  1. We are told that Abraham was justified WHEN he offered his son. However, this was not the first time he was justified. JLB
  2. The scripture tells us, what exactly Abraham obeyed, by which he was justified, so we don’t have to assume anything. Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? James 2:21 justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Abraham was justified when he obeyed God to offer his son Isaac on the altar. By the way, Abraham did obey God’s voice, and His laws and commandments. because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.” Genesis 26:5 JLB
  3. Peace to you. I’m discussing scripture and the principle of faith. What is your point? JLB
  4. Did you read my post? But Abraham was justified by the work or action of obedience. The obedience of faith. Justification by faith requires obedience as well, in which repentance is required. Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? James 2:21 Not the works of the law Not good works Not work that earns a wage But Abraham was justified by the work or action of obedience. The obedience of faith. But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: Romans 16:26 Those who who do not obey the Gospel will not be saved. 5. Faith must have the “work” of obedience in order to activate it, otherwise “faith alone” all by itself is dead, and incomplete. Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? James 2:21-22 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? JLB
  6. C = The Christian “fish” symbol used in the first century. JLB
  7. The Bible defines many of the important words in the Bible by context. Probably one of the most misused and most misunderstood words in the Bible is the word faith. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 Two more very important scriptures about faith - But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him again But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin. Romans 14:23 for whatever is not from faith is sin. The lexicons and Hebrew/Greek dictionary’s are a good place to start, however when the Bible defines for us the meaning of a word we need to keep that meaning as a foundation, and the man made meaning from the lexicons as a secondary meaning if it doesn’t violate the definition the scripture gives. Then, just as important, the scripture also defines the principle by which faith operates to produce the intended divine result, as well. Once people begin to understand this word, and the “law” or principle by which faith functions or operates to produce the intended divine result, it will bring some clarity and unity to some of the major doctrinal divisions that reside within the body of Christ. 8. The Lord lift up His Countenance upon you and give you peace. God bless you, dear lady. JLB
  9. Can you show me where I said there was division in the Godhead? It could be said that a logical fallacy comes from a mind that is unrenewed. JLB
  10. The Father, The Son (Word), and the Spirit are The Godhead. These three are One. Not this One is Three. JLB
  11. Yes. Jesus is YHWH, The Lord. The name above all names! JLB
  12. The name the Godhead, Elohim has chosen to represent them is Jesus. The Name above all names. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; Colossians 2:9 JLB
  13. Faith plus nothing? How does that work? How does dead faith save or accomplish anything? Makes no sense. The woman’s faith moved her to action, which is what faith does. If there is no action, then faith remains dormant and inactive, or dead, being incomplete all by itself. Here please read the context and explain how you have come to the conclusion from the narrative, that this woman’s “faith alone”, accomplished the result Jesus described. Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.” And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.” Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.” Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” Then He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.” Luke 7:43-50 JLB
  14. Heaven and earth don’t need to pass away. The Point Jesus is making is nothing will pass from the UNTIL it has been fulfilled. “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Matthew 5:17-18 Did Jesus fulfill the law? JLB
  15. The Seed has come. Please read what the scripture says. What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. Galatians 3:19 The law was added UNTIL...the Seed should come. The Seed has come. The Seed to whom the promise was made has come. Jesus Christ is the Seed to whom the promise was made. The He law was added UNTIL the Seed has come. “UNTIL” indicates that which was added was temporary, being added UNTIL theSeed should come. Jesus Himself also used this word UNTIL when He said these words about the law. - one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Matthew 5:17-18 Jesus fulfilled the law. The law has been abolished, because it’s purpose has been fulfilled. JLB
  16. Yes and He has abolished it in His flesh. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, Ephesians 2:14-15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances What purpose then does the law serve? What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. Galatians 3:19 Has the Messiah, the promised Seed come? Yes, and therefore the law that was added, has been taken out of the way. It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come By saying until, the Holy Spirit is indicating the law was temporary. JLB
  17. And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Colossians 2:13-17 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. JLB
  18. I take it, by this post you don’t believe we as the Church are required to observe the Sabbath? JLB
  19. The law of Moses has been abolished in His flesh, having been fulfilled. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, Ephesians 2:14-15 JLB
  20. What most Hebrew roots folks don’t understand or won’t admit, is the thing that separated the Jew from the Gentile was the law of Moses. The one new man, has been made because He Himself abolished it in His flesh, having nailed it to the cross. Therefore there is now peace between the two, for those who are in Christ Jesus. - having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, Ephesians 2:14-15 JLB
  21. Can you show me where He instructed His disciples by example to observe the Sabbath? JLB
  22. Yes. Jesus fulfilled the law. “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Matthew 5:17-18 - one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Nothing will pass from the law TILL all is fulfilled. Since He has fulfilled the law, the law of commandments contained in ordinances has been abolished. - having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, Ephesians 2:14-15 Now, we don’t observe the Sabbath as it was during the time of the law of Moses, as the children of Israel were obligated to do.
