  1. It seems everyone covered the responses very well. All I can add is God Bless you and congratulations!
  2. Thank you for sharing this. It seems there is a lot of complacency among people with regards to the US heading towards socialism.
  3. I agree with the OP. It's nearly impossible to turn on TV with out being deluged with trashy shows (and thats just the commericals advertising them). I shudder to think of what some of these shows are like in their full time slot. I like to watch the news and would like to watch it without some over the top sexual inuendo laden advertisement. I am scared to really get started on how awful things have become....not enough room to write it all I would think. But as Christians this should come as no surprise to us, but it doesn't make it any easier to deal with at times. When I see all this stuff, I really do thank God that I am no longer "of the world", just in it!
  4. She was funny, but I am not sure I would call a show filled with sexual inuendo clean and numerous scenes depicting sex with someone the women were not married to. Compared to some of the shows today it was mild.
  5. It's a bit out of my league too, but I did read the following by Francis Collins "feels that intelligent design poses a serious problem to Christian belief because it rejects Darwinian evolution, which he feels is supported by overwhelming evidence." Collins claims to be an Evangelical Christian yet supports Darwinism. Sorry, but you can't have it both ways. Either God created everything or He didn't. Yes I know there is evolution WITHIN a species, but there is NO evidence for macro-evolution which is the whole of the Darwin Theory, so there is the rub. We did not evolve from some goo. Genesis clearly states otherwise. I guess it really comes down to "hath God said?" and well, yeah, He did.
  6. Examining one's inner self is a scary thing, because we know who we really are, not the face we present to the public sometimes. But is a good thing to do inlight of the fact that Scripture tells us to examine ourselves. Thanks for the reminder to do so, Onelight. Psssstttt ....Onelight it's 2 Corinthians 13:5
  7. I am no scholar either but it does say in both verses 5 and 8 that Satan, "took and brought" which implies some sort of physical interaction. A person can sustain life as long as they have fluids. It says nothing about Jesus not drinking anything. Some prisoners have gone that long without food but did eventually die, however we aren't talking about just anyone, we are talking about the Son of God. The Bible doesn't give the specifics so we are only speculating about the type of exchange between Satan and Jesus, but verse one says Jesus was full of the Holy Ghost, so who knows what is possible in that condition. When you read on down to verse 14 it says Jesus returned "in the power of the Spirit" to Galilee. Clearly the Holy Spirit was with him and personally I think that is the key to the whole thing.
  8. I wonder if you have to have MUP to have a party at your house? Sounds like some neighbor who hates Christians complained, otherwise, how would the police even know about it. I agree with Fez, try and stop me from having a "religious group" in my home. Until someone changes the Constitution I will stand on my freedom to assemble and my freedom of religion.
  9. Those are tough questions and we may never know the "why" of it. We do know that death entered into this world when Adam and Eve sinned in the garden. We live in a fallen state. All of creation is suffering the effects on sin. While it may seem unfair at times, we know according to Scritpure that God sends rain on the just and the unjust (Matthew 5:45). God is merciful and righteous. What may not seem fair to us is because we are looking through our eyes and our ability to understand. God sees everything through the eyes of love. He gave us HIS Son to show us how much he loved us. It is difficult for Christians to understand at times, even more so for those who aren't followers of Christ. A person who has no relationship with Christ cannot possibly begin to understand faith and all that it entails. Scripture also tells us that all things work for the good of those who love the Lord (paraphrased)/ Does that mean that everything that happens to us is good? No, but God is able to turn things around for our long-range good. God is not working to make us happy, but to fulfill his purpose and because of it we learn to accept, not resent pain and persecution, because God is with us.
  10. I am in agreement with Creed. You need to break that realationship off ASAP. It may hurt for a while but the pain will go away, but from the sounds of how that girl behaves...you will be in pain 24/7. It's not healthy. Get out while you can.
  11. So, when you ask if we have expectations, do you mean is anyone expecting Christ to return tomorrow? no thats not what i am asking.... just asking - you know everyone has been seeing 111 for a while now interesting that that scripture is 111 dont you think? Ok...just was wondering. I guess I am out of the loop because I don't follow what you mean about everyone seeing 111.
  12. So, when you ask if we have expectations, do you mean is anyone expecting Christ to return tomorrow?
  13. Thank you for sharing this! Lately I have felt drained, mentally and started second guessing myself as to why I couldn't seem to write anything or really give serious thoughts to things like Worthy. It's nice to know that others feel that way too. Amen, to resting in the LORD. If I didn't do that from time to time I would fall flat on my face, spiritually. Again thank you!
  14. God has a blueprint for my life, If you read Jeremiah 29:11 it says, " I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." God does have a plan for us, we just don't always follow it. We think we know better. Christians shouldn't judge, I Corinthians 6:1-4 disputes that. Verse 3 says, "know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain in this life? We are to judge actions, but only God can judge the heart. everything happens for a reason All of Scripture tells us God has a plan. In God's kingdom there is no such thing as luck or chance so in that context yes everything happens for a reason. We live in a fallen world and bad things happen to good people every day and it makes no sense. Is there a reason for it? Only in the sense that there is evil in this world and people choose to do evil. That is not what God would have us do, but there's the rub...we have a choice. We want to place blame either on God or Satan for everything that happens accepting no responsibility for ourselves. It reminds me of Genesis 50:20 when Joseph confronts his brothers who sold him into slavery. "...Ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good....."
  15. The fact that you feel conflicted should give you your answer. If there is nothing wrong with what you are doing then you will not question or second guess it, but if you have doubt's then I think you have a problem. God gives us the Holy Spirit for a reason and when our thougts are pricked by it and we ignore or try to justify them, we are ignoring the very help God promised He would give us. It's just been a rule of thumb for me that if I have to question it...then its best to not do it. In my opinion a married woman out drinking with her friends while her husband is gone is a receipe for disaster. But, thats just my thoughts on it. I personally wouldn't do it. I know you said you are young and want to have fun, but I think you could find something fun with your church or a hobby. There are just so many elements of danger involved in the bar scene, not just physical danger but spiritual danger. Again, if you are questioning, then perhaps you should pray about it, but I think you already know the answer.
  16. Excellent post! I love it when we are obedient and God rewards us in ways we never dreamed of. I guess that is why my favorite verse of Scripture is Ephesians 3:20 "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us."
  17. I had not heard of the movie either, but the review I read and what you said about it sure makes me want to see it. Thanks for sharing the info about it. Looking forward to seeing it.
  18. Thank you for sharing. I had trouble with getting the images from the link you provided so I googled "nebula" as you suggested and was amazed at the photos that are there. Some I don't see the image that is referred to, but others nearly leap of the screen at you. There is one of "Jesus" that is amazing. It is so interesting to see some of God's handiwork through the Hubble telescope, things we would not see otherwise.
  19. As one of those who was caught in the job loss mess, some of the drug companies are a blessing. Glaxo, Smith, Kline also has a program for those who can't afford their meds. When my husband lost his job, we lost our health insurance I need Advair for my asthma and he needs meds for his heart. We found out from our doctor about these programs for 'senior citizens", which we are, who can't aford their meds. We were able to buy my husband's heart meds, but I couldn't buy the Advair. It's over $400 for two months supply. Praise God for these programs that some of these drug companies are offering. I got my first two month supply for $10 and the remaing year's worth will be free. My husband's meds now cost us $4 each. We remainded faithful in our giving at church and I firmly believe God provided away for us to get these medications. We had NO knowledge of these programs and our doctor asked us if we needed anything. That may not sound like such a big deal except this was the first visit we had ever had with this doctor because we had to get a new primary care physician when the insurance was cancelled. We told him what we needed but told him we couldn't afford the meds and he said, "Don't worry, I can get them all for free or for very little." And he has! He enrolled us in those programs and we are now getting the meds we need. Thank you Jesus for sending us to the right doctor who could meet our needs.
  20. Satan often markets his wares as innocent. Who better to get to than kids? If you can influence them while they are young, imagine what they will be like as adults. I shudder to think about what this generation of kids will be like with all these games that promote muder and mayhem. Satans tools always look inviting otherwise we would never involve ourselves with them. Of course it seems innocent, that's the point. Parents are obligated to keep their children from harmful things and that includes games.
  21. Thank you for sharing that story. It is really interesting and for me, not what I expected either.
  22. oh Believer. this SO does not surprise me! i'm sure you were a terrific mom, and i'm happy your daughter realizes it. congrats to you! thanks for posting this, Glory! these kind of things always make me blubber! i really like the one of Erma where she's talking about what kids hear a mom say and how they don't hear what's in the mom's heart. i'll have to see if i can find that one. Charitow, they make me cry like a baby as well. I hope you can find the one you mentioned. I would love to read it.
  23. What a wonderful testament! All the times I thought I was being ignored comes back to me in similar ways and I am a bit surprised and humbled to know they were listening. Thank you Jesus. This is a beautiful story and I am sure you were totally overwhelmed by the love your daughter expressed. God bless you and enjoy your mothers day!
