  1. “ Why must you always be so gross? I will NOT pull your finger! Sorry.
  2. Eating on the Sabbath Is not a violation of God’s Law.Cooking is.The Sabbath- Keeping Jews to this day do all their cooking the day before.Did you?
  3. Here’s your incentive for trying to live a God-Pleasing life “IF” you are saved. It’s human nature to want to repay somebody who has done you a good deed. Some guy up the road from me carried my daughter home after she had been in a horrendous bike wreck. That was twenty years ago and to this day I never fail to wave to him as I go by his home.I would do anything for him to this day.If I can be that grateful to one who did such a simple thing, imagine the gratitude Incould conjure up for the very one who saved me from an eternity in Hell! If one lacks the class to respond to love with love, there exists other ways.If you believe the Gospel of 1cor15:1-4 God is obligated to get you Home.If you enjoy getting your rear-end kicked between the day you first believed until the day you died( which may be much sooner than would be normal), have at it.God will acquiesce.Personally, I am a free man in Christ and I do what I want .The only reason that works is because God has given me a heart transplant and my wants have been changed by an indwelling Holy Spirit.I do the same thing with my sin that God does—— I put it on the Cross and leave it there. If I am fool enough to take advantage of the Freedom that Christ’s death payed for , I can assure you God knows how to chastise his children .Resting, not working ,in the finished work of the Cross and HIS imputed righteousness leads to a joyful, glorious life. Why not give it a try? Faith plus nothing.God bless.
  4. If you believe you can lose your salvation you are in danger of doing just that. All of those that think salvation can be lost think that way because they are depending to some degree that their performance, which of course is fallable, is what saves them or keeps them saved. They do not fully trust in the Blood Of Christ alone to save them....they gotta add their pitiful attempts at perfection to make sure they are covered. It is an insult to the Sacrifice that Christ alone gave to Mankind.God frowns on that.Big time.Grace is what saves you and works cancels grace.Be careful what you do with God’s Grace. It May mean more than you ever imagined.
  5. If you are living a life of sinless perfection, let me ask how you are doing with those pesky sins of omission that your type always refuses to address. How much of your idle time this past week did you spend working in hospitals and food kitchens, doing volunteer work to help those less fortunate than you?How many strangers did you invite into your home to feed and clothe?why do so many fail to see the obvious ? Every time one goes down the road of self- justification ,no matter what you think you have accomplished, the bar is always placed higher—- always beyond the reach of the deluded , proud sinner. You never committed adultery? So what ? If you ever looked with lust toward somebody , you have sinned.Doing pretty well with the 613 commandments? That’s great.James said however if you break just one , you have broken them all. Batted 1000 with all of all of those have you? How you doing with the sins of omission that we discussed?Only the extremely blind could not see that there is a trend here.God is behind this trend of constantly raising the bar higher and higher.God purposely set a standard that both Peter and Paul admitted they nor their Jewish fathers could not keep.Law-keeping for Salvation is a fool’s errand and if you fail to see that with all the roadblocks that God has set in your way, you are unwise to say the least.God gave all these laws to prove that you can’t keep them. No amount of willl-power or self-control is enough to accomplish the impossible .One can only hope that God would just provide another way for Salvation.Praise God, He did.He sent His Son to fulfill all these laws and provide a way to be justified without the Law.It’s called FAITH. Christianity 101.Read Romans, at least the first three or four chapters to get familiar with God’s way to be saved. It is a way that is actually attainable for fallen, sinful men.
  6. Plesae expand on your thoughts.....do you believe that at salvation you have the ability with God’s help to actually live a perfect life—- no more sinning because He empowered you to live an actual sin- free life? Or did he declare you to be righteous despite your sins because of your faith in Christ and Him alone?
  7. 1 John1:8. “ if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves” Despite your “ Strong Feelings”, you are chasing something that is impossible.Walking in faith is not easy but at least it is possible. If you think you will reach a state of perfection in this lifetime, please inform me of that event and then let me talk to your wife or best friend to get their opinion of your perfect life.
  8. Puts me in mind of those that followed Jesus until the free food was gone. That was the only reason they “ followed” Him.Where we these people be when the beer is gone and the party is over? The intentions may be good but the whole thing stinks.
  9. “ Abraham BELIEVED God and it was COUNTED to him as righteousness” That’s the same as being “perfect”. Notice it does not say Abe was righteous. He was COUNTED as righteous. Big difference. Its no different from us.We believe the Gospel that saves. 1cor15:1-4 .It is God’s promise. We Believe our promise given to us by Jesus through His mouthpiece Paul, and God declares us perfect. No man can actually BE perfect in this sinful flesh so let’s get it God’s way—- FAITH. As Paul asked in his day...”did you get saved by keeping the Law or by believing?” Why trust keeping the Law now to keep you saved if obeying the Law was not the thing that GOT you saved? You finish the way you started....trusting God. The righteous shall LIVE by faith.Practice faith and God will put His Spirit in you and you will FIND yourself doing the things that please God without trying so hard, worrying that if you slip up He will cast you into Hell.Grace will cover all your sins Heavenly speaking, but you will be chastised on this Earth as part of God’s way to mold you and transform you into the image of His Son, which is the sole purpose of this life.Believe the Gospel, don’t curse yourself by adding to it and relax a little.God bless.I will be praying for your understanding of these things.
  10. To repent means to see you are a sinner that needs a Savior. The first half of Paul’s Gospel deals with that—- “Christ died for our sins”.That realization is the repentance God demands. You can’t be saved without it.You indeed will perish, as you say.The second half of the Gospel in 1 cor15:1-4 declares Jesus died and rose from the dead.Simply believe both halves of the Gospel and you are saved. If you try to add your works to what Christ alone accomplished at the cross ,you are perverting the Gospel and Christ’s death is of no benefit to you.You are accursed.Paul said it, not me.If and when you truly believe Christ died for ALL your sins, you will abandon your works and rest. When, not if, you sin, you will be sorry for it.That could be considered a type of repentance, but it is to maintain fellowship and peace with God.You can experience that type of repentance every day.The repentance that showed you that you ain’t as good as you think you are and you need a Savior is a one time event that stays with you.You could call it humility.
  11. Mixing works with grace cancels grace.it also adds to Paul’s Gospel thAt saves if merely BELIEVED.You are on dangerous ground.Your Gospel is accursed.
  12. Please contact me , those out there who think they do not sin anymore .If you think you have conquered the sins of COMMISION, we will be ready to see if we can do the same with James’ sins of OMMISION......I have yet to meet a legalists that wants to discuss those.
  13. Succinct and brilliant.....You took the words right out of my mouth.......for that I am envious and angry. Thank God, those sins are covered by God’s Grace. I take God’s Grace as a license—— a license to rest in His finished work.If you ain’t resting , you must be working——you are in jeopardy of living an accursed doctrine. The Bible can be a very dangerous Book if you do not strive to be a rightly dividing student.Faith plus nothing.
  14. Peter was just a man.He sinned every hour of every day.He needed grace just like you and I .He sinned greatly when he stopped eating with gentiles when the legalists showed up.He knew better. If we make sinning or not to be the criteria the standard is perfection. That ain’t gonna happen.Peter knew the problem and he knew the solution. Faith in the One that GAVE us HIS perfection. Believe in the Gospel of Grace found in 1cor15:1-4 and you will be GIVEN all that stuff people think we have to work for.God bless.
  15. Paul was a vastly different person......so am I as far as that goes.Paul referred to himself as “ chief of sinners” many years after he was saved. He wrote chapter 7 of Romans after he was saved—-I heard one preacher say Paul had been saved for ten years when he wrote this, I heard another say it may have been thirty years. The point is the closer you get to God, the farther away one sees himself.True repentance is a life-long state of mind......google Harry Ironsides writings in regard to repentance for a better understanding— IF you truly want to learn. God bless
  16. In my area , almost everything given to the homeless is taken to the other side of town where it is exchanged for drugs......be careful where your money goes
  17. Thanks for the the great post.......lots of wisdom on display
  18. I heard a preacher say that there are ten types of baptism mentioned in the Bible.Five of those are dry.Paul said that there is “ one baptism”. That baptism is the immersion of one into The Body Of Christ—- that is the baptism that counts for salvation .Water baptism is a picture of that essential.Made sense to me.
  19. If my daughter gets caught with her hand in the cookie jar, I will let her off the first time .I will warn her not to do it again. If she does it again she will be punished. It is up to her at all times . She will commit other sins down the road-she is human, after all.Same principles apply to the adulteress. She got a warning for the one specific sin.Paul was “ chief of sinners” many year after he was saved. Was this woman or us expected to do better than he did?
  20. One can go to Zola Levitt’s website and order the book about the Jewish Wedding and how it is a picture of our Salvation..... a fascinating read. While you are there, watch his “ Go tell it on the Mountain” series. It will bless you.
  21. “It’s the heighth of ignorance”......Big Foot
  22. Sickening......makes me glad there is a Hell for those that pedal false gospels.
  23. Sorry, but your first sentence is unclear and your second sentence about being no levels of right is silly unless you can equate listening to a guitar solo to killing Jews simply because they are Jews. There will be degrees of punishment in Hell just as sure as there will be superior and inferior rewards in Heaven. It’s that “ many stripes” thingy found in Luke12:47.
  24. I could not agree more.I regret now that I did not add my thought about the Book of James to my recommendation of the Book Of Romans .I sincerely believe the Book Of James is the LAST place an unbeliever should find themselves .Its always been the go-to Book for legalists, trotting out “ Faith without works is dead “ to negate everything Paul ever wrote.James is referring to Service—not Salvation.James is a great book , but we go to Paul, the Apostle sent to the gentiles, not James for our Doctrine. There are those that have been serious Bible students for many years that struggle with the writings of James and what sometimes looks like contradictions to the writings of Paul. The unbeliever needs to see the clear gospel and accept it with a heart that has softened by The Holy Spirit. There will be plenty of time in the future, hopefully for a babe in Christ to mature to the point that they handle what James penned. I also think the Book Of Matthew, with the Sermon on the Mound that raises the bar for those that think they dont need a Savior ( if you even “look” at somebody with lustful thoughts you are no better than an adulterer!) is a good place to start reading the Bible. No sense fooling around.Nobody has the desire to be saved until they see that they are lost.THAT is the starting point of true Christianity as opposed to adopting Christianity as your choice of religion among many others because you think you agree with its morality and by following its rules you can make it to Heaven.
