  1. Some speculation, according to what i've been taught. I don't want to do this; i say let the speculators speculate, it will get them nothing but trouble, but no speculation in this: read see revelation 21:21: And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: . . . I don't think pearls are a bad thing.
  2. All of us have had to have the hard soil of our hearts and minds plowed so that the Seed of God can take root. It may not be pleasant but it is what it takes. Remember God says we all began as enemies of God.
  3. the U.S. has come in now to rescue a lot of these. i'm skeptical of this kind of help request but the best thing we can do is pray about it. i recognize mr. shoebat as knowledgable on these issues but in the article, he is being a prophet. claiming to be a prophet is serious business !
  4. I'm confused as to why the original post stated that 'Olam had anything to do with hell. I was taught that there have been more than one 'Olam. Not to add more confusion to the subject, of course, haha. (no, seriously, we have a biblical passage that states 'from olam to olam'. let me find it. Okay, I'm going to type in a few excerpts from now until olam translated as "from everlasting even to everlasting" in 1 Chron 16:36, Psalm 41:13, Psalm 90:2, etc. , translated "from this time forth and forever" in psalm 125:2, isaiah 59:21, Micah 4:7, etc. .....The Prophets indicate the future 'olam is, like every 'olam in the past, a specific point in time. from The Voice of Elijah Newsletter, Volume 11, Number 3. The author continues: Anyone who wants to claim that 'olam doesn't refer to the past as well as the future will have to do some rather fancy semantic footwork to explain not only the meaning of the phrases "from 'olam" and "unitl olam" . . . . .. They will also have to explain why the author of the Book of Ecclesiastes plainly tells us there has already been more than one 'olam.: Is there anything of which one might say, "See this, it is new"? Already it has existed for ages (olam) which were before us. (Ecclesiastes 1:10)
  5. There is a very interesting booklet called 'The Antichrist' that can be ordered for free from voiceofelijah.org. This booklet describes a 10-nation ARAB group like you're talking about.
  6. From what I've been taught, I understand 'yoke' to be a guide. Jesus guides us in the path of righteousness so we don't stray to the right or to the left.
  7. I think we need to watch for things like this as a warning and as a reminder that we must be very familiar with our scripture. To me, the phrase I copied and pasted below sounds nothing like the God of the Bible. It has the ring of words I've read from Muhammed or the Dahli Lama (spelling?). "Hello my children. This is Yahweh, the One True Lord. You have found creations secret,Now share it peacefully with the world."
  8. As you probably already are aware, anger stems from some kind of desire that you have that is being thwarted. I was taught that to rid oneself of anger, you've got to get at the root of the problem, which is your desires: for quiet, for respect, for peace, justice, whatever it is. take me, for example. i tend to become angry if i feel i'm not being treated fairly. but i must accept with thanks the circumstances God gives me every moment. remember: what right does the clay have to say to the potter . . . . . .
  9. Old Testament = God made a covenant with a people (basically a contract) detailing how they could go about becoming heirs of God's promise. New Testament= The inheritance is given when Jesus Christ fulfills the contract.
  10. This is an old post . . . but just in case you get back to it: I go for the old earth since I do not believe in 7 '24 hour' days. It wasn't until the 3rd day that we got the sun.
  11. I always remember where to find the response to questions like this because the phrase "Oh, you foolish Galatians" always sticks in my mind. 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? 4 Have you suffered so much for nothing--if it really was for nothing? 5 Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard? 6 Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." Also, after a sect of the Pharisees began trying to have the gentile believers circumcised, Peter said this, as recorded in Acts 15: 10 "Now therefore why do you put God to the test by placing upon the neck of the disciples a yoke which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear ? 11 "But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they also are."
  12. I used to believe the 'recap answer' to explain the difference, but according to my Voice of Elijah newsletter April 2003, the Truth is: Chapter 2 - Dry land has already appeared, no vegetation has yet sprouted, God created the first Adam from the ground, God created vegetation, God created birds, God created animals, God created the woman "Eve". Chapter 1 - On the third day of Creation: Dry land appeared out of the water. Vegetation-both plants and trees-sprouted. On the fifth day of Creation: God created the fish. God created the birds. On the sixth day of Creation: God created the animals. God created "the man" is His image and likeness. Things like this happen when we read our scriptures very carefully. I won't explain how this is because I am not called as a teacher, but the teacher I have makes it very clear that one of these accounts is history and one is prophecy. And, of course, the New Testament has much to say about the 'first' and 'second' Adam.
  13. One of the newsletters I get from 'Voice of Elijah' has a lengthy article about Job. It states that the Book of Job is essentially a parable, to tell us that we should expect to be smelted, refined, and tested. 2 Timothy 3:12: And indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
  14. It's confusing alright, but try this: We are also a part of "the One". I am "in Christ" right now. Also, all other Christians are in the same body I am in. Getting stranger? I was also 'in Christ' when He died; therefore, I already died. Luckily I was also 'in Him' when He arose from the dead. It seems off topic, maybe, but it helps me to understand how 3 can be 1, since the many are also 1. Hope this helps.
  15. Most importantly, you must make absolutely sure that you are born again. I was taught that until you are sure that you have repented and had your apology accepted by God, there is nothing else that God wants to hear about from you.
  16. 'The Old Testament Gospel of Jesus Christ'. sounds different, doesn't it? check this out for a free copy:My link
  17. Isaiah, this goes beyond the mere discussion about evolution. And i would not extrapolate the future from the past. Rome and Greece were also the beacons of western cultural civilization a long time ago (incidentally, would that imply that philosophy would not exist if it wasn't for those Zeus/Jupiter believers?). Believing that the universe is some thousands years old flies in the face with all we know about science. You can believe it, but I do not see how you can even read a layman scientific magazine without seeing huge contradictions with this view. That would imply that all we know about - Physics - Cosmology - Astronomy - Geology - Anthropology - Paleontology - Biology is wrong by 6 orders of magnitude (one million factor), surely not a deviation that falls into the expected experimental error range. It would be like saying that the width of North America is a couple yards. I could never embrace science if it makes predictions that are so massively wrong from what I think is true. If it is really the case that a certain nation holds beliefs which are so distant from the result of science, then I do not see the motivation for this nation to keep on financing such "useless" research. If I firmly believed that North America is a couple of yards wide and science tells me that I am wrong by a factor 1 million, why should I invest my taxes on science? This shift has already started: the focus of fundamental experimental physics research has moved from North America to Europe (Geneva). And considering the discussions concerning teaching ID and creationism in American biology classes, I am afraid that this is only the beginning. Ciao - viole just slow down a sec - regarding your last paragraph !! that research moved because of CERN. (on a side note, but interesting, from what i've read, during the talks about where to locate the facility, texas was one of the places considered, but it seems we just didn't want to finance it.)
  18. No, I'm not sure but I do worry that people would get too fervent when it comes to enemies of Israel and the whole middle east situation.
  19. * Ephesians 4:11 NAS And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, Do you know the gospel message? And were you called to preach it? I think that pretty well covers it.
  20. no....we don't. Those are distractions from people who are avoiding the sin question. No need whatsoever to even go there with them. I was once at a restaurant with 2 friends who started a conversation with our waiter, who was obviously a satanist with the jewelry he wore. They started of well but then he started challenging them on issues like creation, homosexuality, etc., etc., ad naseum. It was going nowhere quickly and getting tense as they argued minutia that no one can prove to an unbeliever anyway. I interrupted them to say to this kid, "None of that matters....who do you say Jesus is?" He would ask me about some other distraction and I would ignore it, repeating, "None of that matters if you don't know the only one who can save you from sin" At that sentence, he begged off and left. My friends both started criticing me for interrupting their grand explanations of theology. They were certain they had lost an opportunity, while I was certain this kid heard what he needed to know. About 10 minutes later the kid came back. He looked me in the eye and said, "I know you're right. I need to give my life to Jesus....where do you guys go to church?" My friends were dumbfounded, but this kid showed up next week. The things of the Spirit are spiritually discerned. If the issue is salvation and you're speaking to an unbeliever, avoid talking to their brain at all costs.
  21. link to Chuck Baldwin Live for the entire article (it's not super long) .........The disciples of our Lord were called “Christians” first by the Gentiles of Antioch, because of the manner in which the disciples reminded them of Christ’s nature and teachings. I never thought I would hear myself say what I’m about to say, but the truth is, the term “Christian” today means anything but Christ-like. To many people today, “Christian” refers to some warmongering, mean-spirited, throw-anyone-to-the-wolves-who-crosses-them person, who then has the audacity to look down their nose in contempt against anyone who disagrees with them for even the smallest reason. And the word “church” has the stigma of being simply an enclave of warmongers to many people today. And that, my friends, is one reason so many people are so turned off with today’s Christianity. And I can’t say that I blame them. I’m turned off too!.........
  22. This is false. Genesis 1 tells us of the creation of Adam and Eve. Genesis 2 is a summation of the creation and it focuses on the sixth day when God made Adam and Eve. The man and woman in Genesis 1 and Adam and Eve of Genesis 2 are one and the same. These are not two separate creation accounts. Genesis 1 and 2 are the same account spread out over two chapters. When the Bible was originally written it did not have chapter and verse breaks. Chapter breaks did not come about until the 13th century AD. So when you remove the chapter break you see one continuous account of the same story of creation. Therefore, your premise fails. i know i'm late but . . . i learned that the truth falls somewhere between. in a way, there is a 2nd creation account as we are being created in the 'image and likeness of God. i.e. the first adam, earthly, the 2nd adam, well, we know that's Jesus and the 2nd creation of US - in that same image through the new birth. the 2nd creation account, instead of being a summary, being prophecy - of Jesus and those members of His Body, the New Creation. very obviously, not every human being carries the image and likeness of God. (edited to add this link) Voice of Elijah - scroll down to 2nd article
  23. Scripture is clear that the evening and the morning were the 6th day, then it goes right into the 7th day. Your view is not scriptural. Just as a matter of interest did you read my responses regarding pain and suffering before the fall? If not please read those... Also, I have a few questions. I assume, based on your response that you are a YEC. How can you explain the fact that the Word of the Lord has been proclaimed to 1,000 generations (about 40,000 years at the very least - more if you account for the long lives found early in the Bible)? What do you see 'the evening & the morning' to mean? I have been taught that night is a time of darkness, i.e. lack of knowledge of the the Truth of God, morning, a time of Light or the knowledge of the Glory of God.
  24. Scripture is clear that the evening and the morning were the 6th day, then it goes right into the 7th day. Your view is not scriptural. Disagree.
  25. i was a fervent young-earther until . . . . the sun and stars and the moon didn't appear until the 4th 'day'. clearly, 'day' equals 'age'. secondly, God is obviously still creating NOW, in what i believe the be the 6th 'day', and we are to be zealous to enter God's rest, the 7th 'day'.
