  1. These concepts are patently American. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  2. Well, when it comes to foreign aid, is it disrespectful to "bite the hand that feeds you?" warm regards -bud <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If someone helps you that doesn't mean you're obliged to do everything they tell you. Being sincerely thankful is enough. Maybe instead of just showing the statistics of how they vote you should show what issues were being voted on. That will show a clearer picture of whether the votes against the US are 'disrespectful' or not.
  3. If someone disagrees with you does that indicate a lack of respect?
  4. Hmm, I don't think it's written from a Christian viewpoint. Here's the publishing info: First published in 1979 by PIERROT PUBLISHING LIMITED and THE NEW ENGLISH LIBRARY LIMITED 17 Oakley Road, London N. 1. and Barnard's Inn, London E.C. 1. ISBN: 0 905310 32 2 I don't know if that address is current. Leonard, it is quite a lot of fun. I loved the way he 'explained' why there aren't any dragon fossils or dragon cave paintings to be found anywhere.
  5. The books is 'The Flight of Dragons' by Peter Dickinson. I have a copy here at home. It is well-written and very entertaining. I also don't believe it is anything more. I don't think the author intended it to be taken (scientifically) seriously. For one thing, he uses mythology and fiction as well as historical accounts to formulate his theories. If you like dragons, though, this one is a must-read.
  6. I agree with the previous replies and I'd just like to add that not only teenagers have trouble with this.
  7. Hi Brent, welcome to Worthy! It strikes me how much of your testimony are things I could've written myself. (Not exactly the same but very similar.) This is indeed a great place to grow and fellowship!
  8. Now I've seen everything!
  9. I'm sure the local library will be glad to help.
  10. This thread isn't even supposed to be about the French. (Though it has quickly turned into one.)
  11. What has that got to do with anything? Why take offense? Do you think that one nation should dominate world affairs? (Imagine if it was someone other than the US.) Don't take it as an anti-American stance, take it as a precaution against a situation in which only one voice and one opinion is tolerated in the world.
  12. Don't take it so personally. The world, like any system, needs checks and balances.
  13. The meaning is in the whole sentence, not just the first part. It's like saying "There is nothing so crazy he wouldn't do." That means he would do just about any crazy thing.
  14. nebula, steff wasn't complaining about a lack of regulation when he posted this What he meant was that even the most ridiculous laws were being introduced. Carry on.
