  1. The key for believers should be the Holy Spirit. We should be praying before we post, while typing, and before submitting. We have a great opportunity when speaking with non-believers to plant a seed. It takes the average person between 5 and 25 times of hearing the gospel before they make a decision to act at all. When debating theological differences we also need to consult prayer and be spirit led. We need to assure that minor theological differences are not jeopardizing our relationships with others in the body of Christ. God Bless, Dave
  2. California Pastor is arrested for reading the Bible outside of a DMV office. http://video.foxnews.com/v/1536482417001/
  3. *** Edited out the link to YouTube. We have a forum just for videos. If you wish, you can submit your video there and then link to it from here. ***
  4. Has anyone else read this book? What were your thoughts? Did it change the way you view being a follower of Christ? I just finished this book this morning and must say it painted a picture of where I have been as a believer in Christ and where I need to get to. I look forward to hearing how others felt about this book. God Bless, Dave
  5. I started out in a Strict baptist church that believed in KJV only, and i was the same for the first 2yrs of my walk with the Lord. Now after much research and many debates, on these boards mostly I have come to understand that the meat of the Text is the same in almost any translation you choose to use. And as was already said, no ones salvation is going to lie in which translation they use. I do enjoy the KJV for the poetic language used, but for study purposes i would much rather have an ESV or NASB. God Bless, Dave
  6. Sam68, Are you here to learn or to make proclaimations? Any amount of studying of the original texts will answer all of your questions. Of course if you compare translations you will see different words used for the same thing. Different people did the translations and felt their word explained it better. No big deal you can always invest in a strong's concordance and look at the original word and its definition. If you are here to teach us, you are in the wrong place, many of us have spent countless hours studying the scriptures to have a deeper understanding of our Lord's word. So do you know Jesus? I pray that you do, and if not that your heart may be opened and you may recieve him before it is too late. God Bless, Dave
  7. Fire, I am sorry you feel you were wronged, we at worthy have multiple levels of administration for the sole purpose of avoiding any one person or group of people from being controlling. Now that being said you are partially correct, we do maintain some amount of control of the site, simply because this is a controlled enviroment, and if we did not have it moderated, trust me you would not believe the junk that gets posted. We strive to maintain a decent enviroment for Christian fellowship and the edification of the body of Christ. God Bless, Dave
  8. Again that is the resurrection of physical bodies of those in heaven. God Bless, Dave
  9. No grave means abrahams Bosom <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1Sa 28:11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. 1Sa 28:14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. 1Sa 28:15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do. Those verses there says he came up and Samuel himself asked him why he was disquieted and brought up. Hmmm I thought we all went to heaven. I guess you're(you all) going to say now that that was a devil in disguise. lol <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So you think the OT saints were treated the same way at death as those after Christ's resurrection? When we die we are taken to heaven in the Spirit, to dwell with the Lord until his Second coming, at that time when the Church is raptured our bodies are taken from the ground and recreated as glorified bodies, and the church on earth will meet us in the clouds. 2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Your tone here speaks volumes imo, you try to belittle the ministry because you are not getting the reaction you want from your posts. Do we ban those with differing view points? No.. Do we ban those with bad attitudes who destroy the enviroment in which we are to fellowship? you better believe it. Do we ban those who are pushing their unbiblical beliefs unto others? sure do.. If you are here to converse, fellowship, and grow within this Christian family, you will be welcomed with open arms, if you come in here looking to stir things up and cause strife, you will not make it far. Again the tone of this post is defensive at best, why such an aggressive means of trying to make your point? My suggestion is that you pray before you post, then reread your posts before clicking submit, you may find that many of these posts never make it to the boards God Bless, Dave
  10. Yes But even that real world has two subrealities <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Follow the white Rabbit.....
  11. Amen sister! Let's pray he comes quickly, because if it continues to decline at the rate it has been, there will be brothels on every corner in 10 years. God Bless, Dave
  12. This is just a reflection of our society, anybody watched worlds most talented kids? Amber was watching this last night and I caught this 7yr odl girl wearing a sleaveless top that was exposing her entire abdomen, what kind of modesty are our children being taught from the start here? She was also doing a tap dance that had some moves I would of considered suggestive. Another example, my wife's brother is 12yrs old, we went to a talent show he was involved in last Tuesday, one of the performances of the talent show was a Girl in a tight dress that went maybe 2 inches down her thighs doing a very suggestive dance, oh yeah this followed the singing of amazing grace So where does it all start? and please when will it all end God Bless, Dave
  13. Well as far as changing theology goes, I believe that is just a matter of growth and discerning the truth. The key is learning that no one is perfect and we should check all teachings against scripture. As far as the here and now goes. When I think about the Infinate (God) and his dealings with the Finite (us) it just boggles my mind. I often consider our current reality as all one big dream, in God's eyes it is already finished we are just playing out the story line. When we die it is really us waking up to the "real" world so to speak. God Bless, Dave

  15. verse?? You know sis as I have said before, I have no problem at all with those who "speak in tongues" I do however have a huge problem with those who pervert the gospel by claiming tongues is a must if the Holy Spirit is in you. God Bless, Dave <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This is Acts 10:44-46. But I don't necessarily agree with Nebula's interpretation. The jews present knew that the gentiles were magnifying God, so they must have had some understanding of what was being spoken. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have to agree I see nothing there that shows they did not understand, actually quite the contrary as you say they knew what they were saying was magnifying God. God Bless, Dave <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh but there is scriptural proof. Peter and John were "Unlearned and ignorant men(Acts 4:13)", they were not linguists, like Paul was, so they would not have understood more than one, or at the most two languages. If Cornellius "Spoke in Tongues", and it was a language he might have known anyway(Greek, Hebrew. Latin), it would have been meaningless. So they definitely did hear him speak in a language that nobody present understood, or at least no native romans understood. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually I was referring more to a situation like Pentacost where they understood in there own tongue. God Bless, Dave
  16. Actually Neither would I, as I have stated many times now, if speaking in tongues helps strengthen your relationship with our saviour then have at it. To me it ranks right there with pray reading, I see no Biblical precedence for it but also see no danger in it. Some will say you are opening yourself up to Satan, but God is stronger then he who opposes us. God Bless, Dave

  18. You all seem to be missing the point. For the wages of sin are death. I could stop right there and the question would be answered. But you see, we are all sinners we all deserve nothing more then eternal damnation, BUT Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour came in the flesh died on Calvary's Cross and was resurrected to bring us resurrection. He bore our sin punishment for us so that we may have eternal life with him. The wages of Sin are the wages of sin whether it be murder, stealing $1 or stealing $100. The punishment was set long ago, and all sin has the same result, but God has given us a way out and that way is Jesus the Christ. If you choose not to accept his precious gift of salvation you in turn choose eternal damnation. God Bless, Dave
  19. verse?? You know sis as I have said before, I have no problem at all with those who "speak in tongues" I do however have a huge problem with those who pervert the gospel by claiming tongues is a must if the Holy Spirit is in you. God Bless, Dave
  20. dwinkjr, you are forgetting another 'type' of tongues. a person's prayerlanguage. i know many people who pray in tongues. in which case, there is no need for an interpreter, because what is spoken is between that person, and God <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Care to share where biblically this comes from? I would say God knows the heart and whether you mumble or don't even make an audible sounds God knows what your needs are. God Bless, Dave
  21. Jer!!! Long time no see brother... Great to see you back!!!!!! God Bless, Dave
  22. neb, I will tell you what, I will ask the Lord that if Modern day tongues are of Him that he gives me the gift to further glorify Him. And let you know how it goes, but I still donot see 1 biblical example of anybody speaking in tongues(Holy Language) that required an interperator. God Bless, Dave
  23. Really?? Can you show biblical support for these statements? Specifically the difference between recieving the HS and being Baptized in the HS. God Bless, Dave
  24. I hope I am misreading or drawing incorrect conclusions here. It would follow that anybody who doesn't speak in tongues isn't a Christian. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope, actually you have hit the meat of this Tongues theology. These groups teach that if one does not speak tongues they do not have the Holy Spirit, Biblically all believers recieve the HS, so by saying you donot have the HS they are in turn saying you are not saved. God Bless, Dave
