  1. Thanks for that info and it's pretty much what i expected was the case. But unfortunately most people such as my stepdad will NOT listen to or acknowledge any kind of evidence or logic that in any way is contrary to what they are convinced of. He has provided some evidence but that can't be corroborated or proven legit, other than a few maybe? But for some people all it takes are a few isolated instances of something and they will use it to promote their own infallible ideals or ways of thinking such as this. Some people simply will NEVER change, period.
  2. Well I do appreciate that even more than a one sentence reply(lol)…because to be honest I feel like this whole subject is really worth about that many words. My own feelings are that it was a conflict that never needed to happen but since the South was so Hell bent on preserving there own false ideals then it simply became another war that God allowed to happen, period. But BOTH sides had some major flaws and Im not defending at all the North/Federals treatment of Native Americans. And I might even agree that slavery was all a part of Gods plan to bring African Americans here, even as horrible as conditions were on those slave ships…but it is kind of funny how I have never heard pro-South advocates ever bring this up, guess maybe they just never needed any reason to justify slavery other than for money and the economy??
  3. That doesn’t even make any sense because all I’m doing is asking a question, not trying to rouse anyone up or imply this nation should be anything other than what it was after the Union won the war, even though it could be a whole lot better NOW obviously! Now if anyone wants to bring up which side God was on then that’s a whole nother topic, which would involve trying to explain why the side He was “allegedly” on ended up losing?
  4. I am asking about this primarily due to a family member who whole-heartedly backs the Confederacy and there cause during the war, and has shown me very old clippings and/or articles from that time period about Negro/African Americans who supported and even fought on the Confederate side. So to have access to such information i can only assume this wasnt just a very select few individuals or cases that no one has ever heard of, since this person is not at all the type who would really even take the time to research such things even if he did know how to do a basic internet search. But he does have a lot of friends like that which is likely where he first learned of this and similar subjects. Either way i'm still not 100% convinced this was as widespread as he would have you to believe as far as former slaves fighting for this cause? I do know there were some slaves who were actually treated very well by there masters but still not sure this was as common as some have portrayed it, and a lot of it could in fact just be propaganda spread by Confederate sympathizers, but i'm no historian so maybe someone else here could shed some light on this?
  5. Yes I definitely agree it was/is ALL about Him and so I can easily see why someone would conclude that Daniel 9:27 is about the crucifixion ending the sacrifices. I guess the main problem I have with it is that the abomination is centered in and around the temple area the same way it was when Antiochus IV sacrificed a pig on the altar, and the same way the “man of sin” will sit in the temple proclaiming to be God(2-Thess.2:4) Also it never alludes to in any way that Christ ever confirmed the covenant for 7 years, and in fact the actual time of His ministry has been debated even though I’m pretty certain it was about 1260 days give or take. It would make sense if you put His actual birth date in late September(which can be proved) and the crucifixion in late march or in April, so those extra 6 months added to 3 year ministry. But either way I suppose this is one of those topics that will always be debated and it doesn’t seem like anyone is really open to changing there opinions about it. I do try to be open minded but at the same time I have to go with whatever makes the most sense to me, period. But like I always try to point out is that the only thing that really matters is the time period yet to come and to be prepared for that worldwide deception…unless you believe in a pretrib snatching away then obviously you wouldn’t be all too worried about it.
  6. Well I’m not sure exactly what the AOD was or will be but I just can’t see it being the Cross itself or crucifixion? In Isaiah-53:8 it says “for He was CUT OFF out of the land of the living:for the transgression of my people was He stricken.” And in verse 10…”Yet it PLEASED the Lord to bruise him…” Now however you want to interpret that it just doesn’t sound to me like this was an “abomination” in the eyes of God/YHVH? And if you do go way back to the reign of Antiochus when he set up that AOD in the temple it was an actual physical desecration which was a mocking of the Jews daily sacrifice. But the crucifixion was anything but that, rather it was a triumph over the daily sacrifice, but still not enough to cause the Jews to cease from that practice. And even though I don’t always agree with mainstream teachings on Bible prophecy this is one point I do agree on, as far as a literal Antichrist figure bringing to pass that future prophecy in Daniel-9:27. Anyway that’s just what I have to believe and guess we would just have to agree to disagree on this?
  7. Well I can agree with a lot of what you said but as for the rest I really cannot say? But I was just curious if you or anyone else reading this has ever heard of the so-called “teaching” taken from Revelation-9:5 about the 5 month period being what the last 42 months has been shortened to, according to what Christ declared in Matthew-24:22. Either way i do believe those 1260 days will be shortened somewhat but how much I am just not either arrogant enough or enlightened enough(as some may be?) to really say for sure. But since I don’t at all believe in any kind of “rapture” event I would hope that last half of the final “week” would not be that long….but that is still yet to be seen?
  8. No problem with the long response, but I was kind of even expecting this discussion was about over especially from your last comment to Dougg, but that’s really none of my business. But one thing I have to point out is what that great author(John) of Revelation pointed out in 1st John-2:18-23, which anyone can look up. But also in 2nd Thess.-2:4, which pretty much confirms(no pun intended) the coming of the “lawless one”, I won’t refer to him in that other term since obviously some here still dont believe he is anything other than some “mythical” figure. But I do believe any one man with that much power would most likely also be mentioned somewhere in the OT, in my opinion. Now regardless of what those verses in Daniel are saying I do believe that what Daniel 12:7 is saying can onl be interpreted for what it is very clearly saying…that there WILL be a final 3 1/2 years where this anti-Christ figure WILL be present…period. Anyway that is really all that matters in regards to this subject and if anyone wants to keep going back in time to what might have happened even back when Antiochus or whoever was in power then so be it, but to me that only confuses further what is for this present day and age and what we are looking for to come to pass in the FUTURE and not what has already past. Because obviously not everyone agrees on those things but what is to come very SOON is not open to discussion but only to awaiting for it to occur, period.
  9. I realize this is kind of a worn out discussion but just thought i would add one more thing in case it hasnt yet been brought up in much detail. The Hebrew word for "cut off" literally does mean that but also was translated as "covenant" in other places. So then i'm not sure if there is a definite connection between verses 26 and 27 or if its just a strange coincidence? In other words you could say that when Anti-Christ confirms the covenant/cutting off of Messiah, it is basically an agreement that the original Abrahamic covenant was/is God's true plan for Israel and the Orthodox Jews will then become a major sect in the Beast system along with all other religions of course. Otherwise the majority of Jews would immediately reject Anti-Christ when he exalts himself even higher than God(Daniel-11:36-37) so there must be some kind of treaty made that will at least initially bring them to his side. But the Messianic Jews in Israel will not be deceived when all is finally said and done.
  10. For in as many days as this world was made, in so many thousand years shall it be concluded. And for this reason the scripture says, "thus the heaven and the earth were finished, and all their adornment. And God brought to a conclusion upon the 6th day the works that he had made, and God rested upon the 7th day from all his works", Genesis 2:2. This is an account of the things formerly created, as also it is a prophecy of what is to come. For the day of the Master is as a 1,000 years, 2 Peter 3:8. And in 6 days created things were completed. It is evident, therefore, that they will come to an end at the 6,000th year.Irenaeus, Against Heresies, Book 5, Chapter 28Note: This is merely a reference to an external literature to help strengthen the statements made in this study, and not an endorsement of any other statements made by Irenaeus. Since, then, in six days God made all things, it follows that 6,000 years must be fulfilled.Fragments from the Scriptural Commentaries of Hippolytus, Second Fragment of the Visions, 4Note: This is merely a reference to an external literature to help strengthen the statements made in this study, and not an endorsement of any other statements made by Hippolytus. In relation to the discussion on the calculation of years, the Gemara states that one of the Sages of the school of Elijah taught: The world is destined to exist for 6,000 years.Babylonian Talmud Avodah Zarah 9a, 5Note: This is merely a reference to an external literature to help strengthen the statements made in this study, and not an endorsement of any other statements made in the Talmud. The world is decreed to last for 6,000 years, as the days of the week. The 7th day of the week is shabbath, so too in the 7th millennium, will there be tranquility in the world.Rabbi Rashi Comment on Babylonian Talmud Avodah Zarah 9a, 5Note: This is merely a reference to an external literature to help strengthen the statements made in this study, and not an endorsement of any other statements made by Rabbi Rashi. The set-apart one, blessed be he, created 7 aeons, and of them all he chose the 7th aeon only. The 6 aeons are for the going in and coming out, for war and peace. The 7th aeon is entirely Shabbath and rest in the aeonial life. The set-apart one, blessed be he, created 7 days, and of them all he chose the 7th day only, as it is said, "and God blessed the 7th day, and set it apart".Midrash by Pirke De Rabbi EliezerNote: This is merely a reference to an external literature to help strengthen the statements made in this study, and not an endorsement of any other statements made in the Midrash. The 7th day, which is the shabbath, alludes to the world to come, “which will be wholly a shabbath and will bring rest for aeonial life.”Rabbi Ramban Commentary on Genesis 2:3Note: This is merely a reference to an external literature to help strengthen the statements made in this study, and not an endorsement of any other statements made by Rabbi Ramban. The great plan of redemption results in fully bringing back the world into God's favor. All that was lost by sin is restored. Not only man but the earth is redeemed, to be the aeonial abode of the obedient. For 6,000 years Satan has struggled to maintain possession of the earth. Now God's original purpose in its creation is accomplished. “The set-apart ones of the Most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom to the aeon, even unto the aeon of the aeons.” Daniel 7:18.Ellen G. Therefore let the philosophers, who enumerate thousands of aeons from the beginning of the world, know that the 6,000th year is not yet completed, and that when this number is completed the consummation must take place.Lactantius, Book of Divine Institutes, Book VII, Chapter 14Note: This is merely a reference to an external literature to help strengthen the statements made in this study, and not an endorsement of any other statements made by Lactantius. Each day of Creation alludes to a thousand years of our existence, and every little detail that occurred on these days will have its corresponding event happen at the proportionate time during its millennium.Vilna Gaon, Safra D'Tzniusa, Ch. 5Note: This is merely a reference to an external literature to help strengthen the statements made in this study, and not an endorsement of any other statements made by Vilna Gaon. The ancient and popular doctrine of the millennium was intimately connected with the second coming of the Mashiach. As the works of the creation had been finished in 6 days, their duration in their present state, according to a tradition which was attributed to the prophet Elijah, was fixed to 6,000 years. By the same analogy it was inferred, that this long period of labor and contention, which was now almost elapsed, would be succeeded by a joyful shabbath of a 1,000 years, and that the Mashiach, with the triumphant band of the set-apart ones and the elect who had escaped death, or who had been miraculously revived, would rule upon earth till the time appointed for the last and general resurrection.Edward Gibbon, The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, Volume 1 Chapter 15, Part 4Note: This is merely a reference to an external literature to help strengthen the statements made in this study, and not an endorsement of any other statements made by Edward Gibbon. We expect that truly set-apart day of the 7,000th thousand years, that shall come after those 6 days, or 6,000 thousand years of time, which, being finished, shall begin that set-apart rest for all true set-apart ones and for all those faithful believers in the resurrection of Yeshua HaMashiach.Gaudentius, Bishop of Brescia, the Christian Trumpet, Third Part, Chapter 4Note: This is merely a reference to an external literature to help strengthen the statements made in this study, and not an endorsement of any other statements made by Gaudentius. For in 6 days the Master made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the 7th day. Therefore the Master blessed the Shabbath day and set it apart.Exodus 20:11 Blessed and set-apart are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of the Mashiach and will rule with him for 1,000 years.Revelation 20:6 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. I will tear them to pieces! I will send them off, and no one will be left to rescue them. I will return again to my place, until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face, and in their distress earnestly seek me. “Come, let us return to the Master; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bandage us up. After 2 days he will revive us; on the 3rd day he will raise us up, that we may live before him. Let us know; let us press on to know the Master. As sure as the morning sun, he will appear. He will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”Hosea 5:14-6:3 https://www.wisdomofgod.us/messages/tevet-10-5997-yb-tevet-10-5784-am-december-21-2023-ad/ Well i do agree the end is very near, and that Christ was crucified around 28AD give or take, so 2,000 years later...?
  11. Maybe this has been mentioned already but was wondering about 2nd Peter-3:8 and is this something that we should take in a literal sense as it might seem to imply regarding the Millennial reign of Christ? In other words, will it also seem like only one DAY to those of us who are there with Christ/God?
  12. Was just wondering about this mainly due to what I have always heard about how anyone who kills themself is really a coward for taking the easy way out. But it seems to me that it would really take at least some level of courage to actually go through with it or on the flip side it could be someone who is so mentally unstable that they really don’t know what they are doing. Anyway I was just curious because I have actually had suicidal thoughts before but was definitely afraid of the consequences and where I might end up or WILL end up as many Christians believe.
  13. As far as New Testament goes there are only examples of Apostles and whoever else being sent out in pairs, with the only possible exception being John the Baptist. Luke-10:1-2 is one and even Paul at least had Luke as his scribe when he wasn’t with anyone else. But I am really only asking this because of what I feel may in fact be the kind of “calling” God has put on my life, but still not sure exactly what that might be?
