  1. Serve Him, love Him with all your heart, and be a holy sacrifice to Him. Read 1 Corinthians 7 for Paul's relationship advice.
  2. Amen and Absolutely. I believe, and I'll continue to improve on my language usage because I love Him, just like how one would adjust, change, or improve themselves for another person out of love. Much more so for Christ.
  3. No, we're not supposed to use cuss/swear words, or any form of insult or offensive words or phrases that may not be cuss or swear rods or be generally accepted in society, including using the Lord's name in vain, or using Christian-related references in insults. I grew up learning profanity and insults, and I'd listen to rap music and rap along before I believed. So using such words has become a habit, and even now--twelve years after becoming a Christian--I still have problems cutting out profanity completely. But yes, the Bible reminds us to slow to anger and exercise patience even when we're angry or frustrated. It's a continuous improvement process for me.
  4. I'm not too familiar with the verse about Saul, but the explanation seems out of context. He created us perfect and has given us free will to choose to love Him or sin. Sinning is a conscious act. Like how Satan entered Judas, or how we're tempted to sin, we can still make the choice no to sin. He didn't cause sin nor is He the author of sin. He can use anything, including Satan and evil spirits, to test our faith and obedience, though, like what happened to Job.
  5. I'll pray for your situation, and hope you also pray about it, too. Don't marry someone just because she wants to stay in the country. I won't repeat the above comments about uneven yokes, etc., but remember that God has a perfect plan for each one of us, and it'll be revealed in His time according to His will. So pray hard and follow His teachings and guidance.
  6. Rest in Him, enjoy Him, trust Him. That's how I interpret "abide in Me." In turn, He will do the same even if we don't abide in Him because He has already made the decision and commitment.
  7. I'm not a phone person. I don't like calling others or receiving calls. I'd even seldom call up brothers in my cell group for prayers and followups. for some reason, I find phone calls intruding, and they interrupt my tasks since I'd need to stop everything and talk on the phone. However, I text exclusively and constantly. With text messaging, I would send or reply a text quickly and continue on with my task. And, if needed be, I'd discuss deep issues in person.
  8. We are not supposed to sin when we are born-again, a.k.a. accepted Christ. That's why Christ died for our sins, and our past sins are being cleansed and be remembered no more. Christ doesn't need to die for us believers if we sinned or stumbled because we would just repent and make the decision to turn to him and love Him. We as believers would no longer sin ignorantly--choosing to sin or disobey Him.
  9. To me, forgive and trust are two different things. Trust must be gained over time even after you've forgave someone because the scars aren't fully healed. Forgiving someone for whatever they've done means you're no longer angry or affected by the incident, as in let it become history and not remembering it anymore. but trust is to know that you own't be harm by that person again.
  10. There are signs and trends, but not the exact date. I don't want to talk about this too much as the original poster has started many topics regarding this and other controversial topics or assumptions already.
  11. I know it's tempting. Just don't buy them again. What He can give to us is far greater and more valuable than money can buy. If you do win it, however, hope He will give you wisdom in how to spend the money.
  12. Respect their criticism about you, but also read the Bible and/or talk to Jesus about this. Jesus commands us to honor our parents, but He also wants us to "hate" our parents and follow Him. ("Hate" means to love God above all things, not to literally hate our parents). Our parents love us, but God is more capable and is above all, as He is our eternal Father.
  13. Yes, it's either Earth, heaven, or hell. Indulgences were/are a cunning way for the Catholic church to raise funds and finance for new cathedrals, etc. by deceiving believers that their loved ones would be better off, etc. I need to explain to my Catholic friend about the myth on purgatory and the truth about salvation, one-time sin sacrifice, repentance vs. confession, etc. It's sad how so many people are being deceived by the wrong teachings.
  14. It partly depends on how the church is structured. The Bible says we are all members of the body with Christ as the head, and we are to love, edify, and care for one another because we belong to the same eternal family. Some churches only have short worship and sermon and then maybe snack time, and those who are already close would talk, leaving others in an awkward position. People at the church I go to are very close. We make sure no one is left behind, and we often serve in groups. I'm a shy and reserved person, but someone would talk to me regardless. To me, no Christian should be lonely, even though they may not have a spouse or family (like me). Even the disciples were seldom be alone until later in their ministries. It's difficult to be close to anyone if the meeting place doesn't emphasize family and togetherness.
