  1. Read the Psalms and a book called the Valley of Vision. That'll help a lot.
  2. There is a thing called common grace- do good things, and according to God's order, good things happen. Then you have the fact that sin is deceitful.
  3. The literal meaning of sin is to "miss the mark". So, God has a standard- a bullseye, if you will- for His creation (be it in one activity, train of thought, word, or what have you) and sin is to miss that bullseye. So sin is missing the mark. To sin is to miss the mark. Sexual immorality is a sin, in which you miss the mark for God's standard in sex. Gossip is a sin in which you miss the mark God's standard for love and relationships/unity. Think of it in those terms, and maybe you'll get your answer. We're deserving of death because we don't measure up to God's standard. We aren't good enough.
  4. The entire work of Scripture is written in light of God/Jesus/Spirit and salvation. It drips with His glory. (Exodus 3:14) God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM' has sent me to you. " (John 8:58) "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid Himself, slipping away from the temple grounds. -The Jews didn't try to stone Jesus because He was claiming to be really old- He was claiming to be the I AM- the eternal God. It's blasphemy to claim you're God. But Jesus is God, so... (Colossians 1:15-17) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Isaiah 44:24) "This is what the Lord says - your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb; I am the Lord, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself... (Genesis 1:1) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (John 1:1) In the beginning was the Word... (Matthew 28:17) And behold, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshipped Him. (Philippians 2:5-11) Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death - even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus very knee should bow, in heaven and on earth tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Isaiah 45:22-23) "Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked; Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear." Those are a few.
  5. I didn't. The Scriptures did. Simon Magus was saved and lost his salvation. The Scripture could not be more clear. Again, I did not ask for that. I asked for one example of a person who was truly saved and voluntarily gave up his salvation. You didn't provide it. Yep... I hope that unity will remain regardless.
  6. Depends if their repentant sex offenders or not... if after counsel it is seen that they are calling Jesus lord, then they're good to go. If they're unrepentant or repeatedly failing, pretty sure we're supposed to purge the immoral brother. I checked maybe.
  7. I don't say bless you regardless, that's a tradition with odd occult reasoning
  8. I would've asked what "his God" is, and then agreed with the right and showed him what was wrong But you did just fine
  9. Ascretchord, I cannot say for certain, but I feel that this is a gray area. The goal for sex (one, at least) is to selflessly serve your spouse, as Christ does us. In my understanding, focusing too much on the physical act becomes selfish and lustful. You focus on the image and the feeling more than what it is you're doing- worshiping God by portraying His love. But again, this is something that some may be able to serve God with, and others may stumble over lust and self-centeredness. It would be my encouragement to you to focus not on how the pieces go together, but on the fact that you and your spouse (or future spouse) are uniting in one flesh, one mind, one spirit. Here is the criteria for God-honoring sex: -Selfless -Loving (caring, cherishing, protective, sacrificial, seeking other's best) -Centered on worship of God/bringing Him glory by representing Christ and the Church -Humble -Doesn't cause your spouse to stumble -Doesn't cause conviction or an unsure conscience (be convinced that what you're doing is God-honoring) Those are the big ones. If your desires pass that test, and pass your spouse's test, then go for it, I say.
  10. Sex is the most passionate way man and wife can express selfless and spiritual love together in one 'sitting', as Christ did for His church. Take sex and multiply it by infinite (is that possible? with God it is...) and that's how God feels about His church. Pretty intense.
  11. Ya, God won't overlook their faith- but God has provided clear-cut methods for dealing with sickness already... so this was just an issue of common sense/wisdom... poor girl, at least she's a LOT happier now
  12. It's a site that broadcasts anything you want to whoever wants to know what you're doing/thinking/etc. It's like the status you have on Facebook. If you don't use Facebook, I'll explain it differently: You type in your 'status'- for example, mine says "Drawing near to God; He's drawing near to me". This 'status' is then sent via text to your 'followers', or the friends that want to keep tabs on you. Make sense?
  13. NEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Now, continue.
  14. It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that is not tolerated even among pagans, for a man has his father's wife. And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? Let him who has done this be removed from among you. For though absent in body, I am present in spirit; and as if present, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who did such a thing. When you are assembled in the name of the Lord Jesus and my spirit is present, with the power of our Lord Jesus, you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord. Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Let us therefore celebrate the festival, not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people-- not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler--not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. "Purge the evil person from among you." (1 Corinthians 5:1-13 ESV) Seems there is some judgement we're to pass
