  1. I posted this in another part of the forum but would like some men's views on this also as I know there are some pastor's here. I have a neighbor who has lived next door for about 10 yrs. Her and her boyfriend are not christians. The problem is she is a huge gossip, and often lies about other people in the neighborhood. She gets joy out of bashing my other neighbors 16 yr old daughter. She will yell at her in front of others and say nasty things to/about her. She also has said some nasty things about my other neighbor (girl's mom). Things about what she was like in HS, etc. Neighbor #2 is a christian and goes to church and has strong faith. However, she will not say anything to neighbor #1 about her treament of her daughter. This has gone on for years. Neighbor 2 says she wants to keep peace becasue other than this, we have a great neighborhood. We all lookout for each other, help each other, etc. Recently, neighbor 1 has taken to lying about me and my family. I am at a loss at to what to do. I would like to keep peace in the area myself, so have been afraid to say anything. However after speaking to another christian, he said there really is no peace if we are having to deal with her lying and gossip. Peace gets destroyed when she does this, and letting it continue will only make the problem worse. I agreed with him. The thing is, this woman has been told before by her boyfriend that she is making people angry and hurting peopple by her behavior, but she continues. Last week her boyfriend, who I will call R, (and is a fantastic guy)helped us paint the outside of our home. (we got the paint from them, she works in a paint store). He was here all week, and we got pizza and such to show our appreciation. R said it was no prob cause hubby is always helping him w/ his house. On Wed, he went to play pool after helping paint for a bit. I told him "Have fun, you've done more than enough to help us, I really appreciate it, etc". A few days later, the other neighbor (2) I spoke of asked me "Were you mad cause R went to play pool Wed?" I replied, "What?" She said "L (the one who gossips) said you were mad becasue R went to play pool and you wanted your house finished." I was so shocked and hurt. I told neighbor2, "No, I told him to go have fun, I was appreciative etc." She said, "Yeah, I didn't think it was true." I was so mad I wanted to strip off the paint and give it back to her. So a few days later I spoke to R and told him what happened and told him I hope he knows me better than that. He said he thought maybe it was another one of the kids in the neighborhood who misunderstood something. I didn't say it came from L, but I let him know it was not the truth. Another situation happpened when my hubby was over thier house one evening and the next day L said "You know, hubby is angry that you never do his laundry. You do your and your kid's but he has to do his own." So I asked my husband if he said that, and he said "No." I told him she said it, and he was livid. He is as fed up as the rest of us are. This gives you an idea of what goes on. What are your opinions on this? Should we confront her? Or just turn the other cheek?
  2. If this passes, and I pray is doesn't, I wonder how many people will end up in jail for crimes against christians, compared to christians who end up in jail for thier beliefs....bet there's going to be a big difference.
  3. Wow, thats merciful and loving. Not. Must be nice to be so perfect and right all the time that you can equate your brothers and sisters in the Lord with homosexuals. Some on these boards have truly fogotten what love means.
  4. I'm bumping this up becasue I have seen some discussions on the boards latley that have disturbed me. Some of us have resorted to being rude, name calling, and general nastiness to get thier point across, because they are so sure they are 'right'. How sad for a new believer who comes here looking for answers. How sad for the abused wife who thinks she must submit to her abusive hubby. How sad the brothers and sisters in the Lord are more concerned with being prideful and right, than having a reasonable discussion. Because if God is who we say He is, won't He be able to let people know if they may be under false teaching? Or does He need us to call one another liars and heretics? We have resorted to telling people they are reading the wrong dictionaries and commentaries. It's stupid.... But I am just as guilty as others in trying to get a point across. I apologize for it too. If someone doesn't agree, or listen, then as the Bible says, Shake the dust off your feet and move on. There are many, many people coming here who are hurting and looking for love, and prayers, and help. Not finger pointing and name calling. I thank the Lord I am already a christian, because if I was a baby christian and new here, and read some of those posts, I'd run as fast as I can from here.
  5. To me, of or over makes no difference as I do believe the husband should be the head of the home. My issues are raised when those who are shouting 'feminism is of the devil' may just be using chauvenism in the same manner. I say that because most of the time, a woman goes to thier pastor, who most of the time is a man, and when she tells them there are problems, the advice is 'be more loving, more submissive, etc.' Its like the men get excused from thier behavior while the women get the blame. So maybe, just maybe, if we started teaching the men how to be the the head 'of' or 'over' those words wouldn't make much difference if the men started "Loving thier wives as Christ loved the church". That love is a sacrificial love, not a domineering love. It is the love of a servant, as Christ himself said He was. The whole church, men and women alike, need to do some serious foot washing.
  6. Psa 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he put our sins from us. and 2Co 5:10 For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what he deserves for what he has done in his body, whether good or worthless. Now if we are to recieve for what we've done, good or bad, doesn't that mean some sort of punishment?
  7. Right, but if they aren't held against us, why the Judgement?
  8. This was something I always wondered about, and after reading another thread, I figured I'd ask about it. The Word says that if we confess our sins, He will remember them no more, or cast them as far as the east is from the west, etc. But it also says that we will stand before the Judgement Seat and give an account of our lives. Can someone reconcile these two things for me? It seems a contradiction. (I know the Word doesn't contradict itself, however at face value this seems so here.)Thanks.
  9. I think we should be careful when we combine WOF and 'name it claim it' titles. There's a big difference. It was my 'word of faith' that asked Jesus into my heart. It is my 'words of faith' that I use when I pray. I pray, and I have faith that God will answer. Do I expect God do do great things in my life? Absolutely, becasue His word says we are to pray and believe. We pray in faith, by ourselves and with others out loud, we believe God hears us, otherwise it wouldn't be faith. However, I can claim and believe for a million dollar home but its never going to happen with my current income. I can claim all day long my hair is blonde, but that won't make it so. I do speak out in a WOF, but I do not do the name it claim it thing.
  10. You should run with idea and write a book. It would be a great warning to people.
  11. I really don't have any advice for you, but last time I had serious work done I asked for something stronger than T3 because for me T3 doesn't do anything when it comes to mouth pain. I'll keep you in my prayers though. Oh, just a thought, can you get to your church beforehand and get prayer from your elders?
  12. I think there are many things that point to the national id or 'mark'. We have SSN's, driver's licenses, and the thing you need for just about everything now, including getting car insurance----Your credit score!!! You can't do much of anything without at at least one of those.
  13. Here's a good article. http://www.heightschristian.org/Resources/...HarryPotter.pdf In it it describes how children are wanting to enroll into schools which teach witchcraft, etc. If you do a search on the effects of Harry Potter and the increased interest of witchcraft, you'll come up with tons of different articles and reports. Schools are usuing it as cirriculum, which is ridiculous.
