What drives people away from Jesus? Preachers that portray Jesus as a Cosmic Killjoy eager to beat you up if you make the slightest mistake—- kinda like a real mean cop watching you every second.

I don’t think there is anything new under the sun..... better dirt bikes than booze,pot,acid,cocaine,meaningless sex and atheism that were my priorities in my misspent youth....kids need our prayers....somebody somewhere surely prayed for me

Great post!......isn’t it great to observe the True Sabbath? What an easy yoke to live when we rest in His finished work...I pray all participants here discover it.

And even if we today, as saved children ? of His, compare our best against His Perfection, we still fall woefully short in comparison It has has been said that the closer we get to God the farther away we see ourselves

When I get to Heaven I am going to look for Paul......He claimed to be “chief of sinners”.....I will have to ask him to step aside.....he was unaware of me....

God says.....”turn to me and I will turn to you”...... it seems that you are headed in the right direction.....you can learn much here.....the wisdom displayed here is more than I ever found in a brick and mortar church.... ” where two or more are gathered in My Name.....I am with you”. I don’t know how much clearer I can be.I paid many compliments to the Law in my post.A saved person who strives to uphold the law is wise.Those that say The Law is holy , just , and good are right on the money.Trying to keep the Law “ because” you are saved as opposed to trying to obey it to “ stay” saved is a worthy thing.I will never attack anybody that is trying to obey the Law , if he is saved and doing it out of love for God or just by seeing the wisdom of it.Let me try to make myself clear one more time. I HATE sin! Obedience is GREAT! The Law is a gift from God and we are wise to try to obey it.The Law is GREAT!!!!! it just does not save. ,

I got something better than the Law.....it’s called the Holy Spirit. The law has done its job in my life. It convicted me of my sin and lead me to the one who bore my sins and forgave me. As Luther said “ let the Jews have the Law”. The Law is God’s instruction manual for humans to show them how to be a moral, Happy and successful person.The wiser you are the more you will look to it for guidance.Obedience to the Law is vital if you want to have a good life.It is not meant to be instructions to be deprived of a fun carnal life given to us by the great Cosmic Killjoy.The Natural Man does not realize every single command given by God was for our own good.We should strive to keep the Law because We are the beneficiaries when we do.The Law is the pinnacle of wisdom......it just doesn’t save.Faith plus nothing saves.....The Law is there to show you that you can’t keep it.It shows us we are sinners who need a Saviour.I hope you can say to the Law...” Mission Accomplished”.To put it perhaps a little crudely—— take your old Law to God’s car lot and trade it in on a shiny , new Holy Spirit.Its The only thing that will make the trip home..... a much smoother ride and the reliability is beyond reproach.

Here is my big theory.....take it with a HUGE grain of salt.....lol I think God probably works by the Jewish Lunar Calendar....not ours.If this is the year 5778, that would leave 222 years before the year 6000.If one holds the view that mans story will be played out in 7000 years from beginning to end( seems like something God might do- he’s always been big on the number seven) , allowing for the last 1000 years to be the Millenium,we would have 222 years before that time.Subtract from that the 7 years for the Tribulation we have 215 years before a pre-trib rapture.Therefore, I can state unequivocally that the Rapture will occur in the year 2233. Haha.....hey it’s as good as anything else out there.lol

Please, can we dispense of the television stuff ? I was only using it as a ludicrous example.....I just as easily could have said “bathing cats” Some claim Paul was talking to non- Believers about the long list that included adultery. That could be the case.If true , not a problem for you or myself. Others say he was talking to Believers. Paul said if we believe his Gospel we WILL be saved.Figuring that to be true, God will see to it that you are not an adulterer or Christ’s Blood will cover it if you are.Lets hope for the latter because you and I both are adulterers in our hearts, aren’t we? Simple Jeff is too—— I wouldn’t want to leave anybody out!

Faith in the Blood of Jesus is the only thing that saves us or keeps us saved.Giving up television, refraining from adultery or anything else we choose for our example will not save us or keep us saved.If one adds to the Gospel He is perverting it and is a legalists ,or judaizer if you prefer.Keeping any Law to be saved or keeping any law to stay saved is legalism......we obey out of love and gratitude.Obedience is great and should always be stressed as pleasing to God.It is the only way to have the “ abundant life” of which Jesus spoke.Obedience blesses us—— it does not save us.David found out the hard way the stupidity of adultery.God punished him severely.That is one sin he never repeated.His abandonment of that sin did not save him or keep him saved.His faith did.Faith plus nothing.

If I decide it is sinful to watch television , that of course is my business......if I tell others they must not watch tv in order to be saved or give it up to stay saved —— thAt is where one has become a Judaizer ( legalists)

Paul said we are not to judge the world......we “ are” reguired to judge Fellow Be ievers.

For what it’s worth.......long , long time ago I remember J.Vernon McGee opining on this.He said God hated Esau because in his lineage was Herod the Great who slaughtered the children under the age of two in Bethlehem.....interesting, if nothing else......

I fought depression for five long years,almost committed suicide.....I was a walking zombie with no hope. I eased into depression very slowly, but I was delivered in an instant.NEVER give up!! We don’t always like God’s timing nor do we understand it.Trust God to get you through this valley.Prayers from others can work wonders.I am living proof. Remember this! NEVER GIVE UP !!!!

It should not go unmentioned......As the Russians moved increasingly closer to Berlin they gave an entirely true meaning to “rape, ravage and plunder”....they were the epitome of ensuring “what goes around comes around.... Anybody that does not believe that God curses those that curse Israel .....The Zola Levitt Program just recently did a little follow-up to all those throughout history that have attacked the Jews......Egyptians... Assyrians.....Babylonians.....Romans......the list goes on.All these foes were eventually destroyed.Current and future enemies can expect the same.One best not screw around with Israel.God is their Protector.

I think that if one is unsure of their salvation they do not understand what saved them in the first place.Christ shedding His Blood for You was what saved you and keeps you saved.Dedication to the faith is paramount,dedication to “being good” or confessing sins did not save you nor will it keep you saved.They are good things in their proper place.Paul said if you believe his Gospel given to him by Jesus you are saved.The only way to lose your salvation is Jesus going back in time and coming down from the Cross before His work was finished.One needs to keep his eyes on Christ’s performance, not our own.

One chapter where man gets any glory........”heroes of faith”....... I noticed there is no chapter in the Bible about heroes of commandment keepers......can we take away anything from that I wonder?

I think the life of any true Believer will show fruit over time.....there will be ups and downs but the overall trend should be a change for the better.......the New Man in the saved individual is internal and will be revealed on the outside as good works that come natural....any change brought about by brow- beating won’t count for anything..it is all God’s handiwork......without Him, “we can do NOTHING “

When it comes to sin ,you are a mere rookie.Have you ever killed somebody so you could commit adultery? You ever kill men women and children because their new- found religion you didn’t particularly care for? Just the fact you know and admit you are a sinner puts you miles ahead of most people...”Christians” included. intellectual agreement that you are a sinner will not get you far though.If you are blessed enough to be convicted by The Holy Spirit and get to the point where in anguish you are able to cry out “ God, have mercy on me a sinner” God will have mercy on you and see that you are saved.Work out your salvation with fear and trembling..

Belief in Gods promises is what saves.....the demons decided to believe Satan .....the rest is history...

Lack of faith in the only “ good “ One keeps people out.God credits you with the goodness of His Son if you believe the Gospel.....we should thank God that He is not looking at my goodness or your goodness in regard to salvation....unless one insists on presenting their “ dirty menstrual rags” . I hope we have none of those here.
