  1. The Hebrew word rendered "HELL" is "SHEOL" and the Greek word is "HADES". The meaning of these words is "GRAVE" or "PIT". The original meaning of the English word Hell meant 'to cover', which served as a much more accurate translation from the Greek and Hebrew.
  2. I have wondered, but I have never come to the conclusion that it was about the birth of Jesus. What is not true about it? Is it the truth that it is the day that many have chosen to celebrate the birth of our Lord. Is it the truth that those same people acknowledge that we know this is not the exact day that our Lord was born? Is it the truth that we do not know the exact day that our Lord was born? Please tell me which of these is not the truth. They are all true statements.....but that does not make them God's truth....nor does it make christmas acceptable in His sight. Christmas is man-made and not God appointed. Which do you choose to follow, God or man?
  3. is what the truth? is it the truth that Dec 25 is the day that we have chosen to celebrate the birth of our Lord? yes that is the truth. Is it the truth that we dont really know what day he was born on? yes, that is the truth also. is is the truth that no one has said "this is the day that Jesus was born"? yes that is the truth also. what is not the truth? Massorite has put forth evidence directly from the pages of God's Word, pointing toward the 'real' time of Jesus' birth... Why not ditch the false day and observe the 'truth'?
  4. I would not care in the least, especially if, like in this case, they didn
  5. so ok i admit i had to laugh ovedya but really do you think Jesus minds if we dont get the exact date right? that is my question to all of you- if we celebrate it as His birth and give Him the glory does the exact date matter? lv yr sis in christ manie Would you mind if all your family and friends celebrated your birthday several months from the real date of your birth? John 4:23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
  6. It is in the lake of fire. Once again, there is nothing to suggest annihilation. The second death refers to the final and eternal spiritual condtion of those who rejected Christ. Jude 1:7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire. How do you interpret this passage in Jude? Sodom and Gomorrah which were annihilated by fire....are here given as an example of punishement by eternal fire.
  7. If "HELL" is thrown into the lake of fire....where then is that 'eternal place of torment' for all the wicked unbelievers? Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
  8. Sometimes people just like to go over things.....It can often help to clarify one's thoughts by rehashing the info.
  9. Matthew 10:32-33 Isaiah 9:6 Is the definite article actually in the Hebrew??? THE mighty God, THE everlasting Father, THE Prince of Peace. Names or titles containing the word el, do not necessarily identify that individual as Almighty Father Yahweh.
  10. I haven't found any such scripture either.
  11. I'll add my two cents, although what I will say has been said. It sounds to me like her relationship with The Father is not right. Ignore her comments, or think of them as a cry for help, and pray for her. Since you consider her your friend, her heart relationship with Jesus should foremost in your mind. I have a relationship in my life much like this. And I know that it is not ME, it is the person and their relationship to the LORD that is lacking. The closer to the LORD I become, the less these comments bother me, and the more I pray for this person the better their relationship with God has become. Prayer is always a win ~ win situation! That's not two cents worth.....that's priceless!
  12. Extravagant wedding plans! Definitely!....But the age is not a problem. They both sound mature enough. The fact is that we used to marry and have children, while hubby works. These days its a matter of, get a career first, don't get married too young, have children, perhaps as late as in your 30's and even 40's. This new-fashioned way, in my opinion, leads to all kinds of un-godly life-styles. It's an invitation to living together and having children out of wedlock. I think your nephew is wise to marry at this age. It's God's way. May He bless them both in this union. PR
  13. Shalom Bib, Thanks!! It's Chanukkah for EIGHT days! Whooo hoooo! So what did you do and eat today? The tradition is to eat lots of fried foods. Latkes (Potato pancakes) are delicious. Donuts are also a traditional Chanukah favourite here in AU ...and lots of Golden chocolate coins in little Chanukah gift bags.........yum!!!!!! I love latkes especially with applesauce. It is a tedious job to make them my hand... any easy recipes? I will look in the recipe thread if someone will post it there.. patricia1 The recipe I use is this 5 large potatos (washed only) 1 large onion 3 eggs 1/3 cup of flour or course ground matzo meal 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper olive oil for shallow frying Grate potatos and onion, or put them in the food processor. (Strain through a colander) Add all other ingredients and mix well. Shallow fry large tablespoons of the mixture for approx. 5 mins until golden brown. Drain on paper towel. Serve with apple sauce. Also you can use other vegetables with or in place of the potatos (sweet potatos, carrot, zucchini) Note: For any spicy food lovers, I always add either chilli powder or some exotic spice (corriander and cummin, or a middle eastern spice mix etc.) into the mixture for a little more exciting flavour.
