  1. @Neighbor I thought you might be blessed by this Christmas Carol... When I came across it tonight I found myself thinking of you. Enjoy. P.S. Merry Christmas. I am praying for you and your bride to get well soon.
  2. @EllaGrace Thanks. Great choice. I decided to post all the lyrics, as this song has such rich content. Btw, have a blessed Christmas. "Come Thou Long Expected Jesus" Come, thou long expected Jesus Born to set thy people free From our fears and sins release us Let us find our rest in thee Israel's strength and consolation Hope of all the earth thou art Dear desire of every nation Joy of every longing heart Joy of every heart Born thy people to deliver Born a child and yet a King Born to reign in us forever Now thy gracious kingdom bring By thine own eternal spirit Rule in all our hearts alone By thine all sufficient merit Raise us to thy glorious throne You draw the hearts of shepherds You draw the hearts of kings Even as a baby, You were changing everything You called me to Your Kingdom Before Your lips could speak And even as a baby, You were reaching out for me And now we are awaiting The day of Your return When every eye will see You As heaven comes to earth Until the sky is opened Until the trumpet sounds The bride is getting ready The church is singing out Come, thou long expected Jesus Born to set thy people free From our fears and sins release us Let us find our rest in thee Come, thou long expected King Interesting info on this- Notes Scripture References: st. 1=2 Cor. 4:14, Rev. 3:21 st. 3-4 =Isa. 61:1-2, Luke 4:18-19, Rom. 6:22 Charles Wesley wrote this Advent hymn and printed it in his Hymns for the Nativity of our Lord (1744). Like so many of Wesley's texts, "Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus" alludes to one or more Scripture passages in virtually every phrase. The double nature of Advent is reflected in this text, in which we remember Christ's first coming even while praying for his return. Stanzas 1 and 2recall Advent prophecies in the Old Testament; stanza 3 speaks of Christ's birth and kingdom, and stanza 4 is a prayer for Christ's rule in our hearts. Liturgical Use: Advent; Christmas and Christmas carol/lesson worship services; worship that stresses the second coming. --Psalter Hymnal Handbook
  3. @dhchristian It has blessed me. Thanks for sharing this.
  4. Medley: No Room/Have You Any Room for Jesus? lyrics No Room, only a manger of hay No Room, He is a stranger today No Room, He and His word turned away No Room, No Room Angles in heaven up yonder While they watch in such amazement and wonder To see the Son of highest treates so No Room here in the hears of mankind No Room, there's no cheery welcome to find No Room, surely the world is blind No Room, No Room Have you any room for Jesus? He who bore your load of sin? As he knocks and asks admission Oh brother won't you let Him in? Room for Jesus, King of Glory Hasten now His Word obey Swing your heart's door widely open Bid Him enter while you may Room for Jesus, King of Glory Hasten now His Word obey Swing your heart's door widely open Bid Him enter while you may Bid Him enter while you may ---------------------- I posted this medley in the video forum. Here is a link to it-
  5. HE GAVE! This is, by far... the greatest Gift ever! How gracious of our Father to send Him down to us! To die for our sins and rise again. The gospel is SUCH good news! But it all began when Jesus Christ was born into our world.
  6. The scriptures speak for themselves. We need to take them at face value. It is not up to private interpretation. We aren't allowed to pick and choose according to our feelings. It is natural to be repelled by the thought of eternal torment. But we have to trust that God knows what He is doing. He went through a LOT (beyond our limited comprehension to fully grasp) to bring us the wonderful, free gift of Salvation. If we reject it...whose fault is that? It is getting into dangerous territory to point the finger at God about the way He chooses to do things. Job tried that approach and it didn't work. Likewise, to deny the truth of scripture (finding ways around it) amounts to mere mind-science. It won't change a thing in the end. It is wrong to try to 're-invent God' to someone we feel more comfortable with just because our finite minds have trouble grasping humans being in the Lake of Fire. Yet the scriptures bear it out- To those who are close-minded, please do reconsider. To those who are still 'on the fence' please read these verses prayerfully and ask God's Spirit to guide you into all truth. I post this out of love. I hope it will be received as such. "The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."(Matthew 13:41-42) "And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth." (Matthew 13:50) "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal." (Matthew 25:46) "Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power" (2 Thessalonians 1:9) "And the smoke of their torment ascends up forever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receives the mark of his name." (Revelation 14:11) "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." (Revelation 20:15)
  7. @frienduff thaylorde This one is posted for you. I'm happy you remembered it from your childhood. Imo, everything is better with kids. I thought they did a nice job on it. It took me back to wonderful memories of Sunday School and participating in the Christmas pageants/programs. I was the one up there reciting poetry, as you might guess. This video goes out to all who enjoy the old Christmas carols. It is also in honor of Mama (her first Christmas in Heaven) because it was her favorite.
  8. Mary’s Boy Child. Long time ago in Bethlehem So the Holy Bible say Mary’s Boy Child, Jesus Christ Was born on Christmas Day! While shepherds watched their flocks by night They saw a bright new shining star And heard a choir from heaven sing The music came from afar Hark! Now hear the angels sing: “New King’s born today And man will live for evermore Because of Christmas Day!” Now Joseph and his wife Mary Came to Bethlehem that night. They found no place to bear her Child, Not a single room was in sight. Hark! Now hear the angels sing: “New King’s born today And man will live for evermore Because of Christmas Day!” By and by they found a little nook In a stable all forlorn. And in a manger cold and dark Mary’s little Boy/Child was born Trumpets sound and angels sing, Listen to what they say! That man will live forevermore Because of Christmas Day!
  9. Outstanding words! So I decided to post the lyrics. The Oulaw by Larry Norman Some say he was an outlaw that he roamed across the land With a band of unschooled ruffians and few old fishermen No one knew just where he came from or exactly what he'd done But they said it must be something bad that kept him on the run Some say he was a poet that he'd stand upon the hill That his voice could calm an angry crowd and make the waves stand still That he spoke in many parables that few could understand But the people sat for hours just to listen to this man Some say he was a sorcerer, a man of mystery He could walk upon the water, he could make a blind man see That he conjured wine at weddings and did tricks with fish and bread That he talked of being born again and raised people from the dead Some say a politician, who spoke of being free He was followed by the masses on the shores of Galilee He spoke out against corruption and he bowed to no decree And they feared his strength and power so they nailed him to a tree Some say he was the Son of God, a man above all men That he came to be a servant and to set us free from sin And that's who I believe he is 'cause that's what I believe And I think we should get ready 'cause it's time for us to leave
  10. God's standard for perfection is HIMSELF. Our human type of so-called 'perfection' is flawed and pales next to God's brilliant sinlessness. Compared to that, anything less is flawed. The literal meaning of sin is hamartanó which means to "miss the mark." With a requirement so high for righteousness, God alone could meet that. This is why He sent down Jesus (God in human flesh) to pay the price for our sins. Why? Because He loved us enough to SAVE us. Which begs the question- Save us from WHAT? From an eternity of torment in Hell...which is what we all deserve. WHY? Because every single one of us has "sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23) "All our righteousness is as filthy rags." (Isaiah 54:6) But when we receive God's free gift of salvation by faith (Ephes 2:8-10)- we become new creatures in Christ (2 Cor 5:17.) It's a transformation that God supernaturally does. "Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." The righteousness of Christ is imputed (transferred) to us. Now when God looks upon us, He sees His finished work of atonement at Calvary and the Resurrection. (2 Cor 5:21, Romans 4:22-25) He sees the blood of Jesus covering us. The animal sacrifices for thousands of years pointed ahead to the perfect Lamb of God who was crucified to take away the sins of the world. (John 1:29, Hebrews 9:22) Perfection in humans is a myth. NOBODY can be perfect. Not BEFORE we are saved- for this would be earning our way to Heaven. And not AFTER we are saved. Yes, our changed hearts now love God and enjoy pleasing the Savior who died for us. (Christ enables us by living THROUGH us.) But we still have a sin nature to contend with until we die and succumb to it sometimes. (1 John 1:9) To achieve ABSOLUTE perfection (where we no longer commit sins...ever) won't happen. It would make us equal to God.
  11. @frienduff thaylorde Your answer was rather short and vague. Could you please clarify and elaborate a bit? Do you believe Hell is a real place with everlasting fire and torment for those who have rejected Christ? And that all who do so will spend eternity in the lake of fire? Explain what you mean by "Jesus has me." ...Thanks.
  12. HE’S COME! “And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favour rests.” (Luke 2:8-14)
  13. I only learned of this Christmas carol recently. I am taken with the richness of imagery in it. It causes me to ponder on how Almighty God cared so much for us as to become one of us (though remaining God.) He took on human flesh.
  14. It is so awesome to think about Jesus Christ leaving the majesty of Heaven to come to our world. What matchless love has He for the human race!! I think this song captures some of the wonder. May God bless the rich truths in these lyrics to your souls. And may we exult His wonderful name! Glory be to God on high 1. Glory be to God on high, And peace on earth descend; Now God comes down, He bows the sky, And shows Himself our friend! God the invisible appears, God the blest, the great I AM, He sojourns in this vale of tears, And Jesus is His name. 2. Him by the angels all adored, Their maker and their king; Lo, tidings of their humbled Lord They now to mortals bring; Emptied of His majesty, Of His dazzling glories shorn, Our being’s Source begins to be, And God Himself is born! 3. See the eternal Son of God A mortal Son of Man, Now dwelling in an earthly clod Whom Heaven cannot contain! Stand amazed, ye heavens, look at this! See the Lord of earth and skies Low humbled to the dust He is, And in a manger lies! 4. So do the sons of men rejoice The Prince of Peace proclaim, With Heaven’s host lift up our voice, And shout Immanuel’s name; Our knees and hearts to Him we bow; Of our flesh, and of our bone, See—Jesus is our brother now, And God is all our own!
  15. This one is being posted for those who have lost a loved one and are missing them. Holidays are a time we just naturally think about family and want to be with them. This is my first Christmas without my mom (she passed on Feb 27th of this year.) This is a beautiful song about a brother in Christ who lost his daughter. He finds peace in the thoughts of her being with Jesus. I pray it is a comfort to someone out there.
  16. A prayer song by Larry Norman I've related to and have sung to God over the years. I love the heart-wrenching lyrics and his vulnerability/honesty. @BeauJangles I wondered if you've ever heard the alternate version of this song by Honeytree? That one is excellent, too. It was actually the first version I was aware of upon buying her classic "Evergreen" LP. I didn't discover that it was a Larry Norman song till many years later.
  17. @BeauJangles Thank you so much for this video. It was kind of you to dedicate it to me. It is a powerful song. As someone who has been writing poetry since age 11, I admire the profound thoughts expressed in such a touching way. It brings tears to my eyes. God sure gave Larry a wonderful song here. Another I love is "I am a servant." I will be posting that one. God bless you, brother.
  18. @Neighbor Aww. That is nice. In a world of relationships falling apart, you two are a tribute to what a marriage ought to be. Jesus at the center makes all the difference. I praise the Lord that He brought you together. She sounds like a wonderful woman.
  19. @Walter and Deborah Wow! One of my very favorite scripture passages! It says: 'any other creature.' Which means nothing in all creation! My heart overjoys and it brings great peace to be assured that NOTHING can come between my soul and the Savior! Satan will try. People will, too. But in the end I stand on this promise: "Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6)
  20. I am posting this in memory of my beloved mother. She went to be with Jesus on Feb 27th of this year. "Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem" was her favorite Christmas carol. I like this song because of that. But I also like how the gospel is tucked into the lyrics. I underlined the words I am referring to. O little town of Bethlehem How still we see thee lie Above thy deep and dreamless sleep The silent stars go by Yet in thy dark streets shineth The everlasting Light The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonight For Christ is born of Mary And gathered all above While mortals sleep, the angels keep Their watch of wondering love O morning stars together Proclaim the holy birth And praises sing to God the King And Peace to men on earth How silently, how silently The wondrous gift is given! So God imparts to human hearts The blessings of His heaven. No ear may hear His coming, But in this world of sin, Where meek souls will receive him still, The dear Christ enters in. O holy Child of Bethlehem Descend to us, we pray Cast out our sin and enter in Be born to us today We hear the Christmas angels The great glad tidings tell O come to us, abide with us Our Lord Emmanuel
  21. @BibleStudent100 You could've easily started your own thread about this rather than posting it in mine. You are entitled to your own beliefs and opinions, but I just felt it was unnecessary you put a damper on this thread of rejoicing. I clearly stated the purpose of it was to share "which ones do you love and why." You have made it clear that you don't believe in (much less love) Christmas carols. Therefore, the correct thing to do is post your thoughts in a thread that is relevant. Or, better yet- start one of your own This is not for debating...It's for celebrating. The birth of the Savior. I'm sure He loves to hear the praises of His own 365 days a year and doesn't get hung up on the specific date. Remembering with a thankful heart this wonderful event... Whatever day it fell on. Praise be to the Lord!
