  1. Especially, if your mission field is the local diary farmers association. Ok, you caught me with my spelling down. That was pretty funny! It was cute. I enjoyed!
  2. You ABSOLUTELY have my empathy on this! My wife suffers terribly from chronic pain and has now for more than eight years! She does her best. She reads. She prays. She involves herself deeply in her crafting and her crafting friends (both online and locally). She simply does the best she can as she can. It breaks my heart sometimes to see the pain she suffers in so much and all of the time. All I can offer her and anyone is to do our best to help here and now, pray here and now and retain hope that the Lord Jesus Christ will remake us in that day without these miseries.

  4. A pastor of mine once said, "Why do you look so surprised? Sinners sin! I know that might come as a shock to you, but ... sinners ... SIN!" Are you really that shocked? No, not really. You are not really shocked. So, what is in it for you to even bring the matter up? The same human mental mechanism that motivates "rumor rag" magazines to post every immoral story they can -- we feed emotionally on these things. My suggestion to you is to find what God is doing, things in people worked by the Spirit of God that are virtuous and good. Php 4:8-9 For the rest, brothers, whatever is true, whatever honorable, whatever is right, whatever pure, whatever lovely, whatever of good report, if of any virtue, and if of any praise, think on these things. (9) And what things you learned and received and heard and saw in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. There is nothing worthy in what you have linked to. There is nothing true, nothing honorable, nothing right, nothing pure, nothing lovely, nothing of good report and nothing of virtue or praise. BTW: This admonition is to myself as well, not you alone. I am asking us both and all to focus on what God does and to hold it high in our thinking and between each other. Much peace and grace to you all!
  5. I used to make the mistake of reading emotion into writings, but try less of that now! It is an assuming sort of practice... Thank you for your expression of love! I did not know the use of verbal plenary inspiration was a show off thing but a concept derived from learning and used for abbreviated speaking. Study to show thyself approved... This forum is for growing in fellowship of His Word and gleaning the richness of each individual here! Some come with more baggage than others but all in all an excellent exercise in growth in Christ as it teaches us to always respond with God's Love in mind first. Now the ability of writing- intent is sometime misconstrued and that is why I try not to read emotion into writings for the added confusion and harm of improper response could bring! My entire desire here is for building up and pointing to spiritual directives that are not always brought to view... In your case clearly your saying it was not your intent but as the quote indicates it was what you did! So all that has passed between us is that you have violated your own intent. There are small ones here that read these post and could walk away thinking it is okay to move around or exchange words in Scripture and it is ok to do that cause.... So clearly by both our understandings it is not! Judging what you write is not judging you! We are to address the writing and not the person as the rules we have agreed to by the very fact of being members here! Love, Steven True enough for our human level discussion, brother. It humbling to be human. What is very clear to me is that we will all have these details and matters handled quite handily by the Lord so enough. Thus, I am more and more aware of not wanting to quibble with things too much. Our greater portion is our capacity for love and fellowship, the peace in His Spirit between us both and all. I count your fellowship to be of greater value, than splitting hairs on this matter. Much peace and love in Christ to you, brother Steven.
  6. Excellent and insightful point! Thank you for sharing it.

    Repentance

All very well stated. (Joh 6:44) No one is able to come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up in the last day. The word "draws" here is: G1670 ἑλκύω, ἕλκω helkuō helkō hel-koo'-o, hel'-ko Probably akin to G138; to drag (literally or figuratively): - draw. Compare G1667. In our natural state, we are blind, lost and without hope of ourselves. We do not go looking for God. He comes looking for us. Luk 19:8-10 But standing, Zaccheus said to the Lord, Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I give to the poor. And if in anything I accused anyone falsely, I restore it fourfold. (9) And Jesus said to him, Today salvation has come to this house, for he also is a son of Abraham. (10) For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the one being lost. The Father arranges and orders the matters of this life for His own good pleasure and there is no unrighteousness in Him in the matter of whom He draws (e.g. drags): Rom 3:9-12 What then? Do we excel? Not at all! For we have charged both Jews and Greeks before, all with being under sin; (10) according as it has been written, "There is not a righteous one, not even one!" (11) "There is not one understanding; there is not one seeking God." (12) All turned away, they became worthless together, not one is doing goodness, not so much as one!" LXX-Psa. 13:1-3 The "... not so much as one!" is about even you and I. Me -- I am not even one who seeks God. Rather, I turned away. I turned in my blindness and dark heart to my own flesh and sin. This is the choice I made. Scripture tells me it is the choice each of us made -- including you as an individual reading these words. You did not seek. Rather, you turned to your own flesh, sin and lusts in your own dark heart of sin. We did this all together as humanity, starting with Eve, then Adam and then all of us together in all time. Now -- it is God who draws. Man ignores or man responds to His draw. In response, we either move to repent or we move to attack and rebel. God calls many, but only a few ever respond. God calls whom He will as He sees fit. Rom 3:13-19 "Their throat is a tomb being opened;" "they used deceit with their tongues; the poison of asps is under their lips; (14) whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. (15) Their feet are swift to shed blood; (16) ruin and misery are in their way; (17) and they did not know a way of peace; (18) there is no fear of God before their eyes." LXX-Psa. 5:10; 139:4; 9:28; Isa. 59:7, 8; Psa. 35:2; MT-Psa. 14:1-3; 5:9; 140:3; 10:7; Isa. 59:7, 8; Psa. 36:1 (19) But we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those within the Law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world be under judgment to God. The purpose of God first and foremost is to handle this matter of sin loose in His creation. Once the lines are clearly drawn, then His purpose in love is to redeem all that He can, which is His to pick and choose from the entire crop of humanity. He is the Husbandman, Righteous Judge and King. Gen 18:25b ... The Judge of all the earth, shall He not do right? Finally: Rom 1:16-32 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation to everyone believing, both to Jew first, and to Greek; (17) for in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; even as it has been written, "But the just shall live by faith." Hab. 2:4 (18) For God's wrath is revealed from Heaven on all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, holding the truth in unrighteousness, (19) because the thing known of God is clearly known within them, for God revealed it to them. (20) For the unseen things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things made, both His eternal power and Godhead, for them to be without excuse. (21) Because knowing God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful. But they became vain in their reasonings, and their undiscerning heart was darkened. (22) Professing to be wise, they became foolish (23) and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into a likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed animals, and creeping things. (24) Because of this, God gave them up to impurity in the lusts of their hearts, their bodies to be dishonored among themselves, (25) who changed the truth of God into the lie, and worshiped and served the created thing more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. (26) Because of this, God gave them up to dishonorable passions, for even their females changed the natural use to that contrary to nature. (27) And likewise, the males also forsaking the natural use of the female burned in their lust toward one another, males with males working out shamefulness, and receiving back within themselves the reward which was fitting for their error. (28) And even as they did not think fit to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do the things not right, (29) having been filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, iniquity, covetousness, malice, being full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, evil habits, becoming whisperers, (30) slanderers, God-haters, insolent, proud, braggarts, devisers of evil things, disobedient to parents, (31) without discernment, covenant breakers, without natural affection, unforgiving, unmerciful, (32) who knowing the righteous order of God, that those practicing such things are worthy of death, not only do them, but also approve those practicing them. Much Grace and Peace be to you all in Christ!
  8. Such stories I adore and find heart-warming and endearing! Thank you for sharing. The grace of God is on your words.
  9. Good point. The Covenant God made was not predicated (e.g. based-on or asserted to be true) on our capacity to obey and follow. The Covenant God made was given knowing we were powerless to uphold our end and that God would step in and provide to us and for us what we could not provide to and for ourselves: Jesus. Thus, the call and position of husband is a picture and gift a man is given not for himself, but for God. My call as husband and father are not about me. The call and position is about Him and His work towards us all. Thus, God has given me this call as an unworthy steward. In my humanity, I have failed and so I am left with no recourse, but to fail. Thanks be to God that He foreknew my catastrophe and sent His grace in Jesus Christ to offer to me His power and Spirit and faith to walk me out of the darkness I led myself into. Therefore, in His power and indwelling Spirit do I find finally the capacity to find some means of handling the stewardship of my calling with a growing amount of merit -- not based on me, but on Him. What I hope for all men, all husbands and all fathers everywhere is a simple revelation of this reality of our existence and to walk in the experience of faith in Christ to be empowered as men to better rise to the high calling of exemplifying Christ in our marriages and families. Overflowing Grace and Peace to you all!
  10. I agree. Sin begets easily more sin. It is our nature and our blindness tends easily towards it. Righteousness born of the Spirit is more rarely seen and more easily lost be virtue of neglect. Try turning your back on a spring garden and see how long it is before the weeds take over. The tendency of nature is chaos and weeds. Plants bearing fruit worthy of harvest must be tended and nurtured -- ask any farmer. The garden of our heart is no different. Your observation is sound and points to an outcome of our inward diseased heart. The cure is Christ -- His grace and faith to follow the indwelt Spirit! My prayer for all of us -- saints and sinners alike is that we hear His voice, follow and are saved by His hand of grace working. Much Peach and Grace in Christ to you all!
  11. Following after the flesh rather than the indwelling Spirit by faith. God's pleasure is His own to have or not have. He responds based on His own nature. We do not manipulate Him into being pleased or delighted with us. We obey by faith through the working of the Spirit or we live in our natural state of flesh, sin and lusts. Ours is to follow in faith in obedience to God depending on His work and grace. See above. Please and Love in Christ to you all!
  12. You are correct, He did not NEED to be, but He was as an example and for OUR SAKE, not His: (Mat 3:16) And having been baptized, Jesus went up immediately from the water. And, behold! The heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God coming down as a dove, and coming upon Him. (Mat 4:1) Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit, to be tempted by the Devil. Peace and Love in Christ to you all! Amen, well said, the man part of Him was what needed to be led by the Spirit for He was tempted in every way, even as we are. If Jesus , the man, needed to be led by the Spirit, how much more we? AMEN!
  13. You need to find the root of it. It will be in your unrecognized feelings, which are the source of a false belief. Ask yourself "what would happen if I didn't base my choices on pleasing people?" With the answer, ask yourself again "what would happen if I didn't <your previous anwer>? Continue asking yourself the same question with each answer until you understand what is driving it. You will find it is a false belief. Now, renew your mind in Christ. Then you will have to apply your renewed mind to every situation where your false belief continues coming up again. Well stated. Stated another way, "Ask yourself -- is that true? How do I know it is true?" I do NOT take the thoughts in my mind as being true just because they are in my mind. I challenge them. I ask them and then look for the evidence of what they are based upon? The ultimate foundation and basis for ANY thought is simple: Spirit v. Flesh (Romans 8 and others). So, do NOT take the thoughts of your mind as true simply because you think them and have them in your mind. Challenge them. Look to their source. Discover the source and you will know whether you ought to be living by or starving and killing that thought. Again -- well stated and said, Eleanor -- Sister! Renewing the mind indeed! Renewal is a process we participate in. The Lord provides the Seed by the indwelling Spirit as the husbandman of our inward garden and the womb of our heart. It is up to us to take this seed, plant it deeply, nurture and watch over it. Our flesh hates the seed of God and actively and inwardly looks to overwhelm the new plantings by fortresses of thinking. Attack the walls! Renewal is an inward battle cry to storm the walls and gates of our own thoughts and assail them, killing everything we find inside those inward thought-fortresses set up in our own hearts by sin, flesh and lusts. So -- CHARGE! Grace and Peace in Christ to you all!
  15. Our male and female roles are pointers and examples of Christ and the church (bride of Christ). Christ is the head of the church. Godly men understand this position and calling in a marriage. Human men do not always see or know how to live up to the calling and station. So, grace is available to the man who stumbles about in the matter. The matter of "Old Fashioned" if held as a "badge of honor" can become a point of selfish flesh and lust. Do or do not. Follow after the example of Jesus Christ with the indwelling Spirit or do not by default. This is our choice. The human labels of "Old Fashioned" are a smokescreen to hide this reality of simply living by the Spirit in the role God has ordained us in and for. Finally, the modern church is no different and no less human and steeped in sin, flesh and lusts than any other generation. The issue of the hour is us in the hour as we are either to be found following after the Spirit or not. Peace and Grace to you all!
