  1. That is a marvelous testimony Joshua. Faith can be very powerful, it IS very powerful. I beleive in the power of faith and prayer, I beleive the Bible. One verse if I recall correctly, said something to the effect that "Jesus did not do many miracles there, because of their lack of faith. In other cases, Jesus says "your faith has made you well". As others have poited out, Paul prayed repeatedly and was told "no". The woman with an issue of blood was not even prayed over, her faith was sufficient without Jesus direct intervention. What I take away from these various examples, is, that the faith of the one receiving, or the faith of the one doing the healing etc. might be all that is required, but that cannot mean that God will always heal. Paul's faith was answered with a "no". What it boils down to, is that God is on the throne of the universe, not you faith, not my faith. If all that is required is faith on that part of the one person intending healing, why aren't people who have such faith or gifts of healing, emptying hospitals? I think you made some reference about it not being in God's character to be a cause of illness or something to that effect, you might want to rethink that. The LORD said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD? Ex 4:11 Sometimes God has a purpose, and we have no idea what it is: 1As He passed by, He saw a man blind from birth. 2And His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?” 3Jesus answered, “It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him. John 9 Some evils, as you pointed out, are a result of the fall. That is of course very true. That does not mean though, that we can just pray or 'faith' it away. The creation groans awaiting the revelation of the sons of God, and it will continue to do so. We are still sinners and still under the curse, that will be fixed one day, but that day is not yet. Until then, we still have the good news of Romans 8:28. This also, is where faith comes in. In a case where relief is elusive, And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Life for the Christian is never promised to be trouble free, if anything we are told to expect troubles and suffering. I agree with others that if we say the only reason that you are not healed, is because you lack faith, then we serve to cause doubt in that person, about their salvation, about God etc, because their prayers are not answered, when likely it is just not God's intention to heal them at that time. Doctrines like that attack God's soveriegnty. We have been given the priveledge to come to our Father and ask what we want of Him, and the confidnce of knowing, that if He wills it, it will be done. We have not been given any right to come to Him and demand to change anything, he is not a celestial Santa Clause who grants wishes, He is the author of the universe and sees a larger picture, using everything for His purposes, and not needing to justify to us, why He does anything or fails to do anything. My advoce to you, is to continue to pray for healing, continue to exercise whatever gifts God gives you for His glory, but cease promulgating doctrines that are not in harmony with every word that comes from the mouth of God. Things like sickness, are temporary and not our focus, instead, we triy to focus on the love that God has shown us, patiently an joyfully await out eternity with Him. Contentment is hard when you are in pain, but some find it, that is where I am most impressed by faith. For now, we take comfort in passages like Rom 8 18For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. 20For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope 21that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. 23And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body. 24For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? 25But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it. Our Victory in Christ 26In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. 29For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified. 31What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? 33Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36Just as it is written, “FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.” 37But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  2. We went down to Holiday Park in Portland and shared the love of Jesus. We ran into some kids doing dubstep and had them invite the Holy Spirit, and well... He showed up. Two of them gave their lives to the Lord. Jesus is so amazing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3rssTbX62s
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ALhdNKD0JQ Friday 6/21/2013, I was praying about where to go and I had a vision of Clackamas Town Center and a big wedding cake. So we headed out there to share God’s love and see what the Lord wanted to do. When we arrived I started feeling God’s presence really strong. We came across three guys and asked if they would like prayer. As I was praying I had a vision of soldiers doing a helicopter drop and it turns out they were both about ready to go into the military. We got some words over them that shocked and blessed them. One of them asked for prayer for his mom, she had brain cancer so we prayed with him about that. Next I felt led to go to the food courts and as soon as we got there, I heard in the Spirit to go outside. We went outside and saw a guy missing his leg. We talked to him a little bit and I asked if we could pray for him for anything and he said no but was touched we would ask him. Then I testified about seeing broken ankles healed and told him that I haven’t seen anyone’s leg grow back but I know God can do it. He let us pray and nothing happened to his leg, but something did happen to his heart. I gave him a hug and his eyes looked watery and he was happy. After that, a guy came up selling CDs. He was a rap and r&b artist. I asked him if he ever injured his ankle and he said he did a few months ago so he let me pray and he said it felt alright. He said he was a believer but his music wasn’t for the Lord. We prayed for the Lord to bless him with favor over his music and Dem and Chris both exhorted him to start using his talents to glorify God. After that, there was a group of about four teenagers to young adults standing around talking. We walked up and asked if anyone had any pain in their bodies. One guy said he dislocated his shoulder the night before and asked me how long it was going to take. I said about 15 seconds, and he said cool. We started filming, and after a quick prayer he started freaking out cussing up a storm. His shoulder was healed. I told him it was Jesus and his friend, testifying how bad it was, said he had to pop it back in place. Right after that, his friend, Billy had said he messed up his wrist and his girlfriend Jessica wanted prayer because she just lost her baby and was going through a rough time. We prayed and got words over the girl and encouraged her and then we prayed for Billy’s wrist and it was healed instantly. While I started filming Billy’s testimony about his wrist, Dem and Chris started praying over this guy walking by who could barely walk. He was in a lot of pain and had no cartilage in his knees. By the time I was done filming he was healed so I got his testimony on film. He started walking perfectly fine without his cane and even jumped in the back of a truck perfectly with no pain. Praise God! Chelsea and I started ministering to Jessica some more and right after that, Dem and Chris started talking to a guy named John and started praying over him to bless him. While they were talking to him a girl who was friends with Jessica walked up and said that she loved Jesus. I said that’s awesome and invited her to pray with us over the ligaments in John’s leg. We prayed and the Lord healed him. Right after that, there was a lady walking by with her son with a really bad limp. I asked her about it and she said she had an abscess on her foot. I asked if I could pray and she said that she prays over it all the time. I testified of what we just saw and then she let us pray. She walked away limping and then by the time she got about 20 feet away from us she started walking completely normal. She sat down and took off her shoe to see her foot and the abscess was gone except for a little mark. We got her testimony. About a bench away from her were two young kids, I’m guessing about an 8 and 6 year old. I asked if they would like prayer and the older one said he didn’t believe in God. He said his mom was a Christian but he wasn’t because he had recently lost his dad as he was serving our country. I recently lost a friend of mine so I was able to connect with him there and was able to share the gospel to him. We prayed over him and he said he felt peace. He had gotten shots that morning, and his shoulder was in a lot of pain. I had his younger brother pray and the Lord healed him. After that he was shocked and he invited Jesus in his heart. His brother was going to be baptized in a week he was already a believer. This was all in about 30 minute span. God is so amazing. We went inside and saw a guy who sprained his wrist praying baseball. We prayed and he was healed. This was in front of a guy working in a cellphone booth who said he was Buddhist. we prayed over him and blessed him. I got to share my testimony to him and Chris started prophesying over a Muslim girl. After that, I noticed a little girl that was bow legged. We prayed over her family and her, she didn’t speak English. As they started walking away the little girls legs straightened out. After that, I was by the bathrooms and came across a young couple. I showed them the video of the guys shoulder getting healed and testified of what the Lord was doing. I prayed over them and got words about their relationship that an x boyfriend has been trying to mess with them and that she was in a fight with her sister and the Lord wanted to reconcile that. I prayed for God’s presence over them and they got blasted by the Spirit. I asked how accurate that was and the girl was shocked, she said she had just got in a fight with her sister and her x boyfriend had been trying to mess up her relationship. As they left he was like, “I told you that stuff was real!” Amen. We prayed over two more guys then headed to the food court. We ran into the guy whose shoulder got healed earlier and he said he was going bowling. We had a chance to share the gospel with him and minister to him and his friend some more. Praise the Lord! God is so amazing! He is longing for His children to experience Him! Who is hungry? Let Him feed you the bread from heaven! Who is thirsty? Let him fill you with the wine from heaven! He wants us to feast on Him, to feast on His goodness. If you’re a believer, that means you’re a son! You have rights to access heaven and manifest it to this world. Lord, Father, thank You and praise You. Thank You for the lives you touch, thank You for moving through us. You are glorious God. I pray that these testimonies would be anointed to inspire others to be radical and sold out for You. It’s all about You Jesus. I pray and thank You for rising up more workers for the harvest, for rising up radical warriors, laid down lovers who will spend their lives to love the one in front of them. In Jesus name, thank You, amen.

  5. A week or so ago I stared another similar thread about how I could trust God to heal both myself and others. As I discussed that with others on that thread it began to dawn on me that the biggest single stumbling block to my own faith with respect to believing God for healing (both for myself and others) is the belief that it may not be His will to heal ALL who come to Him for healing today. Rather than discussing this particular aspect of the whole healing issue on that thread it seemed good to me, among other reasons, to start a new thread on this one issue alone as there is probably quite a bit to discuss on it by itself. A few nights ago I had a tooth ache. So I came before the Lord and tried to get healing from him for it. But in one of those instances where it was like the Lord was having a conversation with me (let's not go into what that is or whether it's real or what have you on this thread)...He asked me whether I believed that He would heal me. Well...I had to confess that no...I wasn't sure that He would. And that is as far as my attempt to get healing from Him went. As far as my toothache it went nowhere. But I was also left realizing that this is one very specific reason why I do not see more healings occur. Because I have no faith for such healing. Faith as in being certain of what I do not see (my healing or that of others). Without faith it is impossible to please God or to expect anything from Him at all. Faith exercised is hope realized (wow...that just came to me! Way cool!). I can hope that my aches and pains will be healed all day long and pray up multiple prayers of hope that God will heal me but until and if I latch on to God through a promise with faith for a healing...IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN! The fault does not lie with my not having faith. The fault lies in a faulty concept of what God's will is respecting healing. As to whether He wills to heal me in particular or not. Assuming of course that my belief that He does not will to heal all is faulty. Imagine if you will an unbeliever coming to God through Jesus Christ for salvation. How can they be certain that God will save them in particular through the Gospel? Because God wills that ALL be saved! Now image a Christian coming to God for healing as I did. If I do not believe that He will heal ALL how in the world can I in particular have any confidence of receiving a healing? Therein lies the problem. F.F. Botsworth who wrote Christ the Healer said this...(on page 48 of his book)... I will be seeking the Lord on this in the next little while and wanted to open it up for discussion if anyone is interested in talking about this. Carlos
  6. Over the years of my Christian life I have thought about this on and off with never a satisfactory answer so I thought I would start a new thread to see if the Lord might give me some insight through some of you all about this. I have been reading Mark the last week or so and a number of verses out of Mark have also been brought to the forefront of my thinking with respect to this issue too. Incidentally I have been doing a LOT of reading about various bible versions and have decided to go back to using the KJV (King James Version) or a version that is based on it exclusively (as opposed to the NASB). For now I will be using the 21st Century King James Version so all quotes are from that version. Anyway here are some verses in Mark... The reason the disciples could not do what Jesus did was NOT because they could not but rather because they had no faith to do it. It is ironic that in a place where Jesus marveled at their lack of faith, that He could still heal a few sick folks. If we go by that as a barometer of how great our faith is we must come to the conclusion that our lack of faith today is of a measure that surpasses even the lack of faith that made Jesus marvel since even a few sick folks can't hardly be healed today! At least in North America. People who were sick were often said to have unclean spirits. Spirits over which Jesus gave the apostles power to cast them out. If much sickness is due to spiritual possession why can't we of today cast out the spirits and heal the physical manifestation of these spirits? What Jesus did to the fig tree we can ALL do IF we believe. It is not a matter of dispensation, where such things have ceased to be able to be done but, rather a matter of having a lack of faith! How can we have that kind of faith? Beats me. A couple of days ago I went to use a public bathroom and found a stopped up toilet. I tried to flush it down while rebuking the stoppage of poop and whatever else was in there but nothing. The toilet remained blocked. A few days before that I rebuked a bunch of ants coming into my habitation and...nothing. They still came in such that I have had to fight them ever since. I have rebuked allergic reactions on my skin, tooth aches, colds, you name it and...nothing. Things remain as they are. How can I grow in faith so as to be able to take advantage of these great promises to do the things Jesus did and which things are clearly possible for those who have faith?? I have no clue. I've even had Pastors pray for me in the spirit of James where it says to call for the elders of a church to pray over you when you are sick and...nothing. I know there is some controversy about these verses at the end of Mark. Quite frankly I don't care about the controversy and believe they are part of God's word. Whether you believe that or not doesn't matter to me at all. What matters to me is that the essence of what is said in these verses IS found in other verses too! That signs will accompany believers as they proclaim the Gospel testifying to the truth of it in the eyes and minds of those who hear. Today we have a sanitized Christianity which is nearly all head (i.e. of the intellect). At least in North America or Western culture. Few if any signs are happening except in far flung foreign countries. I want to change that. Why? Because barring that our Gospel is just another intellectual, religious belief like so many others with no supporting proof that it stands for the real God. I believe in a Living Jesus who lives to do what He did while on Earth through His Body! Only thing is that my belief doesn't seem to be enough. For the most part my experience of the Living Christ remains subjective and NOT objective. So how can I change that? How can I grow in my faith so as to see these things happen again for the greater glory of God? All my rebuking and praying against this or that in the name of Jesus does no good. Anybody? I don't want to get into some theological debate where we argue the finer points of dispensationalism or what have you. I could care less about such things in so far as I don't believe the folks who say that these types of things have ceased to be - not by the Word at least. I want to bring the Lord back into life today as He was then! That's what I want. For the glory of God and the furtherance of the Gospel. But...well...I don't quite know how to do that. Carlos
