  1. Does anyone else ever reflect upon how love, peace and thankfulness go hand in hand? We have the peace of Christ in our hearts/lives, therefore we are able to extend love and forgiveness towards our neighbor, and even towards ourselves. Also, there is a thankfulness in the heart of one who is in Christ. Be thankful for what we have, even if it is little. There are always others who have it much worse. Look for the good things in our lives....seeing, walking, hearing....all blessings from the Lord. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Colossians 3:15
  2. Naomi, there is nothing wrong with pressing on to knowing Christ more (sanctification/walking with Christ). However, there are some here that are teaching that works alongside of Christ save, and that one can lose salvation when one sins.. That teaching is what Sonshine was warning you about. Please remember.... I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain. Galatians 2:21 Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Galatians 3:2-3
  3. I am not speaking of our human understanding of who Jesus is, or us knowing about Him intellectually when I talk of the foundation. The only foundation is Jesus Christ Himself....when the reality of Christ is in our hearts and lives, this is the most blessed thing. Upon Christ everything else is laid.
  4. Amen. We have the imputed righteousness of Christ. He took our sins and gives us His righteousness. This is the basis of our faith. Of course, the Christian life is a walk as we are being sanctified throughout our lifetime. We are not saying to stay in one place. However, we are warning do not throw away our foundation of our faith and Salvation....which is Christ alone!! Do not place our works in the place of Christ....works will not save.
  5. If your schedule allows, have you thought of some type of volunteering outside of your church?
  6. Thanks WordSword, the author covers all points very well.
  7. Last night on the news they showed a video of a cat chasing off a coyote from a backyard. The cat went after the coyote a couple of times. Funny thing...the owners of that home say it isn't even their cat! I guess he thinks it's his home!
  8. Thanks Thomas, for this interesting topic! I think it's wonderful that your church is welcoming refugees. Please keep us updated. I read many Muslim refugees are coming to Christ because in the refugee camps the native missionaries have visited them and they have responded to the love of Christ. Many lost their homes due to Isis and so are questioning their Muslim faith... something unheard of before.
  9. Good answers for you already by everyone. Just keep reading the Bible, especially the New Testament, and pray for understanding. If you come across difficult to understand verses, jot down the reference. Then you can look up the meaning in a couple of Bible commentaries. Also, I hope you have a good church....you can make a list of some of your questions on some verses, and ask your pastor about them.
  10. Forgive and go forward... don't let bitterness hold you back. The Bible says....The rain falls on the just and the unjust, but only the just shall praise Him.
  11. And I think it would be good to end the prayer in Jesus' name.
  12. Yes, many Muslims are nice, family people. Alot of them do not want to be under Sharia law either....just like us. Some do respond to Jesus as their personal Savior, although if they live in a Muslim country, they usually have to be a secret believer. Sometimes even their families might kill them or at least totally shun them. Some governments will imprison them. Other Muslims who have come to Christ sometimes are helped into another country where they will be safe. So we should remember to do what the Lord says....love our neighbor as ourselves and treat others how we want to be treated. Btw, many Muslims who are refugees are turning to Christ as they experience the love of Christ from native missionaries.
  13. Lovely song, East Sky! Please do post more as you are able.
  14. Beautiful, thanks for this devotional. Haven't heard of C.A. Coates, do you know anything about him? The old-time preachers are so good.
  15. Actually Carrey isn't that good of a painter...that is, it is rather a cartoonish, abstract painting. I mainly posted the link so people could be informed. Also, the tweets from the pro-lifers are interesting.
  16. My assurance....Christ alone. This is a good topic, maybe more will comment.
  17. Beautiful....thanks for sharing it!
  18. I'm sorry, too, that you are suffering so. Cast yourself on the Lord and know that He does love you and will help you through it all. Just rest in Him.
  19. I don't know why....I clicked the link just now and the article and the tweets from pro-lifers came up.
  20. Jim Carrey did a painting portraying a baby being aborted....he put the face of Alabama's governor on it and made a snide remark. However, it has backfired on him as his painting shows the horrible way of abortion. https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/jim-carrey-abortion-tweet-backfires.amp
  21. Don't worry about it...it was an honest mistake. What a wonderful bunch of ladies!! You are really blessed to be in that fellowship! Hope your husband is doing better!
  22. That is your personal opinion as well. Your opinion that they were saved. My opinion is that they weren't saved to begin with to live in open sin and claim they were in God's hand.
  23. PromisesPromises! You stated the above so beautifully, thank you! It seems almost like those that oppose Eternal Security do not feel the same as we do, about God's wonderful saving grace. That is, unless there is a threat of hell, it seems they would not walk with Jesus.
  24. Also, Dr. David Jeremiah is very good! He's on YouTube, too.
