  1. The Bible talks about signs in the heavens (in Luke I think). I know there are interesting astronomical events from time to time but I also wonder how many of them are one of these signs.
  2. A good rule of thumb that I go by is to take the Bible literally to the extent that it can be. If a passage is clearly figurative or using figures of speach, interpret it that way; otherwise take it literally.
  3. Given that the seals (along with the trumpets and bowls) are the judegements of God, is it possible that the first seal represents the anti-christ taking power? Since the Bible says that the rider of this horse has a bow but says nothing about arrows could indicate that he takes power through diplomacy and intrigue as opposed to militarily.
  4. I wonder how much of the money will get where it's intended to go instead of where it's not intended. Just a thought..........
  5. Shhhhhhhhhhhh! Don't give the cartoonists any ideas..... hhmmm, charging up San Juan Hill on a moose. Would that be a famous T.R. Bull Moose?
  6. Amen to what glorywatch said. Also, don't forget what it says in James 1 about being a doer of the word and not a hearer only.
  7. But based on the ones that have been fulfilled it would be reasonable to conclude that the ones regarding the second coming will be fulfilled also when the time comes.
  8. At any rate, anyone who dies without accepting Jesus as Savior will have a tough time of things. That is the saddest part.
  9. Keep in mind that the prophet's writings have been totally fulfilled up to this point. That can lead us to the conclusion that God is faithful to perform his word. Also the Gospels and Acts were written by people who had actually witnessed the events they were writing about.
  10. I'm not sure exactly what form it will take but I think it will have at least two elements. 1. It won't worship Jesus and 2. It will worship the beast. Basically those who haven't accepted Jesus as Savior will be the ones who by into it.
  11. I'm not sure if satan wants us in hell to be where he is or if he just wants us to be away from God.
  12. In Joel 2:38-32 it talks about God pouring out His Spirit on all flesh and showing wonders in the heavens and the earth. It could be that God is sharing something in regards to this passage. I would agree with everyone who has recommended praying and seeking God for the interpretation.

    End times

Didn't God have some everlasting covenants with Isreal that have yet to be completed? If God completes them, wouldn't it be a case of God fulfilling His word as opposed to a "distiction" between people?
  14. All the responses are on the mark. Didn't Paul say something in 2 Thessalonians about there being a great "falling away" in the last days? Does anyone think that might be a factor in what's happening?
  15. hey Tigs No, abuse is not of God nor would God use abuse on anyone. God love people and would not use that to draw people to Him.
  16. Keep in mind that chapters 1 through 11 of Genesis cover the time from the creation to the flood. That's a lot of material to cover in a very short amount of time and we really don't have a whole lot of details in terms of where people lived or how God made things.
  17. If I have figured Daniel 9 out correctly, the anti-christ will come from what was the Roman Empire (i.e., Europe, Mid-East, North Africa). That would likely rule out Obama as the anti-christ. (if you ask me that is )

    Prophecy

The biggest difference would be the Holy Spirit wouldn't it? In the O.T., the Holy Spirit hadn't been poured out and worked through a single person (the prophet). Since Pentecost, though, the Holy Spirit could prompt any believer with the Gift of Prophecy. Am I on the right track?
  19. Hey Tigger, WhySoBlind posted an excellent reply on what it says in Revelation. Along with that, keep in mind that God is in control of the situation. If I understand the Bible correctly, God will 1) receive us (Christians) unto Himself and 2) judge evil once and for all. Whether it happens tomorrow, in 2012 or 150 years from now God will still be in control and will look out for those that are His. woo hoo Keep focusing on Jesus and getting closer to Him.
  20. Wow, there is a lot of diversity on this issue. (which is a good thing, by the way) While I have a lot of family in the United Methodist Church, I've been going to a local Assembly of God Church for quite a while and have really enjoyed it.

    Catching away

From what I've read in the Bible, I would agree that the covenant in Daniel 9:27 is the trigger that starts the final seven year tribulation. If the pre-trib view of things is correct, the covenant is the latest point in time that the rapture could occur (and it could potentially occur earlier). On the other hand, I've heard people explain from the Bible how they came to a mid-trib or post-trib conclusion and what the said was really plausible. But the best news is that Jesus will be calling for us.
  22. It's very wise to seek confirmation. Be in prayer about it.

    Question

Sounds like a pretty popular topic.
  24. Shouldn't we be getting ourselve and others ready regardless of when it is?
