  1. When Jesus spoke of "their worm dying not" He was quoting Isaiah 66:24. The word used for "worm" actually denoted a particular kind of worm, called a scarlet worm. 1) worm, scarlet stuff, crimson a) worm - the female 'coccus ilicis' b) scarlet stuff, crimson, scarlet 1) the dye made from the dried body of the female of the worm "coccus ilicis" 2) worm, maggot a) worm, grub b) the worm "coccus ilicis" ++++ When the female of the scarlet worm species was ready to give birth to her young, she would attach her body to the trunk of a tree, fixing herself so firmly and permanently that she would never leave again. The eggs deposited beneath her body were thus protected until the larvae were hatched and able to enter their own life cycle. As the mother died, the crimson fluid stained her body and the surrounding wood. From the dead bodies of such female scarlet worms, the commercial scarlet dyes of antiquity were extracted. What a picture this gives of Christ, dying on the tree, shedding his precious blood that he might "bring many sons unto glory" ("#Heb 2:10")! He died for us, that we might live through him! What is being spoken of here is implicit in the imagery Jesus used. He used something His audience would be particularly conversant with, and they would recognize that He was thus claiming to be the Messiah, One who gives life by giving His life. Clio
  2. Ok, Eric. Let me ask you this... Are Sodom and Gomorrah still burning? In Jude 1:7 we are told that the punishment of the wicked as well as the fallen angels is like that of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the word used for eternal is: aionios {ahee-o'-nee-os}, which means 1) without beginning and end, that which always has been and always will be 2) without beginning 3) without end, never to cease, everlasting. Here is the exact texts describing the nature of eternal fire. Jude 1:7-8 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. The greek aionios {ahee-o'-nee-os}, is the exact word used in Matthew 25:46 and translated in that text as "everlasting". Now... Sodom and Gomorrah are not still burning. Their punishment was finite, with infinite fire, originating from the eternal I AM. Their destruction was eternal, the duration of their agony was not. Now, for the rest. Revelation 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. There is only one conclusion as to the identity of the beloved city referenced in this text. It can only be the New Jerusalem. For these texts take place after the first resurrection of the righteous, identified earlier in this chapter. It specifically states that those who compass the beloved city about, are part of the second resurrection, and will take part in the second death, which is eternal with no further hope of salvation. Note also that the fire that "devoured them", indicating an ending to the devouring, not an ongoing forever and ever devouring emmanating from the Most High. Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet [are], and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. This is a very different, and limited, group that are cast into the lake of fire and brimstone and tormented forever and ever. Also, we are NOT told where the lake of fire and brimstone actually is. But there are only three inhabitants. It is not likely that the lake of fire and brimstone where the Adversary, the beast and the false prophet are punished is on earth. Because in the very next sentence he writes, John the Revelator says: And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. Revelation 21:1. Keeping in mind that the greek in which this text was written didn't contain the punctuation, chapter headings and verses that later translators of his manuscript imposed on it. The better break is in Verse 2 of Revelation 21 where John goes on to expand on what he saw in the vision recorded in Revelation 20. He describes for us what the New Jerusalem looked like, the indescribable beauty of it, a Bride prepared for her husband. He describes for us the no further need for a tabernacle, the ending of all sin, the It is Done. Finished for all time. In Revelation 21:8, John again speaks of punishment and death. "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." Notice that nowhere is there an indication these are tormented forever and ever. They are dead. They die the second death which is eternal. Only the Adversary, the beast and the false prophet are referenced as being tormented forever and ever. John is specific in both places. Clio
  3. It is not the torture that is eternal, but the fire that is eternal as it emmanates from the I AM, Who is eternal. The Bible says over and over that the earth is going to be made new. It will be perfect. Revelation tells us the lake of fire is outside the walls of the New Jerusalem after it is brought to earth by the Father. If that lake were eternal, then this earth would never be made new, without oceans (also found in Revelation.). Therefore the consequences are eternal, the fire emmanating from the eternal I AM is eternal, but the punishment and destruction duration is finite. Clio
  4. Catsmeow, I do not know all the details of your stepmother's life or death, but I have a similar situation with my husband's mother. From the human vantage point, she died "lost". But Abba looks not upon the outward appearance, but upon the heart. Who knows what passes between the human heart and it's Creator in the last moments before death? None, not one, except for the Holy Spirit, who pleads our case before Abba in the most worthy way, with groanings without utterance. (Romans 8:26-27) Catsmeow, I submit to you, that we do not know whether your stepmother died lost. When King Jesus returns to the skies above this planet, then and only then will we know who is saved and who is lost. I trust my Beloved Bridegroom, and that the decisions He and the Most High make with regard to each human heart are perfect. But I also believe in Their mercy. I hope you find rest in your emotions and grieving process for your step-mama. Clio
  5. No. I'm not saying it is necessary to have no doubts. But I find that in the particular path He has me walking, all is much smoother if I do my housekeeping (spiritually) daily. That means, when I get up in the morning, I talk to Abba about what happened the day before. I ask Him to bring to mind all that I did that displeased Him, and for which I need forgiveness. If He doesn't bring anything in particular to mind, I ask Him for a clean heart, washed in True Jesus Blood, and to renew a right spirit within me. Then, I put on my armor as its given in Ephesians 6, asking Him for each piece of it, and recognizing that each piece represents different attributes and characteristics of my Saviour. With that done, I pray whatever is on my prayer list. I keep a prayer journal so I can identify and remind myself in the bad times all the wonderful, marvelous, fantastic, answers to prayer and blessings He has brought into my life. It also reminds me of His faithfulness. Once I've made it through my prayer list, I tend to keep up a running conversation with Jesus for the rest of the day. About stuff... whatever comes to mind. Thus, no matter what He asks of me that day, unless I have deliberately done something I KNOW is sin, I have a clean conscience before Him, and can approach the Throne boldly on behalf of those in need. You might want to read my post in the Spiritual Warfare section on the Armor of Ephesians 6 and why it works. Clio
  6. No worries. In the ministries in which He chooses to use me, a clean conscience is a must. And there is no room for pride or vanity. Its too close to its original source. Clio
  7. Silent prayer, Jesus promises us that He will never leave us or forsake us, even unto the end. He has not forsaken you, even though you cannot feel Him just now. Being connected to the Saviour is not something we can always feel with our emotions. The Bible tells us that there is nothing more deceitful than the heart of man. So our feelings are not reliable guides to the state of our relationship with Jesus. The only reliable guides are the Holy Spirit and the Bible. When Jesus destroyed who I was in order to make me into who He designed me to be, with all the potential inherent in me, I felt much as you describe. I retreated into the Wilderness, and MADE myself read my Bible. And the place I started was in Psalms. King David was described as a friend of Abba, as a man after Abba's own heart. Yet this same man suffered from severe depression (witness some of his Psalms, he describes himself and his feelings, and it's clear he's not happy!), was an adulterer, a murderer, doubted Abba, and yet also soared on wings of eagles to the highest pinnacles of joy in the Lord. Bask in the Psalms, it is the Psalms of David, and his depth, breadth, and height of human emotion that gives us prayer language for the best there is within us, but it also give us prayer language for the worst that is within us. Even Jesus Himself cried out in the prayer language of the Psalms, "My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?" Psalms 22:1, Matthew 27:46 as He hung dying on the cross. I was so raw, and in such need of Him, and the comfort of the Psalms, that I couldn't stand to read any other part of the Bible. I just immersed myself in the Psalms. One a day, sitting on my porch, drinking a hot drink, or a cold drink, depending on the weather. And as the Psalms penetrated my heart, I would pray. It took months. It's not a quick fix, but it's a permanent, wonderful, fix to the foundation of my relationship with Him. Clio
  8. Truespirit, I am blessed that you are blessed. But I have no pride in me for this. You received a blessing because Abba blessed you. Whatever gifts He has given me, are... temporary. And they change from time to time as His tasks assigned to me change. There is nothing for which I should be proud, only grateful, and humbled that He would trust me enough to use me to forward His plans. Pride in Abba given beauty, talent, and intellect is what got Lucifer into trouble to begin with. Clio
  9. I'm so glad you were blessed truespirit. If you receive a blessing from anything I write it is because Abba Father has blessed you and the Spirit has granted you discernment. It is nothing that came from my mind. He is always faithful when one presses into Him with a sincere desire to know His will. How clearly I remember my own confusion when He began to destroy in me, all the strongholds of rebellion, deceit, fear, works oriented salvation, and all the rest. As you walk more and more in His guidance, you will begin to recognize when His hand is moving, and the joy of knowing He trusts you enough to use you in His plans will overwhelm you. When you get the Holy Spirit joy (I perceive it a spiritual bubbles and joy), remember to pray immediately for protection and then DUCK! We are told in Scripture that the "Joy of the Lord is our Strength". Over the years, I've found when I get the "joy" for no particular reason, a serious attack from the Adversary follows, and the joy was given so I could get through it. [qoute]The Scripture tells us there is nothing we can do to impress Him, moreless, and I understand that. On the same hand, however, what do you do if you have the desire within to get involved with volunteer/charitable work? Not because you feel that you have to in order to please God, but because your heart wants to do something like that?
  10. I assure you, Crystal, it is my pleasure to do His will. He sent me here, and told me to speak freely. I just love my Abba so very much, I want everyone to have the wonderful, intimate relationship that I experience now. I came to it so late in life, that I very much regret the years I spent wandering so far from Him. I am .... I don't even have the words... Sad, angry, piteous of the teachers who taught me so many lies about the Father. And I think it's mostly sorrow and pity. They could not teach me truths they did not know themselves... and now it is almost too late. Time is so very short. Clio
  11. You are the only person other than myself that I have ever heard use the terms head-knowledge and heart-knowledge. Abba Bless you! It's not about religion, it's about relationship. Clio
  12. I really enjoyed your testimony to the power of Abba to effect change and protection in our daily lives. Welcome to the Kingdom Family! Clio
  13. Yeah... I did post a long story. But it's so much a part of who I am.... It's not a novel though. These are the diary pages I kept, along with my additional memories of our trip. It was one of the most awesome trips I've ever taken in my life. I think the only one that will surpass this one is our trip Home with Jesus. I wrote it out some time ago, and have been working on a much larger manuscript covering 2000 - 2002 in my walk with Abba and His leading in our lives. My first book was published this fall and I'd like to see if I can get my manuscript published sometime this year as well. You can check out my first book, along with a sample of what's inside at: www.lulu.com/prasinghm Clio
  14. I posted this in General Discussion under the title "Of Seeds, Sowers, and Reapers." but it clearly belongs here, and so I am adding to this thread. Matthew 13:3-9 3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: "Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. 5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. 8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" Matthew 13:24-30 24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?' 28 He said to them, 'An enemy has done this.' The servants said to him, 'Do you want us then to go and gather them up?' 29 But he said, 'No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn."'" The Parable of the Tares Explained 36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field." 37 He answered and said to them: "He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. 39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. 40 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. 41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! Clearly from these two parables there is a division of labor in the house of the King. We are not to shepherd another's steps all the way to salvation. We are called to be sowers, to spread the gospel to all the nations. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15. This is the precious seed, that yields wheat or tares, depending on what those hearing do with the truth they hear. Many times the seeds we sow will bear no fruit when our eyes are upon them. How long does it take for seed to grow and germinate in good soil? Is the sower tarrying in the field exhorting the little seed to germinate, to grow, to hurry and bear fruit? No. The sower goes on, seeding more fields, traversing more thorny, stony ground, spreading the seeds of the Gospel wherever they tread. The Holy Spirit, the "rain" poured out from heaven, waters the earth and the seeds sown by the workers in the field. The Spirit knows all hearts, and pleads our cause before the very throne of Abba making intercession for us in the most worthy way. [Romans 8:26-27]. We are not to gather the harvest home either. That is the job of the angels. It is they, the angels of Heaven, who are given the task of separating those who have taken truth to their heart, cherished it, received it fully, and utterly, and who are fully and completely belonging to Jesus, Who died to redeem them from sin, from those who reject Him and His Sovereign Lordship. Many will hear and many will be their reactions. Some hearts will be as stony ground, utterly rejecting Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Some hearts will be as the thorny ground. Accepting with joy, but having no roots deep into the living water in the wells of salvation (Isaiah 12:3), they will wither away when persecution, trials, and mocking ridicule is heaped upon them. But some hearts, hearts of good and fertile ground, will accept that Jesus is Sovereign Lord of their life, they will study to show themselves approved unto Abba, entering into each truth as revealed in the Bible with joy and obedience. They will speak it loudly that Jesus is Lord, and that by the power of the Most High He was raised from the grave. [Romans 10:9-10] These things will make sense to some few, but most will find it incomprehensible, for it flies in the face of that which they long to believe. For the King of Kings, True Jesus has spoken in type and arch-type, In Isaiah 6:9-10 and in Matthew 13:14-17 'Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, And seeing you will see and not perceive; For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.' 16 But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear; 17 for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it. And the very best seed, the pearl of great price, the Kingdom of Heaven embodied in Jesus and His life-giving Blood, is given us in John 3:16-18. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. All that is required is that we believe in the name of the only begotten Son of Abba. So simple, and yet so profound. Clio
  15. Actually, I do! I hadn't thought about posting them! It's amazing. It really does look like a Partridge Family bus. The kids had a blast doing it. We're talking about converting that thing into a motor home and using it off road in the bush. I have had many occasions over the years to be glad I had the sense to keep a diary of the trip. Someday I'm sure my kids will want a copy. They still talk about our trip north. Clio
