    3 Questions

1 Timothy 6:3-6 If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. Titus 2:3: Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored. Likewise urge the young men to be sensible; in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us. 2 Timothy 2:5-17 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. But avoid worldly and empty chatter, for it will lead to further ungodliness, and their talk will spread like gangrene. Titus 3:9 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and strife and disputes about the Law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. -Pv-

    New Christian

Nova, I also live in the Seattle area and the discipline you have adopted to avoid social media is a good one. I only see envy and destruction in the popular text chats. It's better for all of us to be built up by practicing what God has commanded than tear other people down in a competition to be the most popular. Matthew 19:30 But many who are first will be last; and the last, first. -Pv-

Leviticus 19:15: "You shall do no injustice in judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor nor defer to the great, but you are to judge your neighbor fairly. You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people, and you are not to act against the life of your neighbor; I am the Lord. ‘You shall not hate your fellow countryman in your heart; you may surely reprove your neighbor, but shall not incur sin because of him. You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the Lord." Philipians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. -Pv-

    First Post

This is my first post on this service as I discovered how things work here. I've been a believer since 1974 and I'm 66 years old. MY faith grounding is characterized by what I call Historical Orthodoxy. Some of you may know what that is if you've studied the great 20th century Christian writers. As far as church experience, I've been in music ministry for many years and traveled in many countries and faiths so call myself a methapresbababtacostle. I have no trouble defending the Gospel in an apologetic environment. I know we are living in both free and tyrannical times where boldness is needed from the church to curb the destruction of the lawless. -Pv-

Hi Elijah, 11 years is a very long time to be homeless and I expect you suffered greatly during this time. When you are able, post your story here so as many people as possible can understand and learn from your experience. -Pv-
