this post. Thank you so much, that is incredible. I won't forget this kindness, Jostler, I really appreciate it.
  12. That is so beautiful. This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you
  13. Thank you, Turtletwo! You and the others at Worthy have become a safe haven for me. I always feel like I can be encouraged here and you're one of the main reasons why.
  14. I hear you. I'm realizing now that I often lose sight of what's truly important. God always has a reason for why He does things in our lives. I'm praying that I can value God first in my heart once again.
