bittersweet

Sometimes it takes a lot of effort for me to just trust and stay broken.

I used to feel bad about myself all the time for the same kind of reasons. Praising God and trying to think right thoughts just didn't work for long. My only hope turned out to be letting it go--God either loved me or He didn't and I can believe He wants me and takes care of me and my sins now that I have asked Him to. I just don't have the strength.

I find it all very frightening.

I stumbled onto this conversation by accident. I have been reading many books by all sorts of authors about NDEs. Many non-Christians claim to see and experience heaven-like feelings and images. Their descriptions are more vivid than many Christian accounts. It's so confusing to me. I know that Jesus is the only way, but is God gracious to those who don't know Him by showing them this? Or maybe some people know Him but just don't consider themselves regular Christians?

I was confused about what happens right after death so a year or so ago I got a bunch of books about near death experiences. Now I am more confused.
