    psalm 91

To me, Psalm 91 is a promise from the Lord for my protection in every and any way of my life. That also includes my family and people whom I care for, in which I pray all the time. Psalm 91 also has a connotation that implies certain events that had happened or going to happen. "The arrow that flies by day, the pestilence that stalks in the darkness and the plague that destroys at midday" appear to be missiles attack and bioweapons. Then "the deadly pestilence" refers to diseases that plagued people worldwide. I think whatever disasters that had already happened or happening, and those which will be happening would have been covered in this Psalm.
  2. When I saw the title and reading through the 2 pages of comments being shared, I can't help but went to search for the definition of the word "conscience" to see what it exactly meant. Therefore, looking at the dictionary, I found the meaning of conscience is having a moral sense of right and wrong, viewed as acting as a guide to one's behaviour. I am a very simple person who likes clear ideas and thoughts. Just like Jesus when He was on earth, His speech, actions and behaviour are very simple and precise for anyone to hear and follow. I feel that most people may know what moral sense means, but in actuality, it may not be practiced. Since the fall of Adam and Eve, the world has been so heavily corrupted that many people have lost themselves, their body, mind and soul to the Satan. For those who are found by the Lord, thank God, we are saved by His blood and the Holy Spirit begins to work inside us. With His blessings, we are able to bless those around us. While living in this mortal body, the sin of the flesh is tempted with lusts and desires. That's why the devil is constantly seeking whom he may devour. For the people of the world, he has no problem with them, but for God's people, he needs to work extra hard. As to the question of the OP, there are so many people we encounter, directly or indirectly, that we may not agree with (sometimes) - what they say or do - but truly, we should also search our own hearts, are we any better than them? I was reading the story of the woman who committed adultery, when she was brought to Jesus, I was thinking, "Where is the man? How did she have a (sexual/intimate/adulterous) relationship without another, in which her case was a man?" When I look at conscience, I think we can also pair it with hypocrisy which can be further rooted down to self-righteousness. As the story above, Jesus said to the woman, "Neither do I condemn you, go, and sin no more." There was no word of repute, no condemnation, but just a word of forgiveness, and then a clear instruction on how she should lead her life. Isn't Jesus so cool? (How wonderful is our Lord!) If Jesus can forgive us who are full of sins, why can't we forgive our brethren, who are also like us, full of sins? So, let's not condemn (and judge) our brothers and sisters in-Christ. We can help to pull them out of the pit if they fall. As the Lord tells us, "Love one another, as I have loved you." In reality, it is true that there are a lot immorality that we see and even encounter - like the seven deadly sins that many people are familiar with - we should depend on the Lord to guide us so that we will not be led astray. The Bible may not specifically describe each set of the seven sins, but it teaches us that such sins are the works of the flesh and those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God (Galatians 5:19-21). Therefore, we need to pray for those who have fallen, regardless who they are - a family member, a friend, a church minister, or even our nation's leader - for their salvation. Blessings to all!
  3. I agree with all mentioned. Keep things simple. When Jesus was on earth, He went around healing the sick, casting out demons, performing miracles and preaching the Word. Everything was simple. When He was ministering to the people (tax collectors, the lame, harlots, the poor, the sick, and many others) whom in those days were considered as outcast, all of them understood Him. Those people were not highly educated scholars or philosophers, or ones who had high social status; unlike the pharisees who presumably who held high stature in knowledge of theology and understood the Torah back-to-back did not understood and rejected the Living God standing in front of them. Jesus's teaching is always simple and clear. Look at the parables illustrated in the Bible for instance, they get clearer and fresher each time I read them. I really like how the Lord always give simple instruction. Whether if it is for children or grown-ups or anyone, His Word is always clear and precise. It is us who are the ones that make it complicated by our own assumption and misinterpretation that result in the distortion in the teaching of the Bible. As we read His Word, be still and let the Holy Spirit minister to us. I like it this way.
  4. We are not God. If we are Him, we would behave like Him. Can I ask if anyone is willing to die for me, for the people of the world? I don't need to think as I have already known the answer is a big "NO." Of course not, which human being is willing to give up his/her life for me or you, or anybody else? Perhaps he or she may sacrifice for the sake of his/her very precious ones like children. But just to die for their sins, perhaps not huh? Every Christian has varying level of understanding, revelation and relationship with God and His Word. It is like, for instance, all of us have different degree of threshold in responding to pain. Some people scream out loud when a needle pokes them during injection, while some are able to endure a deep cut that requires medical emergency due to severe bleeding and not cough a word of pain. We cannot and unable to expect another person to be exactly how we want them to be. Nobody can change anyone or anything except God. What we can do is help our brothers and sisters in Christ when they are down, and face with life problems by offering our shoulder to cry on, a listening ear and prayers to uplift their spirit. Like our Lord says, "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." John 13:34-35 Blessings to everyone!
  5. I agree with you. We never stop growing spiritually. Even our body and mental state of mind change because we have Jesus, and the Holy Spirit will always be our guide in whatever we do. We only need to be still, and know that He is there, inside us, and being with us. As we are fortunate that the Lord found us, I did come across people who did "reject" God even when they heard it multiple times. It was a friend who accepted Christ and her husband got angry because of that. They were retirees and had grown up children. My friend went to church upon an invitation from another friend. After she became Christian, she invited her husband to come to church with her, which he reluctantly agreed. He attended a few times but refused to accept. No matter what his wife said, he would give a negative comment about it. Eventually my friend stopped mentioning but only depending on prayers in hope of having the Lord to change her husband. I guess as someone of this age (as stated above), I would think it is not ignorance or innocent like children who could not comprehend fully but purely a rejection which I suppose fit into what the poll says.
  6. I started going to Sunday School when I was small, around 3 years old. To a little child, Sunday School is like another preschool playground. I enjoyed the singing and listening to Bible stories, however I do not think a child of that age would understand about salvation though from the teachers, I knew that Jesus loves me. We always sang "Jesus Loves Me, This I Know" and so, every child knows that Jesus loves them. Though I might have been exposed to Christianity at a young age, a child does not comprehend the concept of God and salvation. However the teaching of the Bible laid a good foundation for my later life as a Christian. The wording of rejection does not sit right here, I wouldn't think I was rejecting the Lord when I heard about Him when I was a child. It was only when I grew older that I began to understand about the Lord and the gospel better in which I then finally gave my life to Him when I was 12. Being a twelve-year old, it does not mean that I fully understand everything about God and His Word. It is through regular listening to His Word - attending church and bible study - and meditating on it daily that I gradually get to know the Lord better. Blessings to all!
